1 T hen he brought me back to the door of the house. And I saw water flowing from under the doorway toward the east, for the house looked toward the east. The water was flowing from under the right side of the house, from south of the altar.

Quand il m'eut ramené, voici, il y avait sur le bord du torrent beaucoup d'arbres de chaque côté.

8 H e said to me, “These waters go out toward the east country and down into the Arabah, then flow into the Dead sea. When they flow into the sea, the waters there become clean again.

Il me dit: Cette eau coulera vers le district oriental, descendra dans la plaine, et entrera dans la mer; lorsqu'elle se sera jetée dans la mer, les eaux de la mer deviendront saines.

9 E very living thing that gathers where the river goes will live. There will be very many fish, because these waters go there and make the salt water clean. So everything will live where the river goes.

Tout être vivant qui se meut vivra partout où le torrent coulera, et il y aura une grande quantité de poissons; car là où cette eau arrivera, les eaux deviendront saines, et tout vivra partout où parviendra le torrent.

10 F ishermen will stand beside it. They will have places to spread their nets from Engedi to Eneglaim. The fish will be of many kinds, like the fish of the Great Sea.

Des pêcheurs se tiendront sur ses bords; depuis En Guédi jusqu'à En Églaïm, on étendra les filets; il y aura des poissons de diverses espèces, comme les poissons de la grande mer, et ils seront très nombreux.

11 B ut its wet places and pools will not be good for animal life. They will be left for salt.

Ses marais et ses fosses ne seront point assainis, ils seront abandonnés au sel.

12 A ll kinds of fruit trees will grow on both sides of the river. Their leaves will not dry up, and they will never stop giving fruit. They will give fruit every month because their water flows from the holy place. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.”

Sur le torrent, sur ses bords de chaque côté, croîtront toutes sortes d'arbres fruitiers. Leur feuillage ne se flétrira point, et leurs fruits n'auront point de fin, ils mûriront tous les mois, parce que les eaux sortiront du sanctuaire. Leurs fruits serviront de nourriture, et leurs feuilles de remède.

13 T he Lord God says, “This is how you should divide the land among the twelve family groups of Israel. Joseph will have two parts.

Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Voici les limites du pays que vous distribuerez en héritage aux douze tribus d'Israël. Joseph aura deux parts.

14 Y ou must divide the land so each family receives the same amount. For I promised to give this land to your fathers, and it will be your land to own.

Vous en aurez la possession l'un comme l'autre; car j'ai juré, la main levée, de le donner à vos pères. Ce pays vous tombera donc en partage.

15 “ This will be the side of the land: The north side will go from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon, and on to Zedad,

Voici les limites du pays. Du côté septentrional, depuis la grande mer, le chemin de Hethlon jusqu'à Tsedad,

16 H amath, Berothah, Sibraim (between the lands of Damascus and Hamath), and to Hazer-hatticon, by the land of Hauran.

18 T he east side of the land will go from between Hauran and Damascus along the Jordan between Gilead and the land of Israel, to the sea in the east. This will be the east side.

Le côté oriental sera le Jourdain, entre Havran, Damas et Galaad, et le pays d'Israël; vous mesurerez depuis la limite septentrionale jusqu'à la mer orientale: ce sera le côté oriental.

19 T he south side of the land will go from Tamar as far as the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then to the River of Egypt and to the Great Sea. This will be the south side.

Le côté méridional, au midi, ira depuis Thamar jusqu'aux eaux de Meriba à Kadès, jusqu'au torrent vers la grande mer: ce sera le côté méridional.

20 T he west side of the land will be the Great Sea, to a place beside Lebo-hamath. This will be the west side.

Le côté occidental sera la grande mer, depuis la limite jusque vis-à-vis de Hamath: ce sera le côté occidental.

21 “ So divide this land among your family groups of Israel.

Vous partagerez ce pays entre vous, selon les tribus d'Israël.

22 D ivide it by drawing names for yourselves and for the people from other lands who live with you and raise their children among you. You are to think of them as if they were born Israelites. They must be given a share of land with you among the families of Israel.

Vous le diviserez en héritage par le sort pour vous et pour les étrangers qui séjourneront au milieu de vous, qui engendreront des enfants au milieu de vous; vous les regarderez comme indigènes parmi les enfants d'Israël; ils partageront au sort l'héritage avec vous parmi les tribus d'Israël.

23 T he man from another country must be given a share of land among the family group he lives with,” says the Lord God.

Vous donnerez à l'étranger son héritage dans la tribu où il séjournera, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
