1 S enhor, tu me sondas, e me conheces.

O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

2 T u conheces o meu sentar e o meu levantar; de longe entendes o meu pensamento.

You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.

3 E squadrinhas o meu andar, e o meu deitar, e conheces todos os meus caminhos.

You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways.

4 S em que haja uma palavra na minha língua, eis que, ó Senhor, tudo conheces.

For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

5 T u me cercaste em volta, e puseste sobre mim a tua mão.

You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me.

6 T al conhecimento é maravilhoso demais para mim; elevado é, não o posso atingir.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.

7 P ara onde me irei do teu Espírito, ou para onde fugirei da tua presença?

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?

8 S e subir ao céu, tu aí estás; se fizer no Seol a minha cama, eis que tu ali estás também.

If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

9 S e tomar as asas da alva, se habitar nas extremidades do mar,

If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 a inda ali a tua mão me guiará e a tua destra me susterá.

Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.

11 S e eu disser: Ocultem-me as trevas; torne-se em noite a luz que me circunda;

If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me;

12 n em ainda as trevas são escuras para ti, mas a noite resplandece como o dia; as trevas e a luz são para ti a mesma coisa.

Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

13 P ois tu formaste os meus rins; entreteceste-me no ventre de minha mãe.

For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 E u te louvarei, porque de um modo tão admirável e maravilhoso fui formado; maravilhosas são as tuas obras, e a minha alma o sabe muito bem.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

15 O s meus ossos não te foram encobertos, quando no oculto fui formado, e esmeradamente tecido nas profundezas da terra.

My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 O s teus olhos viram a minha substância ainda informe, e no teu livro foram escritos os dias, sim, todos os dias que foram ordenados para mim, quando ainda não havia nem um deles.

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

17 E quão preciosos me são, ó Deus, os teus pensamentos! Quão grande é a soma deles!

How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

18 S e eu os contasse, seriam mais numerosos do que a areia; quando acordo ainda estou contigo.

If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

19 O xalá que matasses o perverso, ó Deus, e que os homens sanguinários se apartassem de mim,

Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.

20 h omens que se rebelam contra ti, e contra ti se levantam para o mal.

For they speak against You wickedly; Your enemies take Your name in vain.

21 N ão odeio eu, ó Senhor, aqueles que te odeiam? e não me aflijo por causa dos que se levantam contra ti?

Do I not hate them, O Lord, who hate You? And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?

22 O deio-os com ódio completo; tenho-os por inimigos.

I hate them with perfect hatred; I count them my enemies.

23 S onda-me, ó Deus, e conhece o meu coração; prova-me, e conhece os meus pensamentos;

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;

24 v ê se há em mim algum caminho perverso, e guia-me pelo caminho eterno.

And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
