1 ¶ My heart is overflowing with a good word; I speak of the things which I have done concerning the king; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
My heart overflows with a goodly theme; I address my psalm to a King. My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.
2 T hou art fairer than the sons of men, grace is poured into thy lips; therefore God has blessed thee for ever.
You are fairer than the children of men; graciousness is poured upon Your lips; therefore God has blessed You forever.
3 G ird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most valiant, with thy glory and thy majesty.
Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O mighty One, in Your glory and Your majesty!
4 A nd in thy majesty be prospered; ride upon the word of truth and of humility and of righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
And in Your majesty ride on triumphantly for the cause of truth, humility, and righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God); and let Your right hand guide You to tremendous things.
5 T hine arrows, by which the peoples fall under thee, penetrate the heart of the enemies of the king.
Your arrows are sharp; the peoples fall under You; Your darts pierce the hearts of the King’s enemies.
6 ¶ Thy throne, O God, is eternal and for ever, the rod of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; the scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
7 T hou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
You love righteousness, uprightness, and right standing with God and hate wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness above Your fellows.
8 A ll thy garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made thee glad.
Your garments are all fragrant with myrrh, aloes, and cassia; stringed instruments make You glad.
9 K ings’ daughters were among thy honourable women; the queen stands at thy right hand with a crown of gold from Ophir.
Kings’ daughters are among Your honorable women; at Your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.
10 ¶ Hearken, O daughter, and consider and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house;
Hear, O daughter, consider, submit, and consent to my instruction: forget also your own people and your father’s house;
11 s o shall the king greatly desire thy beauty; and bow before him, for he is thy Lord.
So will the King desire your beauty; because He is your Lord, be submissive and reverence and honor Him.
12 A nd the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.
And, O daughter of Tyre, the richest of the people shall entreat your favor with a gift.
13 T he king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
The King’s daughter in the inner part is all glorious; her clothing is inwrought with gold.
14 S he shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework; the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
She shall be brought to the King in raiment of needlework; with the virgins, her companions that follow her, she shall be brought to You.
15 W ith gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought; they shall enter into the king’s palace.
With gladness and rejoicing will they be brought; they will enter into the King’s palace.
16 I nstead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth.
Instead of Your fathers shall be Your sons, whom You will make princes in all the land.
17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the people praise thee eternally and for ever.
I will make Your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the people praise and give You thanks forever and ever.
