1 ¶ Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.

Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2 G ive unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Give to the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness or in holy array.

3 T he voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thunders: the LORD is upon many waters.

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders; the Lord is upon many (great) waters.

4 T he voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

5 T he voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; yea, the LORD broke the cedars of Lebanon.

The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; yes, the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

6 A nd He made them skip like a calves; Lebanon and Sirion like the sons of the unicorns.

He makes them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion (Mount Hermon) like a young, wild ox.

7 T he voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire.

The voice of the Lord splits and flashes forth forked lightning.

8 T he voice of the LORD that shall shake the wilderness; the LORD shall shake the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the Lord makes the wilderness tremble; the Lord shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh.

9 T he voice of the LORD shall make the hinds to calve and shall uncover the forests: and in his temple every one speaks to his glory.

The voice of the Lord makes the hinds bring forth their young, and His voice strips bare the forests, while in His temple everyone is saying, Glory!

10 T he LORD sits upon the flood; yea, the LORD sat down as King for ever.

The Lord sat as King over the deluge; the Lord sits as King forever!

11 T he LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people in peace.

The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.
