1 T his is what Isaiah the son of Amoz saw about Judah and Jerusalem that was coming:

Prophétie d'Ésaïe, fils d'Amots, sur Juda et Jérusalem.

2 I n the last days, the mountain of the house of the Lord will be the most important of the mountains. It will be raised above the hills. All the nations will come to it.

Il arrivera, dans la suite des temps, Que la montagne de la maison de l'Éternel Sera fondée sur le sommet des montagnes, Qu'elle s'élèvera par-dessus les collines, Et que toutes les nations y afflueront.

3 M any people will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. Then He will teach us about His ways, that we may walk in His paths. For the Law will go out from Zion, and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.”

Des peuples s'y rendront en foule, et diront: Venez, et montons à la montagne de l'Éternel, A la maison du Dieu de Jacob, Afin qu'il nous enseigne ses voies, Et que nous marchions dans ses sentiers. Car de Sion sortira la loi, Et de Jérusalem la parole de l'Éternel.

4 H e will judge between the nations, and will decide for many people. And they will beat their swords into plows, and their spears into knives for cutting vines. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, and they will not learn about war anymore. The Day of the Lord

Il sera le juge des nations, L'arbitre d'un grand nombre de peuples. De leurs glaives ils forgeront des hoyaux, Et de leurs lances des serpes: Une nation ne tirera plus l'épée contre une autre, Et l'on n'apprendra plus la guerre.

5 C ome, people of Jacob. Let us walk in the light of the Lord.

Maison de Jacob, Venez, et marchons à la lumière de l'Éternel!

6 F or You have left Your people, the family of Jacob, because they are filled with the sinful ways of the East. They use secret ways to tell the future like the Philistines. And they make agreements with the children of strangers.

Car tu as abandonné ton peuple, la maison de Jacob, Parce qu'ils sont pleins de l'Orient, Et adonnés à la magie comme les Philistins, Et parce qu'ils s'allient aux fils des étrangers. Le pays est rempli d'argent et d'or,

7 T heir land is filled with silver and gold. There is no end to their riches. Their land is filled with horses also. And there is no end to their war-wagons.

Et il y a des trésors sans fin; Le pays est rempli de chevaux, Et il y a des chars sans nombre.

8 T heir land is filled with false gods. They worship the work of their hands, that which their fingers have made.

Le pays est rempli d'idoles; Ils se prosternent devant l'ouvrage de leurs mains, Devant ce que leurs doigts ont fabriqué.

9 S o pride has been taken away from the poor man, and important men have been put to shame. Do not forgive them.

Les petits seront abattus, et les grands seront abaissés: Tu ne leur pardonneras point.

10 G o into the rock and hide in the dust from the anger of the Lord and from the shining-greatness of His power.

Entre dans les rochers, Et cache-toi dans la poussière, Pour éviter la terreur de l'Éternel Et l'éclat de sa majesté.

11 T he proud look of man will be put to shame. The pride of men will be taken away. And the Lord alone will be honored in that day.

L'homme au regard hautain sera abaissé, Et l'orgueilleux sera humilié: L'Éternel seul sera élevé ce jour-là.

12 O n that day the Lord of All will be against everyone who is proud and feels important, and against all who are honored. They will be put to shame.

Car il y a un jour pour l'Éternel des armées Contre tout homme orgueilleux et hautain, Contre quiconque s'élève, afin qu'il soit abaissé;

13 H e will be against all the cedar trees of Lebanon that are tall and honored, and against all the oak trees of Bashan.

Contre tous les cèdres du Liban, hauts et élevés, Et contre tous les chênes de Basan;

14 H e will be against all the high mountains, against all the high hills,

Contre toutes les hautes montagnes, Et contre toutes les collines élevées;

15 a gainst every high tower, and against every strong wall.

Contre toutes les hautes tours, Et contre toutes les murailles fortifiées;

16 H e will be against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful boats.

Contre tous les navires de Tarsis, Et contre tout ce qui plaît à la vue.

17 T he pride of man will be taken away. What men honor will be put to shame. The Lord alone will be honored in that day.

L'homme orgueilleux sera humilié, Et le hautain sera abaissé: L'Éternel seul sera élevé ce jour-là.

18 A ll the false gods will be gone.

Toutes les idoles disparaîtront.

19 M en will go into the caves of the rocks and into holes of the earth because of the anger of the Lord and the shining-greatness of His power when He rises up to shake the earth.

On entrera dans les cavernes des rochers Et dans les profondeurs de la poussière, Pour éviter la terreur de l'Éternel et l'éclat de sa majesté, Quand il se lèvera pour effrayer la terre.

20 I n that day men will take their false gods of silver and gold which they made for themselves to worship and will throw them away to the moles and the bats.

En ce jour, les hommes jetteront Leurs idoles d'argent et leurs idoles d'or, Qu'ils s'étaient faites pour les adorer, Aux rats et aux chauves-souris;

21 T hey will go into the caves of the rocks and mountains. They will try to hide from the anger of the Lord and from the shining-greatness of His power, when He rises up to shake the earth.

Et ils entreront dans les fentes des rochers Et dans les creux des pierres, Pour éviter la terreur de l'Éternel et l'éclat de sa majesté, Quand il se lèvera pour effrayer la terre.

22 S top trusting in man. He has only a breath in his nose. Why should he be honored?

Cessez de vous confier en l'homme, Dans les narines duquel il n'y a qu'un souffle: Car de quelle valeur est-il?
