1 ¶ The LORD reigns; the peoples shall tremble; he who sits above the cherubim reigns; the earth shall be moved.

The Lord reigns, let the peoples tremble! He sits above the cherubim, let the earth quake!

2 T he LORD is great in Zion, and he is high above all the peoples.

3 L et them praise thy great and terrible name, for it is holy.

Let them confess and praise Your great name, awesome and reverence inspiring! It is holy, and holy is He!

4 T he king’s strength is that he loves judgment; thou dost establish equity; thou dost execute judgment and righteousness in Jacob.

The strength of the king who loves righteousness and equity You establish in uprightness; You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob (Israel).

5 E xalt ye the LORD our God and worship at the footstool of his feet, which is holy.

Extol the Lord our God and worship at His footstool! Holy is He!

6 ¶ Moses and Aaron are among his priests and Samuel among those that call upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.

Moses and Aaron were among His priests, and Samuel was among those who called upon His name; they called upon the Lord, and He answered them.

7 H e spoke unto them in the pillar of fire; they kept his testimonies and the order that he gave them.

He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; they kept His testimonies and the statutes that He gave them.

8 T hou didst answer them, O LORD our God; thou wast a God that didst forgive them, and an avenger for their works.

You answered them, O Lord our God; You were a forgiving God to them, although avenging their evildoing and wicked practices.

9 E xalt the LORD our God and worship at the mountain of his holiness, for the LORD our God is holy.

Extol the Lord our God and worship at His holy hill, for the Lord our God is holy!
