1 А первосвященики з старшими й книжниками, та ввесь синедріон, зараз уранці, нараду вчинивши, зв'язали Ісуса, повели та й Пилатові видали.

Immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.

2 А Пилат запитався Його: Чи Ти Цар Юдейський? А Він йому в відповідь каже: Сам ти кажеш...

Then Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered and said to him, “ It is as you say.”

3 А первосвященики міцно Його винуватили.

And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing.

4 Т оді Пилат знову Його запитав і сказав: Ти нічого не відповідаєш? Дивись, як багато проти Тебе свідкують!

Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, “Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!”

5 А Ісус більш нічого не відповідав, так що Пилат дивувався.

But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled. Taking the Place of Barabbas

6 Н а свято ж він їм відпускав був одного із в'язнів, котрого просили вони.

Now at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested.

7 Б ув же один, що звався Варавва, ув'язнений разом із повстанцями, які за повстання вчинили були душогубство.

And there was one named Barabbas, who was chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion.

8 К оли ж натовп зібрався, він став просити Пилата зробити, як він завжди робив їм.

Then the multitude, crying aloud, began to ask him to do just as he had always done for them.

9 П илат же сказав їм у відповідь: Хочете, відпущу вам Царя Юдейського?

But Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?”

10 Б о він знав, що Його через заздрощі видали первосвященики.

For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.

11 А первосвященики натовп підмовили, щоб краще пустив їм Варавву.

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them.

12 П илат же промовив ізнов їм у відповідь: А що ж я чинитиму з Тим, що Його ви Юдейським Царем називаєте?

Pilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with Him whom you call the King of the Jews?”

13 В они ж стали кричати знов: Розіпни Його!

So they cried out again, “Crucify Him!”

14 П илат же сказав їм: Яке ж зло вчинив Він? А вони ще сильніше кричали: Розіпни Його!...

Then Pilate said to them, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, “Crucify Him!”

15 П илат же хотів догодити народові, і відпустив їм Варавву. І видав Ісуса, збичувавши, щоб розп'ятий був.

So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified. The Soldiers Mock Jesus

16 В ояки ж повели Його до середини двору, цебто в преторій, і цілий відділ скликають.

Then the soldiers led Him away into the hall called Praetorium, and they called together the whole garrison.

17 І вони зодягли Його в багряницю і, сплівши з тернини вінка, поклали на Нього.

And they clothed Him with purple; and they twisted a crown of thorns, put it on His head,

18 І вітати Його зачали: Радій, Царю Юдейський!

and began to salute Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”

19 І тростиною по голові Його били, і плювали на Нього. І навколішки кидалися та вклонялись Йому...

Then they struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped Him.

20 І коли назнущалися з Нього, зняли з Нього багряницю, і наділи на Нього одежу Його. І Його повели, щоб розп'ясти Його.

And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him. The King on a Cross

21 І одного перехожого, що з поля вертався, Симона Кірінеянина, батька Олександра та Руфа, змусили, щоб хреста Йому ніс.

Then they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to bear His cross.

22 І Його привели на місце Голгофу, що значить Череповище.

And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.

23 І давали Йому пити вина, із миррою змішаного, але Він не прийняв.

Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it.

24 І Його розп'яли, і поділили одежу Його, кинувши жереб про неї, хто що візьме.

And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.

25 Б ула ж третя година, як Його розп'яли.

Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.

26 І був написаний напис провини Його: Цар Юдейський.

And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS.

27 Т оді розп'ято з Ним двох розбійників, одного праворуч, і одного ліворуч Його.

With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left.

28 І збулося Писання, що каже: До злочинців Його зараховано!

So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And He was numbered with the transgressors.”

29 А хто побіч проходив, то Його лихословили, головами своїми хитали й казали: Отак! Ти, що храма руйнуєш та за три дні будуєш,

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! You who destroy the temple and build it in three days,

30 з ійди із хреста, та спаси Самого Себе!

save Yourself, and come down from the cross!”

31 Т еж і первосвященики з книжниками глузували й один до одного казали: Він інших спасав, а Самого Себе не може спасти!

Likewise the chief priests also, mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, “He saved others; Himself He cannot save.

32 Х ристос, Цар Ізраїлів, нехай зійде тепер із хреста, щоб побачили ми та й увірували. Навіть ті, що разом із Ним були розп'яті, насміхалися з Нього...

Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.” Even those who were crucified with Him reviled Him. Jesus Dies on the Cross

33 А як шоста година настала, то аж до години дев'ятої темрява стала по цілій землі.

Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

34 О годині ж дев'ятій Ісус скрикнув голосом гучним та й вимовив: Елої, Елої, лама савахтані, що в перекладі значить: Боже Мій, Боже Мій, нащо Мене Ти покинув?

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

35 Д ехто ж із тих, що стояли навколо, це почули й казали: Ось Він кличе Іллю!

Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!”

36 А один із них побіг, намочив губку оцтом, настромив на тростину, і давав Йому пити й казав: Чекайте, побачим, чи прийде Ілля Його зняти!

Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”

37 А Ісус скрикнув голосом гучним, і духа віддав!...

And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.

38 І в храмі завіса роздерлась надвоє, від верху аж додолу.

Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

39 А сотник, що насупроти Нього стояв, як побачив, що Він отак духа віддав, то промовив: Чоловік Цей був справді Син Божий!

So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”

40 Б ули ж і жінки, що дивились здалека, між ними Марія Магдалина, і Марія, мати Якова Молодшого та Йосії, і Саломія,

There were also women looking on from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome,

41 щ о вони, як Він був у Галілеї, ходили за Ним та Йому прислуговували; і інших багато, що до Єрусалиму прийшли з Ним.

who also followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem. Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb

42 А коли настав вечір, через те, що було Приготовлення, цебто перед суботою,

Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

43 п рийшов Йосип із Ариматеї, радник поважний, що сам сподівавсь Царства Божого, і сміливо ввійшов до Пилата, і просив тіла Ісусового.

Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

44 А Пилат здивувався, щоб Він міг уже вмерти. І, покликавши сотника, запитався його, чи давно вже Розп'ятий помер.

Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.

45 І , дізнавшись від сотника, він подарував тіло Йосипові.

So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.

46 А Йосип купив плащаницю, і, знявши Його, обгорнув плащаницею, та й поклав Його в гробі, що в скелі був висічений. І каменя привалив до могильних дверей.

Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.

47 М арія ж Магдалина й Марія, мати Йосієва, дивилися, де ховали Його.

And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.
