2 G od is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies;

Палкий Бог, і мстивий Господь, Господь мстивий та лютий, Господь мстивий до тих, хто Його ненавидить, і пам'ятає про кривду Своїх ворогів.

3 T he Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The Lord has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet.

Господь довготерпеливий і великої потуги, та очистити винного Він не очистить. Господь у бурі та в вихрі дорога Його, а хмара від стіп Його курява.

4 H e rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts.

Як загнівається Він на море, то сушить його, і всі ріки висушує, в'яне Башан та Кармел, і в'яне та квітка Лівану.

5 T he mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.

Гори тремтять перед Ним, а підгірки топніють, перед обличчям Його трясеться земля та вселенна, та всі її мешканці.

6 W ho can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him.

Хто встоїть перед гнівом Його, і хто стане у полум'ї люті Його? Його шал виливається, мов той огонь, і розпадаються скелі від Нього!

7 T he Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

Добрий Господь, пристановище Він у день утиску, і знає Він тих, хто на Нього надіється!

8 B ut with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies.

Але в зливі навальній Він зробить кінця між Його заколотниками, і ворогів зажене у темноту.

9 W hat do you conspire against the Lord ? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time.

Що ви думаєте проти Господа? Бо Він зробить кінця, не постане два рази насильство.

10 F or while tangled like thorns, And while drunken like drunkards, They shall be devoured like stubble fully dried.

Бо вони переплутані, наче той терен, і повпивались, немов би вином, вони будуть пожерті зовсім, мов солома суха!

11 F rom you comes forth one Who plots evil against the Lord, A wicked counselor.

З тебе вийшов задумуючий проти Господа лихо, радник нікчемний.

12 T hus says the Lord: “Though they are safe, and likewise many, Yet in this manner they will be cut down When he passes through. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more;

Так говорить Господь: Хоч були б найсильніші і дуже численні, та постинані будуть вони, та й минуться! І хоч Я тебе мучив, та мучити більше тебе вже не буду!

13 F or now I will break off his yoke from you, And burst your bonds apart.”

А тепер Я зламаю ярмо його, яке на тобі, і пута твої позриваю.

14 T he Lord has given a command concerning you: “Your name shall be perpetuated no longer. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the carved image and the molded image. I will dig your grave, For you are vile.”

І накаже на тебе, Ашшуре, Господь: Більш не буде вже сіятися з твого ймення! З дому бога твого Я боввана та ідола витну, зроблю тобі гроба із них, бо ти став легковажений.

15 B ehold, on the mountains The feet of him who brings good tidings, Who proclaims peace! O Judah, keep your appointed feasts, Perform your vows. For the wicked one shall no more pass through you; He is utterly cut off.

(2-1) Ось на горах ноги благовісника, що звіщає про мир: Святкуй, Юдо, свята свої, виконуй присяги свої, бо більше не буде нікчемний ходити по тобі, він витятий ввесь!
