1 A nd they brought in the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had spread for it; and they presented burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before God.

So they brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent which David had pitched for it, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.

2 A nd when David had ended offering up the burnt-offerings and the peace-offerings, he blessed the people in the name of Jehovah.

And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.

3 A nd he dealt to every one of Israel, both man and woman, to every one a loaf of bread and a measure and a raisin-cake.

And he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a portion of meat, and a cake of raisins.

4 A nd he appointed certain of the Levites to do the service before the ark of Jehovah, and to celebrate, and to thank and praise Jehovah the God of Israel:

He appointed Levites to minister before the ark of the Lord and to celebrate, thanking and praising the Lord, the God of Israel:

5 A saph the chief, and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah and Obed-Edom, and Jeiel, with instruments of lutes and with harps; and Asaph sounding with cymbals;

Asaph was the chief, next to him Zechariah, Jeiel (Jaaziel), Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, and Benaiah, Obed-edom and Jeiel, who were to play harps and lyres; Asaph was to sound the cymbals;

6 a nd Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were to blow trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.

7 T hen on that day David delivered first to give thanks to Jehovah through Asaph and his brethren.

Then on that day David first entrusted to Asaph and his brethren the singing of thanks to the Lord:

8 G ive thanks unto Jehovah, call upon his name; Make known his acts among the peoples.

O give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known His doings among the peoples!

9 S ing unto him, sing psalms unto him; Meditate upon all his wondrous works.

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; meditate on and talk of all His wondrous works and devoutly praise them!

10 G lory in his holy name: Let the heart of them rejoice that seek Jehovah.

Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!

11 S eek Jehovah and his strength, Seek his face continually;

Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!

12 R emember his wondrous works which he hath done; His miracles, and the judgments of his mouth:

remember the marvelous deeds which He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He uttered,

13 Y e seed of Israel his servant, Ye sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.

O you offspring of of Israel His servants, you children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

14 H e, Jehovah, is our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth.

15 B e ye ever mindful of his covenant, The word which he commanded to a thousand generations,—

Be mindful of His covenant forever, the promise which He commanded and established to a thousand generations,

16 W hich he made with Abraham, And of his oath unto Isaac;

The covenant which He made with Abraham, and His sworn promise to Isaac.

17 A nd he confirmed it unto Jacob for a statute, Unto Israel for an everlasting covenant,

He confirmed it as a statute to Jacob, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

18 S aying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, The lot of your inheritance;

Saying, To you I will give the land of Canaan, the measured portion of your possession and inheritance.

19 W hen ye were a few men in number, Of small account, and strangers in it.

When they were but few, even a very few, and only temporary residents and strangers in it,

20 A nd they went from nation to nation, And from one kingdom to another people.

When they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,

21 H e suffered no man to oppress them, And reproved kings for their sakes,

He allowed no man to do them wrong; yes, He reproved kings for their sakes,

22 T ouch not mine anointed ones, And do my prophets no harm.

Saying, Touch not My anointed, and do My prophets no harm.

23 S ing unto Jehovah, all the earth; Publish his salvation from day to day.

Sing to the Lord, all the earth; show forth from day to day His salvation.

24 D eclare his glory among the nations, His wondrous works among all peoples.

Declare His glory among the nations, His marvelous works among all peoples.

25 F or Jehovah is great, and exceedingly to be praised; And he is terrible above all gods.

For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; He also is to be feared above all so-called gods.

26 F or all the gods of the peoples are idols; But Jehovah made the heavens.

For all the gods of the people are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.

27 M ajesty and splendour are before him; Strength and gladness in his place.

Honor and majesty are in His presence; strength and joy are in His sanctuary.

28 G ive unto Jehovah, ye families of peoples, Give unto Jehovah glory and strength!

Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength,

29 G ive unto Jehovah the glory of his name! Bring an oblation, and come before him: Worship Jehovah in holy splendour.

Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name. Bring an offering and come before Him; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness and in holy array.

30 T remble before him, all the earth: The world also is established, it shall not be moved.

Tremble and reverently fear before Him, all the earth’s peoples; the world also shall be established, so it cannot be moved.

31 L et the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, Jehovah reigneth!

Let the heavens be glad and let the earth rejoice; and let men say among the nations, The Lord reigns!

32 L et the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; Let the field exult, and all that is therein.

Let the sea roar, and all the things that fill it; let the fields rejoice, and all that is in them.

33 T hen shall the trees of the forest sing out at the presence of Jehovah, For he cometh to judge the earth.

Then shall the trees of the wood sing out for joy before the Lord, for He comes to judge and govern the earth.

34 G ive thanks unto Jehovah, for he is good; For his loving-kindness for ever.

O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!

35 A nd say, Save us, O God of our salvation, And gather us, and deliver us from the nations, To give thanks unto thy holy name, To triumph in thy praise.

And say, Save us, O God of our salvation; gather us together and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to Your holy name and glory in Your praise.

36 B lessed be Jehovah the God of Israel, from eternity and to eternity! And all the people said, Amen! and praised Jehovah.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, forever and ever! And all the people said Amen! and praised the Lord.

37 A nd he left there, before the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, Asaph and his brethren, to do the service before the ark continually, as every day's duty required;

So David left Asaph and his brethren before the ark of the covenant of the Lord to minister before the ark continually, as each day’s work required,

38 a nd Obed-Edom, and their brethren, sixty-eight; Obed-Edom also, the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah as doorkeepers.

And Obed-edom with sixty-eight kinsmen. Also Obed-edom son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, were to be gatekeepers.

39 A nd Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of Jehovah in the high place that was at Gibeon,

And David left Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place that was at Gibeon

40 t o offer up burnt-offerings to Jehovah on the altar of burnt-offering continually, morning and evening, and according to all that is written in the law of Jehovah, which he commanded Israel;

To offer burnt offerings to the Lord upon the altar of burnt offering continually, morning and evening, and to do all that is written in the Law of the Lord which He commanded Israel.

41 a nd with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to Jehovah, because his loving-kindness for ever;

With them were Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen and expressly named to give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever.

42 a nd with them, Heman and Jeduthun, trumpets and cymbals for those that should sound aloud; and the musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were at the gate.

With them were Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who should sound aloud, and instruments for accompanying the songs of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were to be at the gate.

43 A nd all the people departed every one to his house; and David returned to bless his household.

Then all the people departed, each man to his house, and David returned home to bless his household.
