1 “ Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant, And Israel whom I have chosen.

А тепер ось послухай, о Якове, рабе Мій, та Ізраїлю, якого Я вибрав.

2 T hus says the Lord who made you And formed you from the womb, who will help you: ‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant; And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

Так говорить Господь, що тебе учинив і тебе вформував від утроби, і тобі помагає: Не бійся, рабе Мій, Якове, і Єшуруне, якого Я вибрав!

3 F or I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;

Бо виллю Я воду на спрагнене, а текучі потоки на суходіл, виллю Духа Свого на насіння твоє, а благословення Моє на нащадків твоїх,

4 T hey will spring up among the grass Like willows by the watercourses.’

і будуть вони виростати, немов між травою, немов ті тополі при водних потоках!

5 O ne will say, ‘I am the Lord ’s’; Another will call himself by the name of Jacob; Another will write with his hand, ‘The Lord ’s,’ And name himself by the name of Israel. There Is No Other God

Цей буде казати: Я Господній, а той зватиметься йменням Якова, інший напише своєю рукою: для Господа я, і буде зватися йменням Ізраїля.

6 “ Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.

Так говорить Господь, Цар Ізраїлів та Викупитель його, Господь Саваот: Я перший, і Я останній, і Бога нема, окрім Мене!

7 A nd who can proclaim as I do? Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me, Since I appointed the ancient people. And the things that are coming and shall come, Let them show these to them.

І хто зветься, як Я? Хай розкаже про те, й хай звістить те Мені з того часу, коли Я заклав у давнині народ, і хай нам розкаже майбутнє й прийдешнє.

8 D o not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one. ’” Idolatry Is Foolishness

Не бійтеся та не лякайтесь! Хіба здавна Я не розповів був тобі й не звістив? А ви свідки Мої! Чи є Бог, окрім Мене? І Скелі немає, не знаю ні жодної!

9 T hose who make an image, all of them are useless, And their precious things shall not profit; They are their own witnesses; They neither see nor know, that they may be ashamed.

Всі, що роблять бовванів, марнота вони, і їхні улюбленці не помагають, а свідками того самі: не бачать вони та не знають, щоб застидатись!

10 W ho would form a god or mold an image That profits him nothing?

Хто бога зробив та ідола вилив, що він не помагає?

11 S urely all his companions would be ashamed; And the workmen, they are mere men. Let them all be gathered together, Let them stand up; Yet they shall fear, They shall be ashamed together.

Тож друзі його посоромлені будуть усі, майстрі ж вони тільки з людей. Хай вони всі зберуться та стануть: вони полякаються та посоромляться разом!

12 T he blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals, Fashions it with hammers, And works it with the strength of his arms. Even so, he is hungry, and his strength fails; He drinks no water and is faint.

Коваль тне з заліза сокиру, і в горючім вугіллі працює, і формує божка молотками та робить його своїм сильним раменом, а при тім той голодний й безсилий, не п'є води й мучиться...

13 T he craftsman stretches out his rule, He marks one out with chalk; He fashions it with a plane, He marks it out with the compass, And makes it like the figure of a man, According to the beauty of a man, that it may remain in the house.

А тесля витягує шнура, визначує штифтом його, того ідола, гемблями робить його та окреслює циркулем це, і робить його на подобу людини, як розкішний зразок чоловіка, щоб у домі поставити.

14 H e cuts down cedars for himself, And takes the cypress and the oak; He secures it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a pine, and the rain nourishes it.

Настинає кедрин він собі, і візьме граба й дуба, і міцне собі викохає між лісними деревами, ясен посадить, а дощик вирощує.

15 T hen it shall be for a man to burn, For he will take some of it and warm himself; Yes, he kindles it and bakes bread; Indeed he makes a god and worships it; He makes it a carved image, and falls down to it.

