1 T endo terminado de dizer tudo isso ao povo, Jesus entrou em Cafarnaum.

Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum.

2 A li estava o servo de um centurião, doente e quase à morte, a quem seu senhor estimava muito.

And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die.

3 E le ouviu falar de Jesus e enviou-lhe alguns líderes religiosos dos judeus, pedindo-lhe que fosse curar o seu servo.

So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant.

4 C hegando-se a Jesus, suplicaram-lhe com insistência: “Este homem merece que lhe faças isso,

And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving,

5 p orque ama a nossa nação e construiu a nossa sinagoga”.

“for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.”

6 J esus foi com eles. Já estava perto da casa quando o centurião mandou amigos dizerem a Jesus: “Senhor, não te incomodes, pois não mereço receber-te debaixo do meu teto.

Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof.

7 P or isso, nem me considerei digno de ir ao teu encontro. Mas dize uma palavra, e o meu servo será curado.

Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

8 P ois eu também sou homem sujeito a autoridade, e com soldados sob o meu comando. Digo a um: Vá, e ele vai; e a outro: Venha, e ele vem. Digo a meu servo: Faça isto, e ele faz”.

For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it. ”

9 A o ouvir isso, Jesus admirou-se dele e, voltando-se para a multidão que o seguia, disse: “Eu lhes digo que nem em Israel encontrei tamanha fé”.

When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”

10 E ntão os homens que haviam sido enviados voltaram para casa e encontraram o servo restabelecido. Jesus Ressuscita o Filho de uma Viúva

And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick. Jesus Raises the Son of the Widow of Nain

11 L ogo depois, Jesus foi a uma cidade chamada Naim, e com ele iam os seus discípulos e uma grande multidão.

Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd.

12 A o se aproximar da porta da cidade, estava saindo o enterro do filho único de uma viúva; e uma grande multidão da cidade estava com ela.

And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her.

13 A o vê-la, o Senhor se compadeceu dela e disse: “Não chore”.

When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

14 D epois, aproximou-se e tocou no caixão, e os que o carregavam pararam. Jesus disse: “Jovem, eu lhe digo, levante-se!”

Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”

15 O jovem sentou-se e começou a conversar, e Jesus o entregou à sua mãe.

So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother.

16 T odos ficaram cheios de temor e louvavam a Deus. “Um grande profeta se levantou entre nós”, diziam eles. “Deus interveio em favor do seu povo.”

Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, “A great prophet has risen up among us”; and, “God has visited His people.”

17 E ssas notícias sobre Jesus espalharam-se por toda a Judéia e regiões circunvizinhas. Jesus e João Batista

And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region. John the Baptist Sends Messengers to Jesus

18 O s discípulos de João contaram-lhe todas essas coisas. Chamando dois deles,

Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things.

19 e nviou-os ao Senhor para perguntarem: “És tu aquele que haveria de vir ou devemos esperar algum outro?”

And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”

20 D irigindo-se a Jesus, aqueles homens disseram: “João Batista nos enviou para te perguntarmos: ‘És tu aquele que haveria de vir ou devemos esperar algum outro?’”

When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’”

21 N aquele momento Jesus curou muitos que tinham males, doenças graves e espíritos malignos, e concedeu visão a muitos que eram cegos.

And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.

22 E ntão ele respondeu aos mensageiros: “Voltem e anunciem a João o que vocês viram e ouviram: os cegos vêem, os aleijados andam, os leprosos são purificados, os surdos ouvem, os mortos são ressuscitados e as boas novas são pregadas aos pobres;

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.

23 e feliz é aquele que não se escandaliza por minha causa”.

And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

24 D epois que os mensageiros de João foram embora, Jesus começou a falar à multidão a respeito de João: “O que vocês foram ver no deserto? Um caniço agitado pelo vento?

When the messengers of John had departed, He began to speak to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

25 O u, o que foram ver? Um homem vestido de roupas finas? Ora, os que vestem roupas esplêndidas e se entregam ao luxo estão nos palácios.

But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed those who are gorgeously appareled and live in luxury are in kings’ courts.

26 A final, o que foram ver? Um profeta? Sim, eu lhes digo, e mais que profeta.

But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.

