1 ¶ Then I turned and lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold a flying roll.
Again I lifted up my eyes and behold, I saw a scroll flying or floating in the air!
2 A nd he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof is twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits.
And the angel said to me, What do you see? And I answered, I see a flying scroll; its length is twenty cubits or thirty feet and its breadth is ten cubits or fifteen feet.
3 T hen said he unto me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth; for every one that steals (as it is written on one side of the roll) shall be destroyed; and every one that swears (as it is written on the other side of the roll) shall be destroyed.
Then he said to me, This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land; for everyone who steals shall be cut off from henceforth according to it, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cut off from henceforth according to it.
4 I brought it forth, said the LORD of the hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him that swears falsely by my name; and it shall remain in the midst of his house and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.
I will bring forth, says the Lord of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief and into the house of him who swears falsely by My name; and it shall abide in the midst of his house and shall consume it, both its timber and its stones.
5 ¶ Then the angel that talked with me went forth and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes and see what is this that goes forth.
Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, Lift up now your eyes and see what this is that goes forth.
6 A nd I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah to measure wheat that goes forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance in all the earth.
And I said, What is it? And he said, This that goes forth is an ephah. This, he continued, is the symbol of the sinners mentioned above and is the resemblance of their iniquity throughout the whole land.
7 A nd, behold, they lifted up a talent of lead, and a woman was sitting in the midst of that ephah.
And behold, a round, flat weight of lead was lifted and there sat a woman in the midst of the ephah.
8 A nd he said, This is wickedness. And he cast her into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
And he said, This is lawlessness (wickedness)! And he thrust her back into the ephah and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth of it!
9 T hen I lifted up my eyes and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens.
Then lifted I up my eyes and looked, and behold, there were two women coming forward! The wind was in their wings, for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heavens.
10 T hen I said to the angel that talked with me, Where do these bear the ephah?
Then said I to the angel who talked with me, Where are they taking the ephah?
11 A nd he said unto me, To build it a house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.
And he said to me, To the land of Shinar to build it a house, and when it is finished, to set up the ephah there upon its own base.
