1 O ra, depois que o muro foi edificado, tendo eu assentado as portas, e havendo sido designados os porteiros, os cantores e os levitas,

Then it was, when the wall was built and I had hung the doors, when the gatekeepers, the singers, and the Levites had been appointed,

2 p us Hanâni, meu irmão, e Hananias, governador do castelo, sobre Jerusalém; pois ele era homem fiel e temente a Deus, mais do que muitos;

that I gave the charge of Jerusalem to my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the leader of the citadel, for he was a faithful man and feared God more than many.

3 e eu lhes disse: Não se abram as portas de Jerusalém até que o sol aqueça; e enquanto os guardas estiverem nos postos se fechem e se tranquem as portas; e designei dentre os moradores de Jerusalém guardas, cada um por seu turno, e cada um diante da sua casa.

And I said to them, “Do not let the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun is hot; and while they stand guard, let them shut and bar the doors; and appoint guards from among the inhabitants of Jerusalem, one at his watch station and another in front of his own house.” The Captives Who Returned to Jerusalem

4 O ra, a cidade era larga e grande, mas o povo dentro dela era pouco, e ainda as casa não estavam edificadas.

Now the city was large and spacious, but the people in it were few, and the houses were not rebuilt.

5 E ntão o meu Deus me pôs no coração que ajuntasse os nobres, os magistrados e o povo, para registrar as genealogias. E achei o livro da genealogia dos que tinham subido primeiro e achei escrito nele o seguinte:

Then my God put it into my heart to gather the nobles, the rulers, and the people, that they might be registered by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of those who had come up in the first return, and found written in it:

6 E ste são os filhos da província que subiram do cativeiro dentre os exilados, que Nabucodonozor, rei da Babilônia, transportara e que voltaram para Jerusalém e para Judá, cada um para a sua cidade,

These are the people of the province who came back from the captivity, of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, everyone to his city.

7 o s quais vieram com Zorobabel, Jesuá, Neemias, Azarias, Raamias, Naamâni, Mardoqueu, Bilsã, Misperete, Bigvai, Neum e Baaná. Este é o número dos homens do povo de Israel:

Those who came with Zerubbabel were Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, and Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:

All the Nethinim, and the sons of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred and ninety-two.

61 E stes foram os que subiram de Tel-Mela, Tel-Harsa, Querube, Adom, e Imer; porém não puderam provar que as suas casas paternas e as sua linhagem eram de Israel:

And these were the ones who came up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer, but they could not identify their father’s house nor their lineage, whether they were of Israel:

62 o s filhos de Dalaías, os filhos de Tobias, os filhos de Necoda, seiscentos e quarenta e dois.

the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred and forty-two;

63 E dos sacerdotes: os filhos de Hobaías, os filhos Hacoz, os filhos de Barzilai, que tomara por mulher uma das filhas Barzilai, o gileadita, e que foi chamado do seu nome.

and of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Koz, the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name.

64 E stes buscaram o seu registro entre os arrolados nos registros genealógicos, mas não foi encontrado; pelo que, tidos por imundos, foram excluídos do sacerdócio.

These sought their listing among those who were registered by genealogy, but it was not found; therefore they were excluded from the priesthood as defiled.

65 E o governador lhes disse que não comesse das coisas sagradas, até que se levantasse um sacerdote com Urim e Tumim.

And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till a priest could consult with the Urim and Thummim.

66 T oda esta congregação junta somava quarenta e dois mil trezentos e sessenta;

Altogether the whole assembly was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,

67 a fora os seus servos e as suas servas, que foram sete mil trezentos e trinta e sete; e tinham duzentos e quarenta e cinco cantores e cantoras.

besides their male and female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven; and they had two hundred and forty-five men and women singers.

68 O s seus cavalos foram setecentos e trinta e seis; os seus mulos, duzentos e quarenta e cinco;

Their horses were seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules two hundred and forty-five,

69 o s seus camelos, quatrocentos e trinta e cinco; e os seus jumentos, seis mil setecentos e vinte.

their camels four hundred and thirty-five, and donkeys six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

70 O ra, alguns dos cabeças das casas paternas contribuíram para a obra. O governador deu para a tesouraria mil dários de ouro, cinqüenta bacias, e quinhentas e trinta vestes sacerdotais.

And some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury one thousand gold drachmas, fifty basins, and five hundred and thirty priestly garments.

71 E alguns dos cabeças das casas paternas deram para a tesouraria da obra vinte mil dáricos de ouro, e duas mil e duzentas minas de prata.

Some of the heads of the fathers’ houses gave to the treasury of the work twenty thousand gold drachmas, and two thousand two hundred silver minas.

72 O que o resto do povo deu foram vinte mil dáricos de ouro, duas mil minas de prata, e sessenta e sete vestes sacerdotais.

And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand gold drachmas, two thousand silver minas, and sixty-seven priestly garments.

73 O s sacerdotes, os levitas, os porteiros, os cantores, alguns dentre o povo, os netinins e todo o Israel habitaram nas suas cidades. Quando chegou o sétimo mês, já se achavam os filhos de Israel nas suas cidades.

So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the Nethinim, and all Israel dwelt in their cities. Ezra Reads the Law When the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.