27 E ste é aquele a respeito de quem está escrito: “‘Enviarei o meu mensageiro à tua frente; ele preparará o teu caminho diante de ti’.

This is he of whom it is written: ‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You.’

28 E u lhes digo que entre os que nasceram de mulher não há ninguém maior do que João; todavia, o menor no Reino de Deus é maior do que ele”.

For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”

29 T odo o povo, até os publicanos, ouvindo as palavras de Jesus, reconheceram que o caminho de Deus era justo, sendo batizados por João.

And when all the people heard Him, even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.

30 M as os fariseus e os peritos na lei rejeitaram o propósito de Deus para eles, não sendo batizados por João.

But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

31 “ A que posso, pois, comparar os homens desta geração?”, prosseguiu Jesus. “Com que se parecem?

And the Lord said, “To what then shall I liken the men of this generation, and what are they like?

32 S ão como crianças que ficam sentadas na praça e gritam umas às outras: “‘Nós lhes tocamos flauta, mas vocês não dançaram; cantamos um lamento, mas vocês não choraram’.

They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, saying: ‘We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not weep.’

33 P ois veio João Batista, que jejua e não bebe vinho, e vocês dizem: ‘Ele tem demônio’.

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’

34 V eio o Filho do homem, comendo e bebendo, e vocês dizem: ‘Aí está um comilão e beberrão, amigo de publicanos e “pecadores”’.

The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’

35 M as a sabedoria é comprovada por todos os seus discípulos.” Jesus é Ungido por uma Pecadora

But wisdom is justified by all her children.” A Sinful Woman Forgiven

36 C onvidado por um dos fariseus para jantar, Jesus foi à casa dele e reclinou-se à mesa.

Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat.

37 A o saber que Jesus estava comendo na casa do fariseu, certa mulher daquela cidade, uma ‘pecadora’, trouxe um frasco de alabastro com perfume,

And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil,

38 e se colocou atrás de Jesus, a seus pés. Chorando, começou a molhar-lhe os pés com suas lágrimas. Depois os enxugou com seus cabelos, beijou-os e os ungiu com o perfume.

and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil.

39 A o ver isso, o fariseu que o havia convidado disse a si mesmo: “Se este homem fosse profeta, saberia quem nele está tocando e que tipo de mulher ela é: uma ‘pecadora’”.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”

40 E ntão lhe disse Jesus: “Simão, tenho algo a lhe dizer”. “Dize, Mestre”, disse ele.

And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” So he said, “Teacher, say it.”

41 “ Dois homens deviam a certo credor. Um lhe devia quinhentos denários e o outro, cinqüenta.

“There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

42 N enhum dos dois tinha com que lhe pagar, por isso perdoou a dívida a ambos. Qual deles o amará mais?”

And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?”

43 S imão respondeu: “Suponho que aquele a quem foi perdoada a dívida maior”. “Você julgou bem”, disse Jesus.

Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.”

44 E m seguida, virou-se para a mulher e disse a Simão: “Vê esta mulher? Entrei em sua casa, mas você não me deu água para lavar os pés; ela, porém, molhou os meus pés com suas lágrimas e os enxugou com seus cabelos.

Then He turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave Me no water for My feet, but she has washed My feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head.

45 V ocê não me saudou com um beijo, mas esta mulher, desde que entrei aqui, não parou de beijar os meus pés.

You gave Me no kiss, but this woman has not ceased to kiss My feet since the time I came in.

46 V ocê não ungiu a minha cabeça com óleo, mas ela derramou perfume nos meus pés.

You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with fragrant oil.

47 P ortanto, eu lhe digo, os muitos pecados dela lhe foram perdoados; pois ela amou muito. Mas aquele a quem pouco foi perdoado, pouco ama”.

Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.”

48 E ntão Jesus disse a ela: “Seus pecados estão perdoados”.

Then He said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

49 O s outros convidados começaram a perguntar: “Quem é este que até perdoa pecados?”

And those who sat at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this who even forgives sins?”

50 J esus disse à mulher: “Sua fé a salvou; vá em paz”.

Then He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”
