1 C hrist made us free. Stay that way. Do not get chained all over again in the Law and its kind of religious worship.

C'est pour la liberté que Christ nous a affranchis. Demeurez donc fermes, et ne vous laissez pas mettre de nouveau sous le joug de la servitude.

2 L isten to me! I, Paul, tell you that if you have the religious act of becoming a Jew done on you, Christ will be of no use to you at all.

Voici, moi Paul, je vous dis que, si vous vous faites circoncire, Christ ne vous servira de rien.

3 I say it again. Every man who has the religious act of becoming a Jew done on him must obey every Law.

Et je proteste encore une fois à tout homme qui se fait circoncire, qu'il est tenu de pratiquer la loi tout entière.

4 I f you expect to be made right with God by obeying the Law, then you have turned away from Christ and His loving-favor.

Vous êtes séparés de Christ, vous tous qui cherchez la justification dans la loi; vous êtes déchus de la grâce.

5 W e are waiting for the hope of being made right with God. This will come through the Holy Spirit and by faith.

Pour nous, c'est de la foi que nous attendons, par l'Esprit, l'espérance de la justice.

6 I f we belong to Jesus Christ, it means nothing to have or not to have gone through the religious act of becoming a Jew. But faith working through love is important.

Car, en Jésus Christ, ni la circoncision ni l'incirconcision n'a de valeur, mais la foi qui est agissante par la charité.

7 Y ou were doing well. Who stopped you from obeying the truth?

Vous couriez bien: qui vous a arrêtés, pour vous empêcher d'obéir à la vérité?

8 W hatever he used did not come from the One Who chose you to have life.

Cette influence ne vient pas de celui qui vous appelle.

9 I t only takes a little yeast to make the whole loaf of bread rise.

Un peu de levain fait lever toute la pâte.

10 I feel I can trust you because of what the Lord has done in your life. I believe you will not follow another way. Whoever is trying to lead you in the wrong way will suffer for it.

J'ai cette confiance en vous, dans le Seigneur, que vous ne penserez pas autrement. Mais celui qui vous trouble, quel qu'il soit, en portera la peine.

11 C hristian brothers, if I would still preach that people must go through the religious act of becoming a Jew to be a Christian, I would not be suffering from those who are making it hard for me. If I preached like that, the Jews would have no reason to be against the cross of Christ.

Pour moi, frères, si je prêche encore la circoncision, pourquoi suis-je encore persécuté? Le scandale de la croix a donc disparu!

12 I wish those who are so willing to cut your bodies would complete the job by cutting themselves off from you.

Puissent-ils être retranchés, ceux qui mettent le trouble parmi vous!

13 C hristian brother, you were chosen to be free. Be careful that you do not please your old selves by sinning because you are free. Live this free life by loving and helping others.

Frères, vous avez été appelés à la liberté, seulement ne faites pas de cette liberté un prétexte de vivre selon la chair; mais rendez-vous, par la charité, serviteurs les uns des autres.

14 Y ou obey the whole Law when you do this one thing, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.”

Car toute la loi est accomplie dans une seule parole, dans celle-ci: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.

15 B ut if you hurt and make it hard for each other, watch out or you may be destroyed by each other.

Mais si vous vous mordez et vous dévorez les uns les autres, prenez garde que vous ne soyez détruits les uns par les autres.

16 I say this to you: Let the Holy Spirit lead you in each step. Then you will not please your sinful old selves.

Je dis donc: Marchez selon l'Esprit, et vous n'accomplirez pas les désirs de la chair.

17 T he things our old selves want to do are against what the Holy Spirit wants. The Holy Spirit does not agree with what our sinful old selves want. These two are against each other. So you cannot do what you want to do.

Car la chair a des désirs contraires à ceux de l'Esprit, et l'Esprit en a de contraires à ceux de la chair; ils sont opposés entre eux, afin que vous ne fassiez point ce que vous voudriez.

18 I f you let the Holy Spirit lead you, the Law no longer has power over you.

Si vous êtes conduits par l'Esprit, vous n'êtes point sous la loi.

19 T he things your sinful old self wants to do are: sex sins, sinful desires, wild living,

Or, les oeuvres de la chair sont manifestes, ce sont l'impudicité, l'impureté, la dissolution,

20 w orshiping false gods, witchcraft, hating, fighting, being jealous, being angry, arguing, dividing into little groups and thinking the other groups are wrong, false teaching,

l'idolâtrie, la magie, les inimitiés, les querelles, les jalousies, les animosités, les disputes, les divisions, les sectes,

21 w anting something someone else has, killing other people, using strong drink, wild parties, and all things like these. I told you before and I am telling you again that those who do these things will have no place in the holy nation of God.

l'envie, l'ivrognerie, les excès de table, et les choses semblables. Je vous dis d'avance, comme je l'ai déjà dit, que ceux qui commettent de telles choses n'hériteront point le royaume de Dieu.

22 B ut the fruit that comes from having the Holy Spirit in our lives is: love, joy, peace, not giving up, being kind, being good, having faith,

Mais le fruit de l'Esprit, c'est l'amour, la joie, la paix, la patience, la bonté, la bénignité, la fidélité, la douceur, la tempérance;

23 b eing gentle, and being the boss over our own desires. The Law is not against these things.

la loi n'est pas contre ces choses.

24 T hose of us who belong to Christ have nailed our sinful old selves on His cross. Our sinful desires are now dead.

Ceux qui sont à Jésus Christ ont crucifié la chair avec ses passions et ses désirs.

25 I f the Holy Spirit is living in us, let us be led by Him in all things.

Si nous vivons par l'Esprit, marchons aussi selon l'Esprit.

26 L et us not become proud in ways in which we should not. We must not make hard feelings among ourselves as Christians or make anyone jealous.

Ne cherchons pas une vaine gloire, en nous provoquant les uns les autres, en nous portant envie les uns aux autres.
