1 C ontinuate nell'amore fraterno.

Let love for your fellow believers continue and be a fixed practice with you.

2 N on dimenticate l'ospitalità, perché alcuni, praticandola, hanno ospitato senza saperlo degli angeli.

Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers, for through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.

3 R icordatevi dei carcerati come se foste loro compagni e di quelli che sono maltrattati, sapendo che anche voi siete nel corpo.

Remember those who are in prison as if you were their fellow prisoner, and those who are ill-treated, since you also are liable to bodily sufferings.

4 S ia il matrimonio tenuto in onore da tutti e il letto coniugale sia incontaminato, poiché Dio giudicherà i fornicatori e gli adulteri.

Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste and adulterous.

5 N el vostro comportamento non siate amanti del denaro e accontentatevi di quello che avete, perché Dio stesso ha detto: «Io non ti lascerò e non ti abbandonerò».

Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money and be satisfied with your present; for He Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. not, not, not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let down ( relax My hold on you)! '> Assuredly not!]

6 C osí possiamo dire con fiducia: «Il Signore è il mio aiuto, e io non temerò. Che cosa mi potrà fare l'uomo?».

So we take comfort and are encouraged and confidently and boldly say, The Lord is my Helper; I will not be seized with alarm. What can man do to me?

7 R icordatevi dei vostri conduttori, che vi hanno annunziato la parola di Dio e, considerando il risultato della loro condotta, imitate la loro fede.

Remember your leaders and superiors in authority who brought to you the Word of God. Observe attentively and consider their manner of living (the outcome of their well-spent lives) and imitate their faith ( their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things, the Provider and Bestower of eternal salvation through Christ, and their leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).

8 G esú Cristo è lo stesso ieri, oggi e in eterno.

Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is the same, yesterday, today, and forever (to the ages).

9 N on lasciatevi trasportare qua e là da varie e strane dottrine, perché è bene che il cuore sia reso saldo dalla grazia e non da cibi, da cui non ebbero alcun giovamento quelli che ne fecero uso.

Do not be carried about by different and varied and alien teachings; for it is good for the heart to be established and ennobled and strengthened by means of grace (God’s favor and spiritual blessing) and not foods, which bring no benefit or profit to those who observe them.

10 N oi abbiamo un altare del quale non hanno diritto di mangiare quelli che servono al tabernacolo.

We have an altar from which those who serve and worship in the tabernacle have no right to eat.

11 I nfatti i corpi degli animali, il cui sangue è portato dal sommo sacerdote nel santuario per il peccato, sono bruciati fuori del campo,

For when the blood of animals is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin, the victims’ bodies are burned outside the limits of the camp.

12 P erciò anche Gesú, per santificare il popolo con il proprio sangue, ha sofferto fuori della porta.

Therefore Jesus also suffered and died outside the gate in order that He might purify and consecrate the people through His own blood and set them apart as holy.

13 U sciamo dunque fuori del campo e andiamo a lui portando il suo vituperio.

Let us then go forth to Him outside the camp, bearing the contempt and abuse and shame with Him.

14 I nfatti non abbiamo quaggiù una città stabile, ma cerchiamo quella futura.

For here we have no permanent city, but we are looking for the one which is to come.

15 P er mezzo di lui dunque, offriamo del continuo a Dio un sacrificio di lode, cioè il frutto di labbra che confessano il suo nome.

Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name.

16 E non dimenticate la beneficenza e di far parte dei vostri beni agli altri, perché Dio si compiace di tali sacrifici.

Do not forget or neglect to do kindness and good, to be generous and distribute and contribute to the needy '> as embodiment and proof of fellowship], for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

17 U bbidite ai vostri conduttori e sottomettetevi a loro, perché essi vegliano sulle anime vostre, come chi ha da renderne conto, affinché facciano questo con gioia e non sospirando, perché ciò non vi sarebbe di alcun vantaggio.

Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them, for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account. let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you.

18 P regate per noi, perché crediamo di avere una buona coscienza, desiderando di comportarci rettamente in ogni cosa.

Keep praying for us, for we are convinced that we have a good (clear) conscience, that we want to walk uprightly and live a noble life, acting honorably and in complete honesty in all things.

19 M a vi esorto ancor di piú a fare questo, affinché io vi sia restituito al piú presto.

And I beg of you the more earnestly, in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

20 O ra il Dio della pace, che in virtú del sangue del patto eterno ha fatto risalire dai morti il Signor nostro Gesú Cristo, il grande Pastore delle pecore,

Now may the God of peace, Who brought again from among the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood the everlasting agreement (covenant, testament),

21 v i perfezioni in ogni buona opera, per fare la sua volontà, operando in voi ciò che è gradito davanti a lui per mezzo di Gesú Cristo, al quale sia la gloria nei secoli dei secoli. Amen.

Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it).

22 O ra vi prego, fratelli, ritenete questa parola di esortazione, perché vi ho scritto brevemente.

I call on you, brethren, to listen patiently and bear with this message of exhortation and admonition and encouragement, for I have written to you briefly.

23 S appiate che il fratello Timoteo è stato liberato; se viene presto, vi vedrò con lui.

Notice that our brother Timothy has been released. If he comes here soon, I will see you along with him.

24 S alutate tutti i vostri conduttori e tutti i santi. Quelli d'Italia vi salutano.

Give our greetings to all of your spiritual leaders and to all of the saints (God’s consecrated believers). The Italian Christians send you their greetings.
