My Steadfast Love and my Fortress, my High Tower and my Deliverer, my Shield and He in Whom I trust and take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.

3 O Eterno, che cosa è l'uomo perché te ne curi, o il figlio dell'uomo perché tu ne tenga conto?

Lord, what is man that You take notice of him? Or son of man that You take account of him?

4 L 'uomo è come un soffio e i suoi giorni sono come l'ombra che passa.

Man is like vanity and a breath; his days are as a shadow that passes away.

5 A bbassa i tuoi cieli, o Eterno, e discendi, ed essi fumeranno.

Bow Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

6 L ancia i fulmini e disperdili, scaglia le tue frecce e mettili in fuga.

Cast forth lightning and scatter; send out Your arrows and embarrass and frustrate them.

7 S tendi la tua mano dall'alto, salvami e liberami dalle grandi acque e dalla mano degli stranieri,

Stretch forth Your hand from above; rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, from the hands of hostile aliens (tribes around us)

8 l a cui bocca proferisce menzogna e la cui destra è destra d'inganno.

Whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands fraudulent oaths.

9 O DIO, ti canterò un nuovo cantico, canterò le tue lodi su un'arpa a dieci corde.

I will sing a new song to You, O God; upon a harp, an instrument of ten strings, will I offer praises to You.

10 T u, che dai vittoria ai re e che liberi il tuo servo Davide dalla spada funesta,

You are He Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues David His servant from the hurtful sword.

11 s alvami e liberami dalla mano degli stranieri, la cui bocca proferisce menzogna e la cui destra è destra d'inganno.

Rescue me and deliver me out of the power of alien whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands fraudulent oaths.

12 I nostri figli nella loro giovinezza siano come piante rigogliose, e le nostre figlie siano come colonne d'angolo, ben scolpite per adornare un palazzo.

When our sons shall be as plants grown large in their youth and our daughters as sculptured corner pillars hewn like those of a palace;

13 I nostri granai siano ricolmi e forniscano ogni specie di beni; le nostre greggi si riproducano a migliaia e a decine di migliaia nelle nostre campagne;

When our garners are full, affording all manner of store, and our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our pastures;

14 i nostri buoi tirino pesanti carichi e non vi sia alcuna irruzione, né sortita, né grido nelle nostre piazze.

When our oxen are well loaded; when there is no invasion and no going forth and no outcry in our streets;

15 B eato il popolo che è in tale stato; beato il popolo il cui DIO è l'Eterno.

Happy and blessed are the people who are in such a case; yes, happy (blessed, fortunate, prosperous, to be envied) are the people whose God is the Lord!
