1 J esus lhes falou novamente por parábolas, dizendo:

And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said:

2 “ O Reino dos céus é como um rei que preparou um banquete de casamento para seu filho.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son,

3 E nviou seus servos aos que tinham sido convidados para o banquete, dizendo-lhes que viessem; mas eles não quiseram vir.

and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come.

4 “ De novo enviou outros servos e disse: ‘Digam aos que foram convidados que preparei meu banquete: meus bois e meus novilhos gordos foram abatidos, e tudo está preparado. Venham para o banquete de casamento!’

Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.”’

5 “ Mas eles não lhes deram atenção e saíram, um para o seu campo, outro para os seus negócios.

But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business.

6 O s restantes, agarrando os servos, maltrataram-nos e os mataram.

And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them.

7 O rei ficou irado e, enviando o seu exército, destruiu aqueles assassinos e queimou a cidade deles.

But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

8 “ Então disse a seus servos: ‘O banquete de casamento está pronto, mas os meus convidados não eram dignos.

Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.

9 V ão às esquinas e convidem para o banquete todos os que vocês encontrarem’.

Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’

10 E ntão os servos saíram para as ruas e reuniram todas as pessoas que puderam encontrar, gente boa e gente má, e a sala do banquete de casamento ficou cheia de convidados.

So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.

11 “ Mas quando o rei entrou para ver os convidados, notou ali um homem que não estava usando veste nupcial.

“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment.

12 E lhe perguntou: ‘Amigo, como você entrou aqui sem veste nupcial?’ O homem emudeceu.

So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

13 “ Então o rei disse aos que serviam: ‘Amarrem-lhe as mãos e os pés, e lancem-no para fora, nas trevas; ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes’.

Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

14 “ Pois muitos são chamados, mas poucos são escolhidos”. O Pagamento de Imposto a César

“For many are called, but few are chosen.” The Pharisees: Is It Lawful to Pay Taxes to Caesar?

15 E ntão os fariseus saíram e começaram a planejar um meio de enredá-lo em suas próprias palavras.

Then the Pharisees went and plotted how they might entangle Him in His talk.

16 E nviaram-lhe seus discípulos junto com os herodianos, que lhe disseram: “Mestre, sabemos que és íntegro e que ensinas o caminho de Deus conforme a verdade. Tu não te deixas influenciar por ninguém, porque não te prendes à aparência dos homens.

And they sent to Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth; nor do You care about anyone, for You do not regard the person of men.

17 D ize-nos, pois: Qual é a tua opinião? É certo pagar imposto a César ou não?”

Tell us, therefore, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

18 M as Jesus, percebendo a má intenção deles, perguntou: “Hipócritas! Por que vocês estão me pondo à prova?

But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?

19 M ostrem-me a moeda usada para pagar o imposto”. Eles lhe mostraram um denário,

Show Me the tax money.” So they brought Him a denarius.

20 e ele lhes perguntou: “De quem é esta imagem e esta inscrição?”

And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?”

21 “ De César”, responderam eles. E ele lhes disse: “Então, dêem a César o que é de César e a Deus o que é de Deus”.

They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

22 A o ouvirem isso, eles ficaram admirados; e, deixando-o, retiraram-se. A Realidade da Ressurreição

When they had heard these words, they marveled, and left Him and went their way. The Sadducees: What About the Resurrection?

23 N aquele mesmo dia, os saduceus, que dizem que não há ressurreição, aproximaram-se dele com a seguinte questão:

The same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,

24 “ Mestre, Moisés disse que se um homem morrer sem deixar filhos, seu irmão deverá casar-se com a viúva e dar-lhe descendência.

saying: “Teacher, Moses said that if a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.

25 E ntre nós havia sete irmãos. O primeiro casou-se e morreu. Como não teve filhos, deixou a mulher para seu irmão.

Now there were with us seven brothers. The first died after he had married, and having no offspring, left his wife to his brother.

26 A mesma coisa aconteceu com o segundo, com o terceiro, até o sétimo.

Likewise the second also, and the third, even to the seventh.

27 F inalmente, depois de todos, morreu a mulher.

Last of all the woman died also.

28 P ois bem, na ressurreição, de qual dos sete ela será esposa, visto que todos foram casados com ela?”

Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had her.”

29 J esus respondeu: “Vocês estão enganados porque não conhecem as Escrituras nem o poder de Deus!

Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.

30 N a ressurreição, as pessoas não se casam nem são dadas em casamento; mas são como os anjos no céu.

For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.

31 E quanto à ressurreição dos mortos, vocês não leram o que Deus lhes disse:

But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying,

32 ‘ Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque e o Deus de Jacó’ ? Ele não é Deus de mortos, mas de vivos!”

‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

33 O uvindo isso, a multidão ficou admirada com o seu ensino. O Maior Mandamento

And when the multitudes heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?

34 A o ouvirem dizer que Jesus havia deixado os saduceus sem resposta, os fariseus se reuniram.

But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together.

35 U m deles, perito na lei, o pôs à prova com esta pergunta:

Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying,

36 “ Mestre, qual é o maior mandamento da Lei?”

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”

37 R espondeu Jesus: “‘Ame o Senhor, o seu Deus de todo o seu coração, de toda a sua alma e de todo o seu entendimento’.

Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

38 E ste é o primeiro e maior mandamento.

This is the first and great commandment.

39 E o segundo é semelhante a ele: ‘Ame o seu próximo como a si mesmo’.

And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

40 D estes dois mandamentos dependem toda a Lei e os Profetas”. O Cristo é Senhor de Davi

On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord?

41 E stando os fariseus reunidos, Jesus lhes perguntou:

While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

42 “ O que vocês pensam a respeito do Cristo? De quem ele é filho?” “É filho de Davi”, responderam eles.

saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “ The Son of David.”

43 E le lhes disse: “Então, como é que Davi, falando pelo Espírito, o chama ‘Senhor’? Pois ele afirma:

He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying:

44 “ ‘O Senhor disse ao meu Senhor: Senta-te à minha direita, até que eu ponha os teus inimigos debaixo de teus pés ’.

‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”’?

45 S e, pois, Davi o chama ‘Senhor’, como pode ser ele seu filho?”

If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his Son?”

46 N inguém conseguia responder-lhe uma palavra; e daquele dia em diante, ninguém jamais se atreveu a lhe fazer perguntas.

And no one was able to answer Him a word, nor from that day on did anyone dare question Him anymore.
