1 J ehovah, rebuke me not in thy wrath; neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
O Lord, rebuke me not in Your wrath, neither chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
2 F or thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand cometh down upon me.
For Your arrows have sunk into me and stick fast, and Your hand has come down upon me and pressed me sorely.
3 T here is no soundness in my flesh because of thine indignation; no peace in my bones, because of my sin.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation; neither is there any health or rest in my bones because of my sin.
4 F or mine iniquities are gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
For my iniquities have gone over my head; as a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
5 M y wounds stink, they are corrupt, because of my foolishness.
My wounds are loathsome and corrupt because of my foolishness.
6 I am depressed; I am bowed down beyond measure; I go mourning all the day.
I am bent and bowed down greatly; I go about mourning all the day long.
7 F or my loins are full of burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh.
For my loins are filled with burning; and there is no soundness in my flesh.
8 I am faint and broken beyond measure; I roar by reason of the agitation of my heart.
I am faint and sorely bruised; I groan by reason of the disquiet and moaning of my heart.
9 L ord, all my desire is before thee, and my sighing is not hid from thee.
Lord, all my desire is before You; and my sighing is not hidden from You.
10 M y heart throbbeth, my strength hath left me; and the light of mine eyes, it also is no more with me.
My heart throbs, my strength fails me; as for the light of my eyes, it also is gone from me.
11 M y lovers and mine associates stand aloof from my stroke; and my kinsmen stand afar off.
My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my plague; and my neighbors and my near ones stand afar off.
12 A nd they that seek after my life lay snares; and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and meditate deceits all the day long.
They also that seek and demand my life lay snares for me, and they that seek and require my hurt speak crafty and mischievous things; they meditate treachery and deceit all the day long.
13 B ut I, as a deaf, hear not; and am as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth.
But I, like a deaf man, hear not; and I am like a dumb man who opens not his mouth.
14 Y ea, I am as a man that heareth not, and in whose mouth are no reproofs.
Yes, I have become like a man who hears not, in whose mouth are no arguments or replies.
15 F or in thee, Jehovah, do I hope: thou wilt answer, O Lord my God.
For in You, O Lord, do I hope; You will answer, O Lord my God.
16 F or I said, Let them not rejoice over me! When my foot slipped, they magnified against me.
For I pray, Let them not rejoice over me, who when my foot slips boast against me.
17 F or I am ready to halt, and my pain is continually before me.
For I am ready to halt and fall; my pain and sorrow are continually before me.
18 F or I will declare mine iniquity, I am grieved for my sin.
For I do confess my guilt and iniquity; I am filled with sorrow for my sin.
19 B ut mine enemies are lively, they are strong; and they that hate me wrongfully are multiplied:
But my enemies are vigorous and strong, and those who hate me wrongfully are multiplied.
20 A nd they that render evil for good are adversaries unto me; because I pursue what is good.
They also that render evil for good are adversaries to me, because I follow the thing that is good.
21 F orsake me not, Jehovah; O my God, be not far from me.
Forsake me not, O Lord; O my God, be not far from me.
22 M ake haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation.
Make haste to help me, O Lord, my Salvation.
