1 P oi egli entrò di nuovo nella sinagoga, e là c'era un uomo che aveva una mano secca.

Again Jesus went into a synagogue, and a man was there who had one withered hand '> as the result of accident or disease].

2 E d essi lo stavano ad osservare per vedere se lo avesse guarito in giorno di sabato, per poi accusarlo,

And kept watching Jesus to see whether He would cure him on the Sabbath, so that they might get a charge to bring against Him '> formally].

3 E d egli disse all'uomo che aveva la mano secca: «Alzati in mezzo a tutti!».

And He said to the man who had the withered hand, Get up in the midst.

4 P oi disse loro: «E' lecito in giorno di sabato fare del bene o del male, salvare una vita o annientarla?». Ma essi tacevano.

And He said to them, Is it lawful and right on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to take it? But they kept silence.

5 A llora egli, guardatili tutt'intorno con indignazione, rattristato per la durezza del loro cuore, disse a quell'uomo: «Stendi la tua mano!». Egli la stese e la sua mano fu risanata come l'altra.

And He glanced around at them with vexation and anger, grieved at the hardening of their hearts, and said to the man, Hold out your hand. He held it out, and his hand was restored.

6 E i farisei, usciti, tennero subito consiglio con gli erodiani contro di lui come farlo morire.

Then the Pharisees went out and immediately held a consultation with the Herodians against Him, how they might put Him to death.

7 M a Gesú si ritirò con i suoi discepoli verso il mare; e una gran folla lo seguí dalla Galilea e dalla Giudea,

And Jesus retired with His disciples to the lake, and a great throng from Galilee followed Him. Also from Judea

8 e d anche da Gerusalemme, dall'Idumea e da oltre il Giordano; similmente una gran folla dai dintorni di Tiro e di Sidone, udendo le grandi cose che egli faceva, venne a lui.

And from Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from about Tyre and Sidon—a vast multitude, hearing all the many things that He was doing, came to Him.

9 A llora egli disse ai suoi discepoli di tenergli sempre pronta una barchetta per non essere schiacciato dalla folla.

And He told His disciples to have a little boat in readiness for Him because of the crowd, lest they press hard upon Him and crush Him.

10 P oiché egli ne aveva guariti molti, tutti quelli che avevano malattie si accalcavano attorno a lui per toccarlo,

For He had healed so many that all who had distressing bodily diseases kept falling upon Him and pressing upon Him in order that they might touch Him.

11 E gli spiriti immondi, quando lo vedevano, si prostravano davanti a lui e gridavano, dicendo: «Tu sei il Figlio di Dio!».

And the spirits, the unclean ones, as often as they might see Him, fell down before Him and kept screaming out, You are the Son of God!

12 M a egli li sgridava severamente, perché non dicessero chi egli fosse.

And He charged them strictly and severely under penalty again and again that they should not make Him known.

13 P oi egli salí sul monte, chiamò presso di sé Quelli che volle; ed essi si avvicinarono a lui.

And He went up on the hillside and called to Him '> for Himself] those whom He wanted and chose, and they came to Him.

14 Q uindi ne costituí dodici perché stessero con lui e potesse mandarli a predicare,

And He appointed twelve to continue to be with Him, and that He might send them out to preach

15 e avessero il potere di guarire le infermità e di scacciare i demoni.

And to have authority and power to heal the sick and to drive out demons:

16 E ssi erano: Simone al quale pose nome Pietro;

Simon, and He surnamed Peter;

17 G iacomo figlio di Zebedeo e Giovanni fratello di Giacomo, ai quali diede il nome di Boanerges, che vuol dire: "Figli del tuono";

James son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, and He surnamed them Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder;

18 A ndrea, Filippo, Bartolomeo, Matteo, Tommaso, Giacomo di Alfeo, Taddeo, Simone il Cananeo,

And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew (Nathaniel), and Matthew, and Thomas, and James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus (Judas, not Iscariot), and Simon the Cananaean,

19 e Giuda Iscariota, quello che poi lo tradí.

And Judas Iscariot, he who betrayed Him.

20 P oi entrarono in una casa. E la folla si radunò di nuovo, tanto che non potevano neppure prendere cibo.

Then He went to a house, but a throng came together again, so that Jesus and His disciples could not even take food.

21 E quando i suoi parenti udirono ciò, uscirono per prenderlo, perché dicevano: «Egli è fuori di sé»

And when those who belonged to Him ( His kinsmen) heard it, they went out to take Him by force, for they kept saying, He is out of His mind (beside Himself, deranged)!

22 M a gli scribi, che erano discesi da Gerusalemme, dicevano: «Egli ha Beelzebub e scaccia i demoni con l'aiuto del principe dei demoni».

And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, He is possessed by Beelzebub, and, By the prince of demons He is casting out demons.

23 M a egli, chiamatili a sé, disse loro in parabole: «Come può Satana scacciare Satana?

And He summoned them to Him and said to them in parables (illustrations or comparisons put beside truths to explain them), How can Satan drive out Satan?

24 E se un regno è diviso contro se stesso, quel regno non può durare.

And if a kingdom is divided and rebelling against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25 E se una casa è divisa in parti contrarie, quella casa non può durare.

And if a house is divided (split into factions and rebelling) against itself, that house will not be able to last.

26 C osí, se Satana insorge contro se stesso ed è diviso, non può durare, ma è giunto alla fine.

And if Satan has raised an insurrection against himself and is divided, he cannot stand but is coming to an end.

27 N essuno può entrare in casa dell'uomo forte e rapirgli i suoi beni, se prima non ha legato l'uomo forte; solo allora potrà saccheggiare la sua casa.

But no one can go into a strong man’s house and ransack his household goods right and left and seize them as plunder unless he first binds the strong man; then indeed he may plunder his house.

28 I n verità vi dico che ai figli degli uomini sarà perdonato ogni peccato e qualunque bestemmia essi diranno;

Truly and solemnly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever abusive and blasphemous things they utter;

29 m a chiunque bestemmierà contro lo Spirito Santo, non ha perdono in eterno; ma è sottoposto a giudizio eterno».

But whoever speaks abusively against or maliciously misrepresents the Holy Spirit can never get forgiveness, but is guilty of and is in the grasp of an everlasting trespass.

30 A sseriva questo perché dicevano: «Egli ha uno spirito immondo».

For they persisted in saying, He has an unclean spirit.

31 N el frattempo giunsero i suoi fratelli e sua madre e, fermatisi fuori, lo mandarono a chiamare.

Then His mother and His brothers came and, standing outside, they sent word to Him, calling Him.

32 O r la folla sedeva intorno a lui; e gli dissero: «Ecco, tua madre e i tuoi fratelli sono là fuori e ti cercano».

And a crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, Your mother and Your brothers and Your sisters are outside asking for You.

33 M a egli rispose loro, dicendo: «Chi è mia madre, o i miei fratelli?».

And He replied, Who are My mother and My brothers?

34 P oi guardando in giro su coloro che gli sedevano intorno, disse: «Ecco mia madre e i miei fratelli.

And looking around on those who sat in a circle about Him, He said, See! Here are My mother and My brothers;

35 P oiché chiunque fa la volontà di Dio, questi è mio fratello, mia sorella e madre».

For whoever does the things God wills is My brother and sister and mother!
