1 “ Be sure you do not do good things in front of others just to be seen by them. If you do, you have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Gardez-vous de pratiquer votre justice devant les hommes, pour en être vus; autrement, vous n'aurez point de récompense auprès de votre Père qui est dans les cieux.

2 W hen you give to the poor, do not be as those who pretend to be someone they are not. They blow a horn in the places of worship and in the streets so people may respect them. For sure, I tell you, they have all the reward they are going to get.

Lors donc que tu fais l'aumône, ne sonne pas de la trompette devant toi, comme font les hypocrites dans les synagogues et dans les rues, afin d'être glorifiés par les hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.

3 W hen you give, do not let your left hand know what your right hand gives.

Mais quand tu fais l'aumône, que ta main gauche ne sache pas ce que fait ta droite,

4 Y our giving should be in secret. Then your Father Who sees in secret will reward you. Jesus Teaches about Prayer

afin que ton aumône se fasse en secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.

Lorsque vous priez, ne soyez pas comme les hypocrites, qui aiment à prier debout dans les synagogues et aux coins des rues, pour être vus des hommes. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.

6 W hen you pray, go into a room by yourself. After you have shut the door, pray to your Father Who is in secret. Then your Father Who sees in secret will reward you.

Mais quand tu pries, entre dans ta chambre, ferme ta porte, et prie ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.

7 W hen you pray, do not say the same thing over and over again making long prayers like the people who do not know God. They think they are heard because their prayers are long.

En priant, ne multipliez pas de vaines paroles, comme les païens, qui s'imaginent qu'à force de paroles ils seront exaucés.

8 D o not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Ne leur ressemblez pas; car votre Père sait de quoi vous avez besoin, avant que vous le lui demandiez.

9 “ Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, Your name is holy.

Voici donc comment vous devez prier: Notre Père qui es aux cieux! Que ton nom soit sanctifié;

10 M ay Your holy nation come. What You want done, may it be done on earth as it is in heaven.

que ton règne vienne; que ta volonté soit faite sur la terre comme au ciel.

11 G ive us the bread we need today.

Donne-nous aujourd'hui notre pain quotidien;

12 F orgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.

pardonne-nous nos offenses, comme nous aussi nous pardonnons à ceux qui nous ont offensés;

13 ‘ Do not let us be tempted, but keep us from sin. Your nation is holy. You have power and shining-greatness forever. Let it be so.’ Jesus Teaches about Forgiveness

ne nous induis pas en tentation, mais délivre-nous du malin. Car c'est à toi qu'appartiennent, dans tous les siècles, le règne, la puissance et la gloire. Amen!

14 “ If you forgive people their sins, your Father in heaven will forgive your sins also.

Si vous pardonnez aux hommes leurs offenses, votre Père céleste vous pardonnera aussi;

15 I f you do not forgive people their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Jesus Teaches about Not Eating So You Can Pray Better

mais si vous ne pardonnez pas aux hommes, votre Père ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos offenses.

16 “ When you go without food so you can pray better, do not be as those who pretend to be someone they are not. They make themselves look sad so people will see they are going with out food. For sure, I tell you, they have all the reward they are going to get.

Lorsque vous jeûnez, ne prenez pas un air triste, comme les hypocrites, qui se rendent le visage tout défait, pour montrer aux hommes qu'ils jeûnent. Je vous le dis en vérité, ils reçoivent leur récompense.

17 W hen you go without food so you can pray better, put oil on your head and wash your face.

Mais quand tu jeûnes, parfume ta tête et lave ton visage,

18 T hen nobody knows you are going without food. Then your Father Who sees in secret will reward you. Jesus Teaches about Having Riches

afin de ne pas montrer aux hommes que tu jeûnes, mais à ton Père qui est là dans le lieu secret; et ton Père, qui voit dans le secret, te le rendra.

19 “ Do not gather together for yourself riches of this earth. They will be eaten by bugs and become rusted. Men can break in and steal them.

Ne vous amassez pas des trésors sur la terre, où la teigne et la rouille détruisent, et où les voleurs percent et dérobent;

20 G ather together riches in heaven where they will not be eaten by bugs or become rusted. Men cannot break in and steal them.

mais amassez-vous des trésors dans le ciel, où la teigne et la rouille ne détruisent point, et où les voleurs ne percent ni ne dérobent.

21 F or wherever your riches are, your heart will be there also.

Car là où est ton trésor, là aussi sera ton coeur.

22 T he eye is the light of the body. If your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

L'oeil est la lampe du corps. Si ton oeil est en bon état, tout ton corps sera éclairé;

23 I f your eye is bad, your whole body will be dark. If the light in you is dark, how dark it will be!

mais si ton oeil est en mauvais état, tout ton corps sera dans les ténèbres. Si donc la lumière qui est en toi est ténèbres, combien seront grandes ces ténèbres!

24 N o one can have two bosses. He will hate the one and love the other. Or he will listen to the one and work against the other. You cannot have both God and riches as your boss at the same time. Jesus Teaches about Cares of Life

Nul ne peut servir deux maîtres. Car, ou il haïra l'un, et aimera l'autre; ou il s'attachera à l'un, et méprisera l'autre. Vous ne pouvez servir Dieu et Mamon.

25 “ I tell you this: Do not worry about your life. Do not worry about what you are going to eat and drink. Do not worry about what you are going to wear. Is not life more important than food? Is not the body more important than clothes?

C'est pourquoi je vous dis: Ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie de ce que vous mangerez, ni pour votre corps, de quoi vous serez vêtus. La vie n'est-elle pas plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement?

26 L ook at the birds in the sky. They do not plant seeds. They do not gather grain. They do not put grain into a building to keep. Yet your Father in heaven feeds them! Are you not more important than the birds?

Regardez les oiseaux du ciel: ils ne sèment ni ne moissonnent, et ils n'amassent rien dans des greniers; et votre Père céleste les nourrit. Ne valez-vous pas beaucoup plus qu'eux?

27 W hich of you can make himself a little taller by worrying?

Qui de vous, par ses inquiétudes, peut ajouter une coudée à la durée de sa vie?

28 W hy should you worry about clothes? Think how the flowers grow. They do not work or make cloth.

Et pourquoi vous inquiéter au sujet du vêtement? Considérez comment croissent les lis des champs: ils ne travaillent ni ne filent;

29 B ut I tell you that Solomon in all his greatness was not dressed as well as one of these flowers.

cependant je vous dis que Salomon même, dans toute sa gloire, n'a pas été vêtu comme l'un d'eux.

30 G od clothes the grass of the field. It lives today and is burned in the stove tomorrow. How much more will He give you clothes? You have so little faith!

Si Dieu revêt ainsi l'herbe des champs, qui existe aujourd'hui et qui demain sera jetée au four, ne vous vêtira-t-il pas à plus forte raison, gens de peu de foi?

31 D o not worry. Do not keep saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘What will we wear?’

Ne vous inquiétez donc point, et ne dites pas: Que mangerons-nous? que boirons-nous? de quoi serons-nous vêtus?

32 T he people who do not know God are looking for all these things. Your Father in heaven knows you need all these things.

Car toutes ces choses, ce sont les païens qui les recherchent. Votre Père céleste sait que vous en avez besoin.

33 F irst of all, look for the holy nation of God. Be right with Him. All these other things will be given to you also.

Cherchez premièrement le royaume et la justice de Dieu; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus.

34 D o not worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own worries. The troubles we have in a day are enough for one day.

Ne vous inquiétez donc pas du lendemain; car le lendemain aura soin de lui-même. A chaque jour suffit sa peine.