І стане людині оце все на паливо, і візьме частину із того й зогріється, теж підпалить в печі й спече хліб. Також виробить бога й йому поклоняється, ідолом зробить його, і перед ним на коліна впадає.

16 H e burns half of it in the fire; With this half he eats meat; He roasts a roast, and is satisfied. He even warms himself and says, “Ah! I am warm, I have seen the fire.”

Половину його він попалить в огні, на половині його варить м'ясо та їсть, печеню пече й насичається, також гріється та приговорює: Як добре, нагрівся, відчув я огонь...

17 A nd the rest of it he makes into a god, His carved image. He falls down before it and worships it, Prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

А останок його він за бога вчинив, за боввана свого, перед ним на коліна впадає та кланяється, йому молиться й каже: Рятуй же мене, бо ти бог мій!

18 T hey do not know nor understand; For He has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, And their hearts, so that they cannot understand.

Не знають і не розуміють вони, бо їхні очі зажмурені, щоб не побачити, і стверділи їхні серця, щоб не розуміти!

19 A nd no one considers in his heart, Nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire, Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals; I have roasted meat and eaten it; And shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?”

І не покладе він до серця свого, і немає знання ані розуму, щоб проказати: Половину його попалив я в огні, і на вугіллі його я пік хліб, смажив м'ясо та їв. А решту його за огиду вчиню, буду кланятися дерев'яній колоді?

20 H e feeds on ashes; A deceived heart has turned him aside; And he cannot deliver his soul, Nor say, “ Is there not a lie in my right hand?” Israel Is Not Forgotten

Він годується попелом! Звело його серце обманене, і він не врятує своєї душі, та не скаже: Хіба не брехня у правиці моїй?

21 “ Remember these, O Jacob, And Israel, for you are My servant; I have formed you, you are My servant; O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me!

Пам'ятай про це, Якове та Ізраїлю, бо ти раб Мій! Я тебе вформував був для Себе рабом, Мій Ізраїлю, ти не будеш забутий у Мене!

22 I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, And like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

Провини твої постирав Я, мов хмару, і немов мряку гріхи твої, навернися ж до Мене, тебе бо Я викупив!

23 S ing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it! Shout, you lower parts of the earth; Break forth into singing, you mountains, O forest, and every tree in it! For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, And glorified Himself in Israel. Judah Will Be Restored

Радійте, небеса, бо Господь це зробив; викликуйте радісно, глибини землі; втішайтеся співом, о гори та лісе, та в нім всяке дерево, бо Господь викупив Якова, і прославивсь в Ізраїлі!

24 T hus says the Lord, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb: “I am the Lord, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;

Так говорить Господь, твій Відкупитель, та Той, що тебе вформував від утроби: Я, Господь, Той, Хто чинить усе: Розтягнув Я Сам небо та землю втвердив, хто при тім був зо Мною?

25 W ho frustrates the signs of the babblers, And drives diviners mad; Who turns wise men backward, And makes their knowledge foolishness;

Хто ознаки ламає брехливим, і робить безглуздими чарівників, Хто з нічим мудреців відсилає, і їхні знання обертає в нерозум,

26 W ho confirms the word of His servant, And performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to Jerusalem, ‘You shall be inhabited,’ To the cities of Judah, ‘You shall be built,’ And I will raise up her waste places;

Хто сповнює слово Свого раба, і виконує раду Своїх посланців, Хто Єрусалимові каже: Ти будеш заселений! а юдейським містам: Забудовані будете ви, а руїни його відбудую!

27 W ho says to the deep, ‘Be dry! And I will dry up your rivers’;

Хто глибіні проказує: Висохни, а річки твої Я повисушую,

28 W ho says of Cyrus, ‘ He is My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem, “You shall be built,” And to the temple, “Your foundation shall be laid.”’

Хто до Кіра говорить: Мій пастирю, і всяке Моє пожадання він виконає та Єрусалимові скаже: Збудований будеш! а храмові: Будеш закладений!
