1 L 'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè, dicendo:

And the Lord said to Moses,

2 « Dirai ai figli d'Israele: Chiunque dei figli d'Israele o dei forestieri che risiede in Israele darà alcuno dei suoi discendenti a Molek, sarà messo a morte; il popolo del paese lo lapiderà con pietre.

Moreover, you shall say to the Israelites, Any one of the Israelites or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel who gives any of his children to Molech shall surely be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

3 I o stesso volgerò la mia faccia contro quell'uomo e lo sterminerò di mezzo al suo popolo, perché ha dato dei suoi discendenti a Molek per contaminare il mio santuario e profanare il mio santo nome.

I also will set My face against that man and will cut him off from among his people, because he has given of his children to Molech, defiling My sanctuary and profaning My holy name.

4 E se il popolo del paese chiude gli occhi davanti a quell'uomo, quando egli dà i suoi discendenti a Molek, e non lo mette a morte,

And if the people of the land do at all hide their eyes from the man when he gives one of his children to Molech and they overlook it or neglect to take legal action to punish him, winking at his sin, and do not kill him,

5 s arò io a volgere la mia faccia contro quell'uomo e contro la sua famiglia; sterminerò di mezzo al suo popolo lui e tutti quelli che si prostituiscono con lui, prostituendosi a Molek.

Then I will set My face against that man and against his family and will cut him off from among their people, him and all who follow him to play the harlot after Molech.

6 E se una persona si rivolge ai medium e ai maghi per prostituirsi dietro di loro, io volgerò la mia faccia contro quella persona e la sterminerò di mezzo al suo popolo.

The person who turns to those who have familiar spirits and to wizards, playing the harlot after them, I will set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.

7 S antificatevi dunque e siate santi, perché io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am the Lord your God.

8 O sservate i miei statuti e metteteli in pratica. Io sono l'Eterno che vi santifico.

And you shall keep My statutes and do them. I am the Lord Who sanctifies you.

9 C hiunque maledice suo padre o sua madre, sarà messo a morte, perché ha maledetto suo padre o sua madre; il suo sangue ricadrà su di lui.

Everyone who curses his father or mother shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or mother; his bloodguilt is upon him.

10 S e uno commette adulterio con la moglie di un altro, se commette adulterio con la moglie del suo vicino l'adultero e l'adultera saranno messi a morte.

The man who commits adultery with another’s wife, even his neighbor’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

11 S e uno si corica con la moglie di suo padre egli scopre la nudità di suo padre; ambedue saranno certamente messi a morte; il loro sangue ricadrà su di loro.

And the man who lies carnally with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of the guilty ones shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon their own heads.

12 S e uno si corica con sua nuora, ambedue saranno messi a morte; hanno commesso una perversione ripugnante; il loro sangue ricadrà su di loro.

And if a man lies carnally with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have wrought confusion, perversion, and defilement; their blood shall be upon their own heads.

13 S e uno ha relazioni carnali con un uomo come si hanno con una donna, ambedue hanno commesso cosa abominevole; saranno certamente messi a morte; il loro sangue ricadrà su di loro.

If a man lies with a male as if he were a woman, both men have committed an offense (something perverse, unnatural, abhorrent, and detestable); they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

14 S e uno prende in moglie la figlia e la madre è un incesto; si bruceranno col Fuoco tanto lui che loro, affinché non vi sia incesto tra di voi.

And if a man takes a wife and her mother, it is wickedness and an outrageous offense; all three shall be burned with fire, both he and they, that there be no wickedness among you.

15 S e un uomo si accoppia con una bestia, sarà messo a morte; ucciderete anche la bestia.

And if a man lies carnally with a beast, he shall surely be to death, and you shall slay the beast.

16 S e una donna si accosta a una bestia per accoppiarsi con essa, ucciderai la donna e la bestia; saranno certamente messi a morte; il loro sangue ricadrà su di loro.

If a woman approaches any beast and lies carnally with it, you shall the woman and the beast; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.

17 S e uno prende la propria sorella, figlia di suo padre o figlia di sua madre, e vede la nudità di lei ed ella vede la nudità di lui, è un'ignominia; entrambi saranno sterminati davanti agli occhi dei figli del loro popolo; quel tale ha scoperto la nudità della propria sorella; porterà la pena della sua iniquità.

If a man takes his sister, his father’s or his mother’s daughter, and sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a wicked and shameful thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people; he has had sexual relations with his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.

18 S e uno si corica con una donna durante le sue mestruazioni e ne scopre la nudità, egli ha scoperto il flusso di lei, ed ella ha scoperto il flusso del proprio sangue; entrambi saranno sterminati di mezzo al loro popolo.

And if a man shall lie with a woman having her menstrual pains and shall uncover her nakedness, he has made naked her fountain, and she has uncovered the fountain of her blood; and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

19 N on scoprirai la nudità della sorella di tua madre o della sorella di tuo padre, perché quel tale scoprirebbe la nudità di una sua stretta parente; ambedue porteranno la pena della loro iniquità.

You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or of your father’s sister, for that is to make naked his close kin; they shall bear their iniquity.

20 S e uno si corica con la moglie di suo zio scopre la nudità di suo zio; ambedue porteranno la pena del loro peccato; moriranno senza figli.

And if a man shall lie carnally with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.

21 S e uno prende la moglie di suo Fratello, è una cosa impura; egli ha scoperto la nudità di suo fratello; non avranno figli.

And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is impurity; he has uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.

22 O sserverete dunque tutti i miei statuti e tutti i miei decreti e li metterete in pratica, affinché il paese dove io vi conduco ad abitare non vi vomiti fuori,

You shall therefore keep all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them, that the land where I am bringing you to dwell may not vomit you out.

23 E non seguirete le usanze delle nazioni che io sto per scacciare davanti a voi; esse hanno fatto tutte queste cose, e perciò le ho in abominio,

You shall not walk in the customs of the nation which I am casting out before you; for they did all these things, and therefore I was wearied and grieved by them.

24 M a a voi ho detto: Voi prenderete possesso del loro paese; ve lo darò come vostra proprietà; è un paese dove scorre latte e miele, Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, che vi ho separato dagli altri popoli,

But I have said to you, You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the Lord your God, Who has separated you from the peoples.

25 F arete dunque distinzione fra gli animali puri e quelli impuri, fra gli uccelli impuri e quelli puri, e non vi renderete abominevoli, mangiando animali, uccelli o cosa alcuna che striscia sulla terra e che io ho separato per voi come impuri.

You shall therefore make a distinction between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable with beast or with bird or with anything with which the ground teems or that creeps, which I have set apart from you as unclean.

26 E sarete santi per me, poiché io l'Eterno, sono santo, e vi ho separati dagli altri popoli perché foste miei,

And you shall be holy to Me; for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.

27 S e un uomo o una donna è un medium o un mago, saranno sicuramente messi a morte; li lapiderete con pietre; il loro sangue ricadrà su di loro».

A man or woman who is a medium and has a familiar spirit or is a wizard shall surely be put to death, be stoned with stones; their blood shall be upon them.
