1 C omo é feliz aquele que se interessa pelo pobre! O Senhor o livra em tempos de adversidade.

Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

2 O Senhor o protegerá e preservará a sua vida; ele o fará feliz na terra e não o entregará ao desejo dos seus inimigos.

The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies.

3 O Senhor o susterá em seu leito de enfermidade, e da doença o restaurará.

The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.

4 E u disse: Misericórdia, Senhor, cura-me, pois pequei contra ti.

I said, “ Lord, be merciful to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You.”

5 O s meus inimigos dizem maldosamente a meu respeito: “Quando ele vai morrer? Quando vai desaparecer o seu nome?”

My enemies speak evil of me: “When will he die, and his name perish?”

6 S empre que alguém vem visitar-me, fala com falsidade, enche o coração de calúnias e depois as espalha por onde vai.

And if he comes to see me, he speaks lies; His heart gathers iniquity to itself; When he goes out, he tells it.

7 T odos os que me odeiam juntam-se e cochicham contra mim, imaginando que o pior me acontecerá:

All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt.

8 “ Uma praga terrível o derrubou; está de cama, e jamais se levantará”.

“An evil disease,” they say, “clings to him. And now that he lies down, he will rise up no more.”

9 A té o meu melhor amigo, em quem eu confiava e que partilhava do meu pão, voltou-se contra mim.

Even my own familiar friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.

10 M as, tu, Senhor, tem misericórdia de mim; levanta-me, para que eu lhes retribua.

But You, O Lord, be merciful to me, and raise me up, That I may repay them.

11 S ei que me queres bem, pois o meu inimigo não triunfa sobre mim.

By this I know that You are well pleased with me, Because my enemy does not triumph over me.

12 P or causa da minha integridade me susténs e me pões na tua presença para sempre.

As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever.

13 L ouvado seja o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, de eternidade a eternidade! Amém e amém!
