1 P raise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Алілуя! Дякуйте Господу, добрий бо Він, бо навіки Його милосердя!

2 W ho can utter the mighty acts of the Lord ? Who can declare all His praise?

Хто розкаже про велич Господню, розповість усю славу Його?

3 B lessed are those who keep justice, And he who does righteousness at all times!

Блаженні, хто держиться права, хто чинить правду кожного часу!

4 R emember me, O Lord, with the favor You have toward Your people. Oh, visit me with Your salvation,

Згадай мене, Господи, в ласці Своїй до народу Свого, відвідай мене спасінням Своїм,

5 T hat I may see the benefit of Your chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the gladness of Your nation, That I may glory with Your inheritance.

щоб побачити добре вибранців Твоїх, щоб я тішився радощами Твого народу, і хвалився зо спадком Твоїм!

6 W e have sinned with our fathers, We have committed iniquity, We have done wickedly.

Ми згрішили з батьками своїми, скривили, неправдиве чинили...

7 O ur fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, But rebelled by the sea—the Red Sea.

Не зважали на чуда Твої батьки наші в Єгипті, многоти Твоїх ласк не пригадували й бунтувались над морем, над морем Червоним.

8 N evertheless He saved them for His name’s sake, That He might make His mighty power known.

Та Він ради Ймення Свого їх спас, щоб виявити Свою силу.

9 H e rebuked the Red Sea also, and it dried up; So He led them through the depths, As through the wilderness.

Він кликнув на море Червоне і висохло, і Він їх повів через морські глибини, немов по пустині!...

10 H e saved them from the hand of him who hated them, And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

і Він спас їх з руки неприятеля, визволив їх з руки ворога,

11 T he waters covered their enemies; There was not one of them left.

і закрила вода супротивників їхніх, жоден з них не зостався!

12 T hen they believed His words; They sang His praise.

Тоді то в слова Його ввірували, виспівували Йому славу.

13 T hey soon forgot His works; They did not wait for His counsel,

Та скоро забули вони Його чин, не чекали поради Його,

14 B ut lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And tested God in the desert.

і палали в пустині жаданням, і Бога в пустині ізнов випробовували,

15 A nd He gave them their request, But sent leanness into their soul.

і Він їхнє жадання їм дав, але худість послав в їхню душу...

16 W hen they envied Moses in the camp, And Aaron the saint of the Lord,

Та Мойсею позаздрили в таборі, й Ааронові, святому Господньому.

17 T he earth opened up and swallowed Dathan, And covered the faction of Abiram.

Розкрилась земля і Датана поглинула, Авіронові збори накрила,

18 A fire was kindled in their company; The flame burned up the wicked.

і огонь запалав на їхніх зборах, і полум'я те попалило безбожних...

19 T hey made a calf in Horeb, And worshiped the molded image.

Зробили тельця на Хориві, і били поклони бовванові вилитому,

20 T hus they changed their glory Into the image of an ox that eats grass.

і змінили вони свою славу на образ вола, що траву пожирає,

21 T hey forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt,

забули про Бога, свого Спасителя, що велике в Єгипті вчинив,

22 W ondrous works in the land of Ham, Awesome things by the Red Sea.

у землі Хамовій чуда, страшні речі над морем Червоним...

23 T herefore He said that He would destroy them, Had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, To turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them.

і сказав Він понищити їх, коли б не Мойсей, вибранець Його, що став був у виломі перед обличчям Його відвернути Його гнів, щоб не шкодив!

24 T hen they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word,

Погордили землею жаданою, не повірили слову Його,

25 B ut complained in their tents, And did not heed the voice of the Lord.

і ремствували по наметах своїх, неслухняні були до Господнього голосу.

26 T herefore He raised His hand in an oath against them, To overthrow them in the wilderness,

і Він підійняв Свою руку на них, щоб їх повалити в пустині,

27 T o overthrow their descendants among the nations, And to scatter them in the lands.

і щоб повалити їхнє потомство посеред народів, та щоб розпорошити їх по країнах!

28 T hey joined themselves also to Baal of Peor, And ate sacrifices made to the dead.

і служили Ваалові пеорському, й їли вони жертви мертвих,

29 T hus they provoked Him to anger with their deeds, And the plague broke out among them.

і ділами своїми розгнівали Бога, тому вдерлась зараза між них!

30 T hen Phinehas stood up and intervened, And the plague was stopped.

і встав тоді Пінхас та й розсудив, і зараза затрималась,

31 A nd that was accounted to him for righteousness To all generations forevermore.

і йому пораховано в праведність це, з роду в рід аж навіки.

32 T hey angered Him also at the waters of strife, So that it went ill with Moses on account of them;

і розгнівали Бога вони над водою Меріви, і через них стало зле для Мойсея,

33 B ecause they rebelled against His Spirit, So that he spoke rashly with his lips.

бо духа його засмутили, і він говорив нерозважно устами своїми...

34 T hey did not destroy the peoples, Concerning whom the Lord had commanded them,

Вони не познищували тих народів, що Господь говорив їм про них,

35 B ut they mingled with the Gentiles And learned their works;

і помішались з поганами, та їхніх учинків навчились.

36 T hey served their idols, Which became a snare to them.

і божищам їхнім служили, а ті пасткою стали для них...

37 T hey even sacrificed their sons And their daughters to demons,

і приносили в жертву синів своїх, а дочок своїх демонам,

38 A nd shed innocent blood, The blood of their sons and daughters, Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan; And the land was polluted with blood.

і кров чисту лили, кров синів своїх і дочок своїх, що їх у жертву приносили божищам ханаанським. і через кривавий переступ земля посквернилась,

39 T hus they were defiled by their own works, And played the harlot by their own deeds.

і стали нечисті вони через учинки свої, і перелюб чинили ділами своїми...

40 T herefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against His people, So that He abhorred His own inheritance.

і проти народу Свого запалав гнів Господній, і спадок Його Йому став огидним,

41 A nd He gave them into the hand of the Gentiles, And those who hated them ruled over them.

і віддав їх у руку народів, і їхні ненависники панували над ними,

42 T heir enemies also oppressed them, And they were brought into subjection under their hand.

і їхні вороги їх гнобили, і вони впокорилися під їхню руку...

43 M any times He delivered them; But they rebelled in their counsel, And were brought low for their iniquity.

Багато разів Він визволював їх, але вони вперті були своїм задумом, і пригноблено їх через їхню провину!

44 N evertheless He regarded their affliction, When He heard their cry;

Та побачив Він їхню тісноту, коли почув їхні благання,

45 A nd for their sake He remembered His covenant, And relented according to the multitude of His mercies.

і Він пригадав їм Свого заповіта, і пожалував був за Своєю великою милістю,

46 H e also made them to be pitied By all those who carried them away captive.

і збудив милосердя до них між усіма, що їх полонили!

47 S ave us, O Lord our God, And gather us from among the Gentiles, To give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.

Спаси нас, о Господи, Боже наш, і нас позбирай з-між народів, щоб дякувати Йменню святому Твоєму, щоб Твоєю хвалитися славою!

48 B lessed be the Lord God of Israel From everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the Lord!

Благословенний Господь, Бог ізраїлів звіку й навіки! і ввесь народ нехай скаже: Амінь! Алілуя!
