Psalm 7 ~ Psalm 7

picture

1 J ehovah my God, in thee have I trusted: save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me;

O Lord my God, in You I take refuge and put my trust; save me from all those who pursue and persecute me, and deliver me,

2 L est he tear my soul like a lion, crushing it while there is no deliverer.

Lest my foe tear my life like a lion, dragging me away while there is none to deliver.

3 J ehovah my God, if I have done this, if there be iniquity in my hands;

O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is wrong in my hands,

4 I f I have rewarded evil to him that was at peace with me; (indeed I have freed him that without cause oppressed me;)

If I have paid back with evil him who was at peace with me or without cause have robbed him who was my enemy,

5 L et the enemy pursue after my soul, and take, and let him tread down my life to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

Let the enemy pursue my life and take it; yes, let him trample my life to the ground and lay my honor in the dust. Selah!

6 A rise, Jehovah, in thine anger; lift thyself up against the raging of mine oppressors, and awake for me: thou hast commanded judgment.

Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; lift up Yourself against the rage of my enemies; and awake for me the justice and vindication You have commanded.

7 A nd the assembly of the peoples shall encompass thee; and for their sakes return thou on high.

Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about You, and return on high over them.

8 J ehovah shall minister judgment to the peoples. Judge me, Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity which is in me.

The Lord judges the people; judge me, O Lord, and do me justice according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.

9 O h let the wrong of the wicked come to an end, and establish thou the righteous; even thou that triest the hearts and reins, the righteous God.

Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; for You, Who try the hearts and emotions and thinking powers, are a righteous God.

10 M y shield is with God, who saveth the upright in heart.

My defense and shield depend on God, Who saves the upright in heart.

11 G od is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant all the day.

God is a righteous Judge, yes, a God Who is indignant every day.

12 I f one turn not, he will sharpen his sword; he hath bent his bow and made it ready,

If a man does not turn and repent, will whet His sword; He has strung and bent His bow and made it ready.

13 A nd he hath prepared for him instruments of death; his arrows hath he made burning.

He has also prepared for him deadly weapons; He makes His arrows fiery shafts.

14 B ehold, he travaileth with iniquity, yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood:

Behold, conceives iniquity and is pregnant with mischief and gives birth to lies.

15 H e digged a pit, and hollowed it out, and is fallen into the hole that he made.

He made a pit and hollowed it out and has fallen into the hole which he made.

16 H is mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violence shall come down upon his own pate.

His mischief shall fall back in return upon his own head, and his violence come down upon his own scalp.

17 I will praise Jehovah according to his righteousness, and will sing forth the name of Jehovah the Most High.

I will give to the Lord the thanks due to His rightness and justice, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
