1 T hen sang Moses and the children of Israel this song to Jehovah, and spoke, saying, I will sing unto Jehovah, for he is highly exalted: The horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord, saying, I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider or its chariot has He thrown into the sea.

2 M y strength and song is Jah, and he is become my salvation: This is my God, and I will glorify him; My father's God, and I will extol him.

The Lord is my Strength and my Song, and He has become my Salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him.

3 J ehovah is a man of war; Jehovah, his name.

The Lord is a Man of War; the Lord is His name.

4 P haraoh's chariots and his army hath he cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea.

Pharaoh’s chariots and his host has He cast into the sea; his chosen captains also are sunk in the Red Sea.

5 T he depths covered them; they sank to the bottom as a stone.

The floods cover them; they sank in the depths like a stone.

6 T hy right hand, Jehovah, is become glorious in power: Thy right hand, Jehovah, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.

7 A nd by the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown thine adversaries: Thou sentest forth thy burning wrath, it consumed them as stubble.

In the greatness of Your majesty You overthrow those rising against You. You send forth Your fury; it consumes them like stubble.

8 A nd by the breath of thy nostrils the waters were heaped up; The streams stood as a mound; The depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

With the blast of Your nostrils the waters piled up, the floods stood fixed in a heap, the deeps congealed in the heart of the sea.

9 T he enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my soul shall be sated upon them; I will unsheath my sword, my hand shall dispossess them.

The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my desire shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

10 T hou didst blow with thy breath, the sea covered them; They sank as lead in the mighty waters.

You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them; they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

11 W ho is like unto thee, Jehovah, among the gods? Who is like unto thee, glorifying thyself in holiness, Fearful praises, doing wonders?

Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, doing wonders?

12 T hou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.

You stretched out Your right hand, the earth’s swallowed them.

13 T hou by thy mercy hast led forth the people that thou hast redeemed; Thou hast guided them by thy strength unto the abode of thy holiness.

You in Your mercy and loving-kindness have led forth the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.

14 T he peoples heard it, they were afraid: A thrill seized the inhabitants of Philistia.

The peoples have heard of it; they tremble; pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia.

15 T hen the princes of Edom were amazed; The mighty men of Moab, trembling hath seized them; All the inhabitants of Canaan melted away.

Now the chiefs of Edom are dismayed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling takes hold of them; all the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away—little by little.

16 F ear and dread fall upon them; By the greatness of thine arm they are still as a stone; Till thy people pass over, Jehovah, Till the people pass over that thou hast purchased.

Terror and dread fall upon them; because of the greatness of Your arm they are as still as a stone—till Your people pass by and over, O Lord, till the people pass by whom You have purchased.

17 T hou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, The place that thou, Jehovah, hast made thy dwelling, The Sanctuary, Lord, that thy hands have prepared.

You will bring them in and plant them on Your own mountain, the place, O Lord, You have made for Your dwelling, the sanctuary, O Lord, which Your hands have established.

18 J ehovah shall reign for ever and ever!

The Lord will reign forever and ever.

19 F or the horse of Pharaoh, with his chariots and with his horsemen, came into the sea, and Jehovah brought again the waters of the sea upon them; and the children of Israel went on dry through the midst of the sea.

For the horses of Pharaoh went with his chariots and horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought back the waters of the sea upon them, but the Israelites walked on dry ground in the midst of the sea.

20 A nd Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the tambour in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambours and with dances.

22 A nd Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

24 A nd the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?

25 A nd he cried to Jehovah; and Jehovah shewed him wood, and he cast it into the waters, and the waters became sweet. There he made for them a statute and an ordinance; and there he tested them.

And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree which he cast into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there He proved them,

26 A nd he said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and do what is right in his eyes, and incline thine ears to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the complaints upon thee that I have put upon the Egyptians; for I am Jehovah who healeth thee.

Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.

27 A nd they came to Elim; and twelve springs of water were there, and seventy palm trees; and they encamped there by the waters.

And they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees; and they encamped there by the waters.
