1 ¶ Blessed be the LORD my strength, who trains my hands for the battle and my fingers for the war:
Blessed be the Lord, my Rock and my keen and firm Strength, Who teaches my hands to war and my fingers to fight—
2 M y mercy and my fortress; my high tower and my deliverer; my shield and he in whom I trust, who subdues my people under me.
My Steadfast Love and my Fortress, my High Tower and my Deliverer, my Shield and He in Whom I trust and take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.
3 L ORD, what is man that thou knowest him? or the son of man, that thou esteemeth him?
Lord, what is man that You take notice of him? Or son of man that You take account of him?
4 M an is like unto vanity; his days are as a shadow that passes away.
Man is like vanity and a breath; his days are as a shadow that passes away.
5 B ow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
Bow Your heavens, O Lord, and come down; touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
6 C ast forth lightning and scatter them; shoot out thine arrows and destroy them.
Cast forth lightning and scatter; send out Your arrows and embarrass and frustrate them.
7 S end thine hand from above; redeem me and deliver me out of many waters, from the hand of the strange sons,
Stretch forth Your hand from above; rescue me and deliver me out of great waters, from the hands of hostile aliens (tribes around us)
8 w hose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
Whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands fraudulent oaths.
9 ¶ I will sing a new song unto thee, O God; upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises unto thee.
I will sing a new song to You, O God; upon a harp, an instrument of ten strings, will I offer praises to You.
10 T hou, he who gives salvation unto kings, who redeems David his slave from the evil sword.
You are He Who gives salvation to kings, Who rescues David His servant from the hurtful sword.
11 R edeem me, and save me from the hand of strange sons, whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
Rescue me and deliver me out of the power of alien whose mouths speak deceit and whose right hands are right hands fraudulent oaths.
12 T hat our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace;
When our sons shall be as plants grown large in their youth and our daughters as sculptured corner pillars hewn like those of a palace;
13 t hat our garners may be full, affording all manner of store; that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets;
When our garners are full, affording all manner of store, and our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our pastures;
14 t hat our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in nor going out; that there be no shout of alarm in our streets.
When our oxen are well loaded; when there is no invasion and no going forth and no outcry in our streets;
15 B lessed is that people, that is in such a case; yea, blessed is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Happy and blessed are the people who are in such a case; yes, happy (blessed, fortunate, prosperous, to be envied) are the people whose God is the Lord!
