2 I nnalzate un canto e fate risuonare il tamburello, l'arpa melodiosa con la lira.

Raise a song, sound the timbrel, the sweet lyre with the harp.

3 S uonate la tromba alla nuova luna alla luna piena nel giorno della nostra festa.

Blow the trumpet at the New Moon, at the full moon, on our feast day.

4 P oiché questo è uno statuto per Israele, una legge del DIO di Giacobbe.

For this is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

5 E gli lo stabilí come una testimonianza in Giuseppe, quando uscí contro il paese di Egitto. Allora io udii un linguaggio che non comprendevo:

This He ordained in Joseph '> savior] for a testimony when He went out over the land of Egypt. The speech of One Whom I knew not did I hear,

6 « O Israele, io ho sottratto le tue spalle ai pesi; le tue mani hanno deposto la cesta.

I removed his shoulder from the burden; his hands were freed from the basket.

7 N ella sventura tu gridasti a me e io ti liberai; ti risposi nascosto nel tuono, ti misi alla prova alle acque di Meriba. (Sela)

You called in distress and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah!

8 A scolta, o popolo mio, e ti ammonirò. O Israele, se tu mi ascoltassi!

Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you—O Israel, if you would listen to Me!

9 N on vi sia in mezzo a te alcun dio straniero e non adorare alcun dio forestiero.

There shall no strange god be among you, neither shall you worship any alien god.

10 s ono l'Eterno, il DIO tuo, che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese di Egitto; apri la tua bocca e io la riempirò.

I am the Lord your God, Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

11 M a il mio popolo non ha ascoltato la mia voce e Israele non mi ha ubbidito.

But My people would not hearken to My voice, and Israel would have none of Me.

12 P erciò li abbandonai alla durezza del loro cuore, affinché camminassero secondo i loro consigli.

So I gave them up to their own hearts’ lust and let them go after their own stubborn will, that they might follow their own counsels.

13 O h, se il mio popolo mi ascoltasse, se Israele camminasse nelle mie vie!

Oh, that My people would listen to Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!

14 U milierei subito i suoi nemici e volgerei la mia mano contro i suoi avversari.

Speedily then I would subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their adversaries.

15 Q uelli che odiano l'Eterno gli sarebbero sottomessi, e la loro sorte sarebbe segnata per sempre.

those who hated the Lord would have come cringing before Him, and their defeat would have lasted forever.

16 E io lo nutrirei (Israele) con fior di frumento e lo sazierei di miele che stilla dalla roccia».

would feed also with the finest of the wheat; and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy you.
