1 « Salmo di Davide. Per ricordare» O Eterno, non sgridarmi nella tua indignazione, e non punirmi nella tua ira.

O Lord, rebuke me not in Your wrath, neither chasten me in Your hot displeasure.

2 P oiché le tue frecce mi hanno trafitto, e la tua mano mi schiaccia.

For Your arrows have sunk into me and stick fast, and Your hand has come down upon me and pressed me sorely.

3 N on c'è nulla di sano nella mia carne, a causa della tua ira; non c'è requie alcuna nelle mie ossa, a causa del mio peccato.

There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation; neither is there any health or rest in my bones because of my sin.

4 L e mie iniquità infatti superano il mio capo; sono come un grave carico, troppo pesante per me.

For my iniquities have gone over my head; as a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.

5 L e mie piaghe sono fetide e purulenti per la mia follia.

My wounds are loathsome and corrupt because of my foolishness.

6 S ono tutto ricurvo e abbattuto, vado in giro tutto il giorno facendo cordoglio,

I am bent and bowed down greatly; I go about mourning all the day long.

7 p erché i miei lombi sono pieni d'infiammazione, e non vi è nulla di sano nella mia carne.

For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh.

8 S ono sfinito e contuso; ruggisco per il fremito del mio cuore.

I am faint and sorely bruised; I groan by reason of the disquiet and moaning of my heart.

9 O Signore, ogni mio desiderio è davanti a te, e i miei sospiri non ti sono nascosti.

Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You.

10 I l mio cuore palpita, la mia forza mi lascia; la luce stessa dei miei occhi se n'è andata.

My heart throbs, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.

11 I miei amici e i miei compagni stanno lontani dalla mia piaga, e i miei vicini si fermano a distanza.

My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; and my neighbors and my near ones stand afar off.

12 Q uelli che cercano la mia vita mi tendono lacci, e quelli che cercano di farmi del male parlano di rovina e meditano inganni tutto il giorno.

They also that seek and demand my life lay snares for me, and they that seek and require my hurt speak crafty and mischievous things; they meditate treachery and deceit all the day long.

13 M a io sono come un sordo che non ode e come un muto che non apre bocca.

But I, like a deaf man, hear not; and I am like a dumb man who opens not his mouth.

14 S í, sono come un uomo che non sente, e che non può rispondere con la sua bocca.

Yes, I have become like a man who hears not, in whose mouth are no arguments or replies.

15 P oiché spero in te, o Eterno, tu risponderai, o Signore, DIO mio.

For in You, O Lord, do I hope; You will answer, O Lord my God.

16 P oiché ho detto: «Non si rallegrino di me, e quando il mio piede vacilla, non s'innalzino contro di me».

For I pray, Let them not rejoice over me, who when my foot slips boast against me.

17 M entre sono sul punto di cadere e il mio dolore è continuamente davanti a me,

For I am ready to halt and fall; my pain and sorrow are continually before me.

18 m entre confesso il mio peccato e sono angosciato per la mia colpa,

For I do confess my guilt and iniquity; I am filled with sorrow for my sin.

19 i miei nemici sono pieni di vita e sono forti, e quelli che mi odiano senza motivo si moltiplicano.

But my enemies are vigorous and strong, and those who hate me wrongfully are multiplied.

20 A nche quelli che mi rendono male per bene mi perseguitano, perché seguo il bene.

They also that render evil for good are adversaries to me, because I follow the thing that is good.

21 O Eterno, non abbandonarmi, DIO mio, non allontanarti da me.

Forsake me not, O Lord; O my God, be not far from me.

22 A ffrettati in mio aiuto, o Signore, mia salvezza,

Make haste to help me, O Lord, my Salvation.
