1 P rotege-me, ó Deus, pois em ti me refugio.

Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.

2 A o Senhor declaro: “Tu és o meu Senhor; não tenho bem nenhum além de ti”.

O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

3 Q uanto aos fiéis que há na terra, eles é que são os notáveis em quem está todo o meu prazer.

As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”

4 G rande será o sofrimento dos que correm atrás de outros deuses. Não participarei dos seus sacrifícios de sangue, e os meus lábios nem mencionarão os seus nomes.

Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god; Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer, Nor take up their names on my lips.

5 S enhor, tu és a minha porção e o meu cálice; és tu que garantes o meu futuro.

O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.

6 A s divisas caíram para mim em lugares agradáveis: Tenho uma bela herança!

The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.

7 B endirei o Senhor, que me aconselha; na escura noite o meu coração me ensina!

I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.

8 S empre tenho o Senhor diante de mim. Com ele à minha direita, não serei abalado.

I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

9 P or isso o meu coração se alegra e no íntimo exulto; mesmo o meu corpo repousará tranqüilo,

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; My flesh also will rest in hope.

10 p orque tu não me abandonarás no sepulcro, nem permitirás que o teu santo sofra decomposição.

For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.

11 T u me farás conhecer a vereda da vida, a alegria plena da tua presença, eterno prazer à tua direita.

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
