1 O Senhor falou a Moisés na Tenda do Encontro, no deserto do Sinai, no primeiro dia do segundo mês do segundo ano, depois que os israelitas saíram do Egito. Ele disse:

Now the Lord spoke to Moses in the Wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of meeting, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they had come out of the land of Egypt, saying:

2 “ Façam um recenseamento de toda a comunidade de Israel, pelos seus clãs e famílias, alistando todos os homens, um a um, pelo nome.

“Take a census of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by their families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, every male individually,

3 V ocê e Arão contarão todos os homens que possam servir no exército, de vinte anos para cima, organizados segundo as suas divisões.

from twenty years old and above—all who are able to go to war in Israel. You and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

4 U m homem de cada tribo, o chefe dos grupos de famílias, deverá ajudá-los.

And with you there shall be a man from every tribe, each one the head of his father’s house.

5 E stes são os nomes dos homens que os ajudarão: de Rúben, Elizur, filho de Sedeur;

“These are the names of the men who shall stand with you: from Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;

6 d e Simeão, Selumiel, filho de Zurisadai;

from Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;

7 d e Judá, Naassom, filho de Aminadabe;

from Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;

8 d e Issacar, Natanael, filho de Zuar;

from Issachar, Nethanel the son of Zuar;

9 d e Zebulom, Eliabe, filho de Helom;

from Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon;

10 d os filhos de José: de Efraim, Elisama, filho de Amiúde; de Manassés, Gamaliel, filho de Pedazur;

from the sons of Joseph: from Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; from Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur;

11 d e Benjamim, Abidã, filho de Gideoni;

from Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni;

12 d e Dã, Aieser, filho de Amisadai;

from Dan, Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai;

13 d e Aser, Pagiel, filho de Ocrã;

from Asher, Pagiel the son of Ocran;

14 d e Gade, Eliasafe, filho de Deuel;

from Gad, Eliasaph the son of Deuel;

15 d e Naftali, Aira, filho de Enã”.

from Naphtali, Ahira the son of Enan.”

16 F oram esses os escolhidos dentre a comunidade, líderes das tribos dos seus antepassados, chefes dos clãs de Israel.

These were chosen from the congregation, leaders of their fathers’ tribes, heads of the divisions in Israel.

17 M oisés e Arão reuniram os homens nomeados

Then Moses and Aaron took these men who had been mentioned by name,

18 e convocaram toda a comunidade no primeiro dia do segundo mês. Os homens de vinte anos para cima inscreveram-se conforme os seus clãs e as suas famílias, um a um, pelo nome,

and they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month; and they recited their ancestry by families, by their fathers’ houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, each one individually.

19 c onforme o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés. E assim ele os contou no deserto do Sinai, na seguinte ordem:

As the Lord commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the Wilderness of Sinai.

20 D os descendentes de Rúben, o filho mais velho de Israel: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

Now the children of Reuben, Israel’s oldest son, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

21 O número dos da tribo de Rúben foi 46. 500.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Reuben were forty-six thousand five hundred.

22 D os descendentes de Simeão: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Simeon, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, of those who were numbered, according to the number of names, every male individually, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

23 O número dos da tribo de Simeão foi 59. 300.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Simeon were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 D os descendentes de Gade: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Gad, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

25 O número dos da tribo de Gade foi 45. 650.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Gad were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.

26 D os descendentes de Judá: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Judah, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

27 O número dos da tribo de Judá foi 74. 600.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Judah were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

28 D os descendentes de Issacar: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Issachar, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

those who were numbered of the tribe of Issachar were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 D os descendentes de Zebulom: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Benjamin, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

38 D os descendentes de Dã: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Dan, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

39 O número dos da tribo de Dã foi 62. 700.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Dan were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 D os descendentes de Aser: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Asher, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

41 O número dos da tribo de Aser foi 41. 500.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Asher were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 D os descendentes de Naftali: Todos os homens de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram relacionados, cada um pelo seu nome, de acordo com os registros de seus clãs e famílias.

From the children of Naphtali, their genealogies by their families, by their fathers’ house, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war:

43 O número dos da tribo de Naftali foi 53. 400.

those who were numbered of the tribe of Naphtali were fifty-three thousand four hundred.

44 E sses foram os homens contados por Moisés e por Arão e pelos doze líderes de Israel, cada um representando a sua família.

These are the ones who were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, with the leaders of Israel, twelve men, each one representing his father’s house.

45 T odos os israelitas de vinte anos para cima que podiam servir no exército foram contados de acordo com as suas famílias.

So all who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war in Israel—

46 O total foi 603. 550 homens. A Função dos Levitas

all who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.

47 A s famílias da tribo de Levi, porém, não foram contadas juntamente com as outras,

But the Levites were not numbered among them by their fathers’ tribe;

48 p ois o Senhor tinha dito a Moisés:

for the Lord had spoken to Moses, saying:

49 “ Não faça o recenseamento da tribo de Levi nem a relacione entre os demais israelitas.

“Only the tribe of Levi you shall not number, nor take a census of them among the children of Israel;

50 E m vez disso, designe os levitas como responsáveis pelo tabernáculo que guarda as tábuas da aliança, por todos os seus utensílios e por tudo o que pertence a ele. Eles transportarão o tabernáculo e todos os seus utensílios; cuidarão dele e acamparão ao seu redor.

but you shall appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of the Testimony, over all its furnishings, and over all things that belong to it; they shall carry the tabernacle and all its furnishings; they shall attend to it and camp around the tabernacle.

51 S empre que o tabernáculo tiver que ser removido, os levitas o desmontarão e, sempre que tiver que ser armado, os levitas o farão. Qualquer pessoa não autorizada que se aproximar do tabernáculo terá que ser executada.

And when the tabernacle is to go forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle is to be set up, the Levites shall set it up. The outsider who comes near shall be put to death.

52 O s israelitas armarão as suas tendas organizadas segundo as suas divisões, cada um em seu próprio acampamento e junto à sua bandeira.

The children of Israel shall pitch their tents, everyone by his own camp, everyone by his own standard, according to their armies;

53 O s levitas, porém, armarão as suas tendas ao redor do tabernáculo que guarda as tábuas da aliança, para que a ira divina não caia sobre a comunidade de Israel. Os levitas terão a responsabilidade de cuidar do tabernáculo que guarda as tábuas da aliança”.

but the Levites shall camp around the tabernacle of the Testimony, that there may be no wrath on the congregation of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall keep charge of the tabernacle of the Testimony.”

54 O s israelitas fizeram tudo exatamente como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés.

Thus the children of Israel did; according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so they did.
