1 Т огда ответил Цофар из Наамы:

Then Zophar the Naamathite answered and said:

2 – Мои тревожные мысли заставляют меня ответить, потому что я объят смятением.

“Therefore my anxious thoughts make me answer, Because of the turmoil within me.

3 Я слышу упрек, который позорит меня, и мой ум побуждает меня ответить. Цофар описывает судьбу нечестивых

I have heard the rebuke that reproaches me, And the spirit of my understanding causes me to answer.

4 Р азве ты не знаешь, как было издревле, с тех пор, как поставлен на землю смертный,

“Do you not know this of old, Since man was placed on earth,

5 ч то кратко веселье нечестивцев, и радость безбожников лишь на миг?

That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the hypocrite is but for a moment?

6 П усть гордыня его достигает небес, а голова касается облаков,

Though his haughtiness mounts up to the heavens, And his head reaches to the clouds,

7 о н сгинет навек, как его же нечистоты; и спросят видевшие его: «Где он?»

Yet he will perish forever like his own refuse; Those who have seen him will say, ‘Where is he?’

8 К ак сон улетит, и его не найти, как ночное видение пропадет.

He will fly away like a dream, and not be found; Yes, he will be chased away like a vision of the night.

9 Г лаз, что видел его, впредь его не увидит; место его на него не посмотрит.

The eye that saw him will see him no more, Nor will his place behold him anymore.

10 Е го дети будут заискивать перед нищими, своими руками вернет он все, что похитил,

His children will seek the favor of the poor, And his hands will restore his wealth.

11 м олодецкая сила, что наполняет его кости, вместе с ним ляжет в прах.

His bones are full of his youthful vigor, But it will lie down with him in the dust.

12 Е сли его устам сладко зло, и под языком его скрывает,

“Though evil is sweet in his mouth, And he hides it under his tongue,

13 е сли он бережет его, не бросает, держит его во рту,

Though he spares it and does not forsake it, But still keeps it in his mouth,

14 т о станет пища в его желудке ядом змеиным внутри него.

Yet his food in his stomach turns sour; It becomes cobra venom within him.

15 О трыгнет он богатства, которые проглотил; Бог исторгнет их из его желудка.

He swallows down riches And vomits them up again; God casts them out of his belly.

16 З меиный яд он будет сосать, жало гадюки его убьет.

He will suck the poison of cobras; The viper’s tongue will slay him.

17 Н е видать ему потоков водных, рек, текущих медом и молоком.

He will not see the streams, The rivers flowing with honey and cream.

18 О н вернет нажитое, не отведав; доходам от труда своего не порадуется.

He will restore that for which he labored, And will not swallow it down; From the proceeds of business He will get no enjoyment.

19 Т еснил он бедных и пренебрегал ими; захватывал дома, которые не строил.

For he has oppressed and forsaken the poor, He has violently seized a house which he did not build.

20 В его желудке нет покоя, а в богатстве нет спасения.

“Because he knows no quietness in his heart, He will not save anything he desires.

21 Н ичто не спаслось от его обжорства, зато и удача его не удержится.

Nothing is left for him to eat; Therefore his well-being will not last.

22 С реди достатка его настигнет беда; все руки обиженных поднимутся на него.

In his self-sufficiency he will be in distress; Every hand of misery will come against him.

23 К огда он свой живот набьет до отказа, Бог пошлет на него Свой пылающий гнев, и прольет дождем на его плоть.

When he is about to fill his stomach, God will cast on him the fury of His wrath, And will rain it on him while he is eating.

24 О н убежит от железного оружия, но его пронзит бронзовая стрела.

He will flee from the iron weapon; A bronze bow will pierce him through.

25 С трела войдет в его спину и пройдет, сверкая, сквозь его печень. Двинутся ужасы на него.

It is drawn, and comes out of the body; Yes, the glittering point comes out of his gall. Terrors come upon him;

26 К ромешная тьма ожидает его сокровища. Никем не зажженный огонь пожрет его, и сожжет последнее, что осталось в его шатре.

Total darkness is reserved for his treasures. An unfanned fire will consume him; It shall go ill with him who is left in his tent.

27 Б еззакония его небеса откроют, и восстанет против него земля.

The heavens will reveal his iniquity, And the earth will rise up against him.

28 Б огатство его дома расточится, в день Божьего гнева расплещется, как вода.

The increase of his house will depart, And his goods will flow away in the day of His wrath.

29 В от участь нечестивому от Бога, удел, который определил ему Бог.

This is the portion from God for a wicked man, The heritage appointed to him by God.”
