1 A rise, shine! for thy light is come, and the glory of Jehovah is risen upon thee.
Arise! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you!
2 F or behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but Jehovah will arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen on thee.

3 A nd the nations shall walk by thy light, and kings by the brightness of thy rising.
And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.
4 L ift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons come from afar, and thy daughters are carried upon the side.
Lift up your eyes round about you and see! They all gather themselves together, they come to you. Your sons shall come from afar, and your daughters shall be carried and nursed in the arms.
5 T hen thou shalt see, and shalt be brightened, and thy heart shall throb, and be enlarged; for the abundance of the sea shall be turned unto thee, the wealth of the nations shall come unto thee.
Then you shall see and be radiant, and your heart shall thrill and tremble with joy and be enlarged; because the abundant wealth of the Sea shall be turned to you, unto you shall the nations come with their treasures.
6 A multitude of camels shall cover thee, young camels of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall publish the praises of Jehovah.

7 A ll the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall serve thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will beautify the house of my magnificence.
All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered to you, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you; they shall come up with acceptance on My altar, and My glorious house I will glorify.
8 W ho are these that come flying as a cloud, and as doves to their dove-cotes?
Who are these who fly like a cloud, and like doves to their windows?
9 F or the isles shall await me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from afar, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of Jehovah thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, for he hath glorified thee.
Surely the isles and distant coastlands shall wait for and expect Me; and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from afar, their silver and gold with them, for the name of the Lord your God, for the Holy One of Israel, because He has beautified and glorified you.
10 A nd the sons of the alien shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee. For in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.
Foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you; for in My wrath I smote you, but in My favor, pleasure, and goodwill I have had mercy, love, and pity for you.
11 A nd thy gates shall stand open continually: (they shall not be shut day nor night,) that the wealth of the nations may be brought unto thee, and that their kings may be led.
And your gates shall be open continually, they shall not be shut day or night, that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations—and their kings led in procession.
12 F or the nation and the kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; and those nations shall be utterly wasted.
For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you in that day shall perish; yes, those nations shall be utterly laid waste.
13 T he glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the cypress, pine, and box-tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.

14 A nd the children of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee The city of Jehovah, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
The sons of those who afflicted you shall come bending low to you, and all those who despised you shall bow down at your feet, and they shall call you the City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
15 I nstead of thy being forsaken and hated, so that no one went through, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy from generation to generation.
Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no man passed through you, I will make you an eternal glory, a joy from age to age.
16 A nd thou shalt suck the milk of the nations, and shalt suck the breast of kings; and thou shalt know that I, Jehovah, thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
You shall suck the milk of the nations and shall suck the breast of kings; and you shall recognize and know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.
17 F or bronze I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood bronze, and for stones iron; and I will make thine officers peace, and thy rulers righteousness.
Instead of bronze I will bring gold, and instead of iron I will bring silver; and instead of wood, bronze, and instead of stones, iron. I will appoint peace as your officers and righteousness as your taskmasters.
18 V iolence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise.
Violence shall no more be heard in your land, nor devastation or destruction within your borders, but you shall call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.
19 T he sun shall be no more thy light by day, neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee; but Jehovah shall be thine everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
The sun shall no more be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you, but the Lord shall be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory and your beauty.
20 T hy sun shall no more go down, neither shall thy moon withdraw itself; for Jehovah shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

21 T hy people also shall be all righteous: they shall possess the land for ever—the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified.

22 T he little one shall become a thousand, and the smallest a mighty nation: I, Jehovah, will hasten it in its time.
