1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Enter thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.

And the Lord said to Noah, Come with all your household into the ark, for I have seen you to be righteous (upright and in right standing) before Me in this generation.

2 O f every clean animal thou shalt take to thee seven pairs, the male and his female; but of animals that are not clean, two, the male and his female.

Of every clean beast you shall receive and take with you seven pairs, the male and his mate, and of beasts that are not clean a pair of each kind, the male and his mate,

3 O f fowls also of the heavens by seven pairs, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

Also of the birds of the air seven pairs, the male and the female, to keep seed alive over all the earth or land.

4 F or yet in seven days, I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every substance that I have made I will destroy from off the face of the earth.

For in seven days I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living substance and thing that I have made I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away from the face of the earth.

5 And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.

6 A nd Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

Noah was 600 years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth or land.

7 A nd Noah went in and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him into the ark because of the waters of the flood.

And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him went into the ark because of the waters of the flood.

8 O f clean animals and of animals that are not clean and of fowls and of every thing that moves upon the earth,

Of clean animals and of animals that are not clean, and of birds and fowls, and of everything that creeps on the ground,

9 t here went in two by two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

There went in two and two with Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.

10 A nd it came to pass after seven days that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

And after the seven days the floodwaters came upon the earth or land.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of the heavens were opened.

In the year 600 of Noah’s life, in the seventeenth day of the second month, that same day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up and burst forth, and the windows and floodgates of the heavens were opened.

12 A nd there was rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

And it rained upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

13 In that same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered into the ark,

On the very same day Noah and Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, went into the ark,

14 t hey and every animal after its kind and all the beasts after their kind and every creeping thing that moves upon the earth after its kind and every fowl after its kind, every bird, every thing with wings.

They and every beast according to its kind, all the livestock according to their kinds, every moving thing that creeps on the land according to its kind, and every fowl according to its kind, every winged thing of every sort.

15 A nd they went in unto Noah into the ark, two by two of all flesh in which is the spirit of life.

And they went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there were the breath and spirit of life.

16 A nd those that went in went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him, and the LORD shut him in.

And they that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded; and the Lord shut him in and closed round about him.

17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth, and the waters multiplied and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth.

The flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased and bore up the ark, and it was lifted above the land.

18 A nd the waters prevailed and multiplied greatly upon the earth, and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

And the waters became mighty and increased greatly upon the land, and the ark went upon the surface of the waters.

19 A nd the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, and all the high mountains that were under all the heavens were covered.

And the waters prevailed so exceedingly and were so mighty upon the earth that all the high hills under the whole sky were covered.

20 F ifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered.

the waters became fifteen cubits higher, as the high hills were covered.

21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl and of beasts and of animals and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth and every man;

And all flesh ceased to breathe that moved upon the earth—fowls and birds, animals, beasts, all swarming and creeping things that swarm and creep upon the land, and all mankind.

22 a ll in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life of all that was in the dry land died.

Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils were the breath and spirit of life died.

23 A nd every substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man and cattle and the animals and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth, and only Noah remained alive and those that were with him in the ark.

God destroyed (blotted out) every living thing that was upon the face of the earth; man and animals and the creeping things and the birds of the heavens were destroyed (blotted out) from the land. Only Noah remained alive, and those who were with him in the ark.

24 A nd the waters prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days.

And the waters prevailed upon the earth or land 150 days (five months).
