1 E ntão Jesus contou aos seus discípulos uma parábola, para mostrar-lhes que eles deviam orar sempre e nunca desanimar.

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,

2 E le disse: “Em certa cidade havia um juiz que não temia a Deus nem se importava com os homens.

saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.

3 E havia naquela cidade uma viúva que se dirigia continuamente a ele, suplicando-lhe: ‘Faze-me justiça contra o meu adversário’.

Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’

4 “ Por algum tempo ele se recusou. Mas finalmente disse a si mesmo: ‘Embora eu não tema a Deus e nem me importe com os homens,

And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,

5 e sta viúva está me aborrecendo; vou fazer-lhe justiça para que ela não venha mais me importunar’”.

yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”

6 E o Senhor continuou: “Ouçam o que diz o juiz injusto.

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said.

7 A caso Deus não fará justiça aos seus escolhidos, que clamam a ele dia e noite? Continuará fazendo-os esperar?

And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?

8 E u lhes digo: Ele lhes fará justiça, e depressa. Contudo, quando o Filho do homem vier, encontrará fé na terra?” A Parábola do Fariseu e do Publicano

I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector

9 A alguns que confiavam em sua própria justiça e desprezavam os outros, Jesus contou esta parábola:

Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

10 “ Dois homens subiram ao templo para orar; um era fariseu e o outro, publicano.

“Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

11 O fariseu, em pé, orava no íntimo: ‘Deus, eu te agradeço porque não sou como os outros homens: ladrões, corruptos, adúlteros; nem mesmo como este publicano.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector.

12 J ejuo duas vezes por semana e dou o dízimo de tudo quanto ganho’.

I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’

13 “ Mas o publicano ficou à distância. Ele nem ousava olhar para o céu, mas batendo no peito, dizia: ‘Deus, tem misericórdia de mim, que sou pecador’.

And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’

14 “ Eu lhes digo que este homem, e não o outro, foi para casa justificado diante de Deus. Pois quem se exalta será humilhado, e quem se humilha será exaltado”. Jesus e as Crianças

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” Jesus Blesses Little Children

15 O povo também estava trazendo criancinhas para que Jesus tocasse nelas. Ao verem isso, os discípulos repreendiam aqueles que as tinham trazido.

Then they also brought infants to Him that He might touch them; but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

16 M as Jesus chamou a si as crianças e disse: “Deixem vir a mim as crianças e não as impeçam; pois o Reino de Deus pertence aos que são semelhantes a elas.

But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

17 D igo-lhes a verdade: Quem não receber o Reino de Deus como uma criança, nunca entrará nele”. Jesus e o Homem Rico

Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

18 C erto homem importante lhe perguntou: “Bom Mestre, que farei para herdar a vida eterna?”

Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

19 “ Por que você me chama bom?”, respondeu Jesus. “Não há ninguém que seja bom, a não ser somente Deus.

So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.

20 V ocê conhece os mandamentos: ‘Não adulterarás, não matarás, não furtarás, não darás falso testemunho, honra teu pai e tua mãe’.”

You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’ ”

21 “ A tudo isso tenho obedecido desde a adolescência”, disse ele.

And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.”

22 A o ouvir isso, disse-lhe Jesus: “Falta-lhe ainda uma coisa. Venda tudo o que você possui e dê o dinheiro aos pobres, e você terá um tesouro nos céus. Depois venha e siga-me”.

So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

23 O uvindo isso, ele ficou triste, porque era muito rico.

But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. With God All Things Are Possible

24 V endo-o entristecido, Jesus disse: “Como é difícil aos ricos entrar no Reino de Deus!

And when Jesus saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!

25 D e fato, é mais fácil passar um camelo pelo fundo de uma agulha do que um rico entrar no Reino de Deus”.

For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

26 O s que ouviram isso perguntaram: “Então, quem pode ser salvo?”

And those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?”

27 J esus respondeu: “O que é impossível para os homens é possível para Deus”.

But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

28 P edro lhe disse: “Nós deixamos tudo o que tínhamos para seguir-te!”

Then Peter said, “See, we have left all and followed You.”

29 R espondeu Jesus: “Digo-lhes a verdade: Ninguém que tenha deixado casa, mulher, irmãos, pai ou filhos por causa do Reino de Deus

So He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,

30 d eixará de receber, na presente era, muitas vezes mais, e, na era futura, a vida eterna”. Jesus Prediz Novamente sua Morte e Ressurreição

who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.” Jesus a Third Time Predicts His Death and Resurrection

31 J esus chamou à parte os Doze e lhes disse: “Estamos subindo para Jerusalém, e tudo o que está escrito pelos profetas acerca do Filho do homem se cumprirá.

Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished.

32 E le será entregue aos gentios que zombarão dele, o insultarão, cuspirão nele, o açoitarão e o matarão.

For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon.

33 N o terceiro dia ele ressuscitará”.

They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.”

34 O s discípulos não entenderam nada dessas coisas. O significado dessas palavras lhes estava oculto, e eles não sabiam do que ele estava falando. Um Mendigo Cego Recupera a Visão

But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken. A Blind Man Receives His Sight

35 A o aproximar-se Jesus de Jericó, um homem cego estava sentado à beira do caminho, pedindo esmola.

Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging.

36 Q uando ouviu a multidão passando, ele perguntou o que estava acontecendo.

And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.

37 D isseram-lhe: “Jesus de Nazaré está passando”.

So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

38 E ntão ele se pôs a gritar: “Jesus, filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim!”

And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

39 O s que iam adiante o repreendiam para que ficasse quieto, mas ele gritava ainda mais: “Filho de Davi, tem misericórdia de mim!”

Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

40 J esus parou e ordenou que o homem lhe fosse trazido. Quando ele chegou perto, Jesus perguntou-lhe:

So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,

41 “ O que você quer que eu lhe faça?” “Senhor, eu quero ver”, respondeu ele.

saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”

42 J esus lhe disse: “Recupere a visão! A sua fé o curou ”.

Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”

43 I mediatamente ele recuperou a visão, e seguia Jesus glorificando a Deus. Quando todo o povo viu isso, deu louvores a Deus.

And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
