1 P oi vidi l'Agnello che stava in piedi sul monte di Sion, e con lui erano centoquarantaquattromila persone che avevano il suo nome e il nome di suo Padre scritto sulle loro fronti.

Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb stood on Mount Zion, and with Him 144, 000 who had His name and His Father’s name inscribed on their foreheads.

2 U dii quindi una voce dal cielo come il fragore di molte acque e come il rumore di un forte tuono; e la voce che udii era come di citaredi che suonavano le loro cetre.

And I heard a voice from heaven like the sound of great waters and like the rumbling of mighty thunder; the voice I heard of harpists accompanying themselves on their harps.

3 E ssi cantavano un cantico nuovo davanti al trono, davanti ai quattro esseri viventi e davanti agli anziani; e nessuno poteva imparare il cantico se non i centoquarantaquattromila, i quali sono stati riscattati dalla terra.

And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders '> the heavenly Sanhedrin]. No one could learn that song except the 144, 000 who had been ransomed (purchased, redeemed) from the earth.

4 E ssi sono quelli che non si sono contaminati con donne; sono infatti vergini. Essi sono quelli che seguono l'Agnello, dovunque egli va; essi sono stati riscattati fra gli uomini, per essere primizie a Dio e all'Agnello.

These are they who have not defiled themselves by relations with women, for they are '> pure as] virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These are they who have been ransomed (purchased, redeemed) from among men as the firstfruits for God and the Lamb.

5 S ulla loro bocca non è stata trovata menzogna, perché sono irreprensibili davanti al trono di Dio.

No lie was found to be upon their lips, for they are blameless (spotless, untainted, without blemish) before the throne of God.

6 P oi vidi un altro angelo che volava in mezzo al cielo e che aveva l'evangelo eterno da annunziare agli abitanti della terra e ad ogni, nazione tribú, lingua e popolo,

Then I saw another angel flying in midair, with an eternal Gospel (good news) to tell to the inhabitants of the earth, to every race and tribe and language and people.

7 e diceva a gran voce: «Temete Dio e dategli gloria, perché l'ora del suo giudizio è venuta; adorate colui che ha fatto il cielo, la terra, il mare e le fonti delle acque».

And he cried with a mighty voice, Revere God and give Him glory (honor and praise in worship), for the hour of His judgment has arrived. Fall down before Him; pay Him homage and adoration and worship Him Who created heaven and earth, the sea and the springs (fountains) of water.

8 P oi seguí un altro angelo, dicendo: «E' caduta, è caduta Babilonia, la grande città che ha dato da bere a tutte le nazioni il vino dell'ira della sua fornicazione».

Then another angel, a second, followed, declaring, Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great! She who made all nations drink of the wine of her passionate unchastity '> idolatry].

9 U n terzo angelo li seguí dicendo a gran voce: «Se uno adora la bestia e la sua immagine e ne prende il marchio sulla sua fronte o sulla sua mano,

Then another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a mighty voice, Whoever pays homage to the beast and his statue and permits the stamp (mark, inscription) to be put on his forehead or on his hand,

10 b errà anch'egli il vino dell'ira di Dio, versato puro nel calice della sua ira e sarà tormentato con fuoco e zolfo davanti ai santi angeli e davanti all'Agnello.

He too shall drink of the wine of God’s indignation and wrath, poured undiluted into the cup of His anger; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.

11 E il fumo del loro tormento salirà nei secoli dei secoli, e non avranno requie né giorno né notte coloro che adorano la bestia e la sua immagine e chiunque prende il marchio del suo nome».

And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no respite (no pause, no intermission, no rest, no peace) day or night—these who pay homage to the beast and to his image and whoever receives the stamp of his name upon him.

12 Q ui è la costanza dei santi; qui sono coloro che osservano i comandamenti di Dio e la fede di Gesú.

Here the steadfastness of the saints, those who keep God’s commandments and faith in Jesus.

13 P oi udii dal cielo una voce che mi diceva: «Scrivi: Beati i morti che d'ora in avanti muoiono nel Signore; sí, dice lo Spirito, affinché si riposino dalle loro fatiche, perché le loro opere li seguono».

Then I heard further '> perceiving the distinct words of] a voice from heaven, saying, Write this: Blessed (happy, to be envied) are the dead from now on who die in the Lord! Yes, blessed (happy, to be envied indeed), says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, for their works (deeds) do follow (attend, accompany) them!

14 P oi vidi una nuvola bianca, ed ecco sulla nuvola stava seduto uno simile a un Figlio d'uomo, il quale aveva sul capo una corona d'oro e in mano una falce tagliente.

Again I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud One resembling a Son of Man, with a crown of gold on His head and a sharp scythe (sickle) in His hand.

15 U n altro angelo uscí dal tempio gridando a gran voce a colui che sedeva sulla nuvola: «Metti mano alla tua falce e mieti, poiché l'ora di mietere è venuta e perché la messe della terra è matura».

And another angel came out of the temple sanctuary, calling with a mighty voice to Him Who was sitting upon the cloud, Put in Your scythe and reap, for the hour has arrived to gather the harvest, for the earth’s crop is fully ripened.

16 A llora colui che sedeva sulla nuvola lanciò la sua falce sulla terra, e la terra fu mietuta.

So He Who was sitting upon the cloud swung His scythe (sickle) on the earth, and the earth’s crop was harvested.

17 P oi un altro angelo uscí dal tempio, che è nel cielo, avendo anch'egli una falce tagliente.

Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he also carried a sharp scythe (sickle).

18 E un altro angelo, che aveva potestà sul fuoco, uscí dall'altare e gridò a gran voce a quello che aveva la falce tagliente, dicendo: «Metti in azione la tua falce tagliente e vendemmia i grappoli della vigna della terra, poiché le sue uve sono mature».

And another angel came forth from the altar, who has authority and power over fire, and he called with a loud cry to him who had the sharp scythe (sickle), Put forth your scythe and reap the fruitage of the vine of the earth, for its grapes are entirely ripe.

19 A llora l'angelo lanciò la sua falce sulla terra e vendemmiò la vigna della terra e gettò l'uva nel gran tino dell'ira di Dio.

So the angel swung his scythe on the earth and stripped the grapes and gathered the vintage from the vines of the earth and cast it into the huge winepress of God’s indignation and wrath.

20 I l tino fu pigiato fuori della città e dal tino uscí tanto sangue, che giungeva sino alle briglie dei cavalli, per una distanza di milleseicento stadi.

And the winepress were trodden outside the city, and blood poured from the winepress, as high as horses’ bridles, for a distance of 1, 600 stadia (about 200 miles).
