1 S enhor, tu me sondas e me conheces.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

2 S abes quando me sento e quando me levanto; de longe percebes os meus pensamentos.

You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.

3 S abes muito bem quando trabalho e quando descanso; todos os meus caminhos são bem conhecidos por ti.

You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.

4 A ntes mesmo que a palavra me chegue à língua, tu já a conheces inteiramente, Senhor.

For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

5 T u me cercas, por trás e pela frente, e pões a tua mão sobre mim.

You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.

6 T al conhecimento é maravilhoso demais e está além do meu alcance; é tão elevado que não o posso atingir.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.

7 P ara onde poderia eu escapar do teu Espírito? Para onde poderia fugir da tua presença?

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?

8 S e eu subir aos céus, lá estás; se eu fizer a minha cama na sepultura, também lá estás.

If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

9 S e eu subir com as asas da alvorada e morar na extremidade do mar,

If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 m esmo ali a tua mão direita me guiará e me susterá.

Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.

11 M esmo que eu diga que as trevas me encobrirão, e que a luz se tornará noite ao meu redor,

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me;

12 v erei que nem as trevas são escuras para ti. A noite brilhará como o dia, pois para ti as trevas são luz.

Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

13 T u criaste o íntimo do meu ser e me teceste no ventre de minha mãe.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 E u te louvo porque me fizeste de modo especial e admirável. Tuas obras são maravilhosas! Digo isso com convicção.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

15 M eus ossos não estavam escondidos de ti quando em secreto fui formado e entretecido como nas profundezas da terra.

My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 O s teus olhos viram o meu embrião; todos os dias determinados para mim foram escritos no teu livro antes de qualquer deles existir.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

17 C omo são preciosos para mim os teus pensamentos, ó Deus! Como é grande a soma deles!

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

18 S e eu os contasse, seriam mais do que os grãos de areia. Se terminasse de contá-los, eu ainda estaria contigo.

If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

19 Q uem dera matasses os ímpios, ó Deus! Afastem-se de mim os assassinos!

Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.

20 P orque falam de ti com maldade; em vão rebelam-se contra ti.

For they speak against You wickedly; Your enemies take Your name in vain.

21 A caso não odeio os que te odeiam, Senhor ? E não detesto os que se revoltam contra ti?

Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?

22 T enho por eles ódio implacável! Considero-os inimigos meus!

I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies.

23 S onda-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração; prova-me, e conhece as minhas inquietações.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;

24 V ê se em minha conduta algo te ofende, e dirige-me pelo caminho eterno.

And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
