1 « Ascoltate questo, o sacerdoti, prestate attenzione voi della casa d'Israele, porgete l'orecchio, o casa del re, perché questo giudizio è contro di voi. Voi infatti siete stati un laccio a Mitspah e una rete tesa sul Tabor.

Hear this, O you priests! And listen, O house of Israel! And give ear, O house of the king! For the judgment pronounced pertains to you and is meant for you, because you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net spread upon Tabor.

2 Q uelli che si sviano sono caduti profondamente nel massacro, ma io li castigherò tutti.

The revolters are deeply sunk in corruption and slaughter, but I am a rebuke and a chastisement for them all.

3 I o conosco Efraim, e Israele non mi è affatto nascosto: ora, o Efraim, ti sei prostituito; Israele si è contaminato.

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from Me; for now, O Ephraim, you have played the harlot and have worshiped idols; Israel is defiled.

4 L e loro azioni non permettono loro di tornare al loro DIO, perché lo spirito di prostituzione è in mezzo a loro e non conoscono l'Eterno.

Their doings will not permit them to return to their God, for the spirit of harlotry is within them and they know not the Lord.

5 M a l'orgoglio d'Israele testimonia contro di lui; perciò Israele ed Efraim cadranno per la loro iniquità e con loro cadrà anche Giuda.

But the pride and self-reliance of Israel testifies before his face. Therefore shall Israel, and Ephraim, totter and fall in their iniquity and guilt, and Judah shall stumble and fall with them.

6 C on le loro greggi e con le loro mandrie andranno in cerca dell'Eterno, ma non lo troveranno; egli si è ritirato da loro.

They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the Lord, but they will not find Him; He has withdrawn Himself from them.

7 H anno agito con inganno contro l'Eterno, perché hanno generato dei figli di adulterio, ora un solo mese divorerà loro e il loro paese.

They have dealt faithlessly and treacherously with the Lord, for they have borne alien children. Now shall a New Moon (one month) devour them with their fields.

8 S uonate il corno in Ghibeah, suonate la tromba in Ramah, date l'allarme a Beth-aven; il nemico è alle tue spalle, o Beniamino.

Blow the horn in Gibeah and the trumpet in Ramah. Sound the alarm at Beth-aven: behind you and after you, O Benjamin!

9 E fraim sarà devastato nel giorno della punizione; fra le tribú d'Israele io faccio conoscere una cosa certa.

Ephraim shall become a desolation in the day of rebuke and punishment. Among the tribes of Israel I declare what shall surely be.

10 I capi di Giuda sono come quelli che spostano i confini; io riverserò la mia ira su di loro come acqua.

The princes of Judah are like those who remove the landmark; I will pour out My wrath upon them like water.

11 E fraim è oppresso e frantumato nel giudizio, perché ha deliberatamente seguito precetti umani.

Ephraim is oppressed; he is broken and crushed by judgment, because he was content to walk after idols (images) and man’s command ( vanities and filth ).

12 P erciò io sarò per Efraim come una tarma e per la casa di Giuda come la carie.

Therefore I am like a moth to Ephraim and like dry rot to the house of Judah.

13 Q uando Efraim ha veduto la sua infermità e Giuda la sua ferita, Efraim è andato in Assiria e ha mandato messaggeri al re Jareb, tuttavia egli non può guarirvi né curarvi la piaga.

When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah saw his wound, then Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to great King Jareb. Yet he cannot heal you nor will he cure you of your wound.

14 P oiché io sarò per Efraim come un leone e per la casa di Giuda come un leoncello; io, io stesso dilanierò e me ne andrò; porterò via la preda e nessuno me la strapperà.

For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I, even I, will rend and go on; I will carry off and there will be no one to deliver.

15 M e ne ritornerò al mio luogo, finché non si riconosceranno colpevoli e cercheranno la mia faccia, nella loro avversità mi cercheranno con diligenza».

I will return to My place until they acknowledge their offense and feel their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction and distress they will seek, inquire for, and require Me earnestly, saying,
