1 M oreover the Lord said to me, “Take a large scroll, and write on it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.

І промовив до мене Господь: Візьми собі велику таблицю, і напиши на ній людським письмом: Квапиться здобич, скорий грабіж.

2 A nd I will take for Myself faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”

І взяв я за свідків собі свідків вірних, священика Урію та Захарія, Єверехіїного сина.

3 T hen I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the Lord said to me, “Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;

І зблизився я до пророчиці, і вона зачала, і породила сина. Господь же до мене промовив: Назви ім'я йому: Квапиться здобич, скорий грабіж.

4 f or before the child shall have knowledge to cry ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be taken away before the king of Assyria.”

Бо поки юнак той умітиме кликати Батьку мій, та: Мамо моя, понесеться багатство Дамаску та здобич Самарії перед обличчя царя асирійського.

5 T he Lord also spoke to me again, saying:

І Господь ще далі говорив до мене й казав:

6 “ Inasmuch as these people refused The waters of Shiloah that flow softly, And rejoice in Rezin and in Remaliah’s son;

За те, що народ цей знехтував воду Сілоамську, яка тихо пливе, і має радість з Реціном і з сином Ремаліїним,

7 N ow therefore, behold, the Lord brings up over them The waters of the River, strong and mighty— The king of Assyria and all his glory; He will go up over all his channels And go over all his banks.

то тому ось Господь піднесе на них воду ріки, сильну й велику, царя асирійського та всю славу його. І підійметься вона понад усі свої річища, і піде понад усі береги свої.

8 H e will pass through Judah, He will overflow and pass over, He will reach up to the neck; And the stretching out of his wings Will fill the breadth of Your land, O Immanuel.

І перейде по Юді вона, заллє та затопить, аж до шиї досягне, і розтягне вона свої крила на всю широчінь твого краю, о Еммануїле!

9 “ Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Give ear, all you from far countries. Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces; Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces.

Озлобляйтесь народи, й збентежені будете, почуй, уся земле далека! Озбройтесь, і збентежені будете, озбройтесь, і збентежені будете!

10 T ake counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us.” Fear God, Heed His Word

Радьте раду і буде вона поруйнована, слово кажіть і не збудеться, бо з нами Бог!

11 F or the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:

Бо так говорив був до мене Господь у силі Своєї руки надо мною, й остерігав мене, щоб не ходити дорогою цього народу, і казав:

12 “ Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.

Не кажіть змова на все, на що каже змова цей народ, і не бійтесь того, чого він боїться, і не лякайтеся!

13 T he Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread.

Господа Саваота Його свято шануйте, і Його вам боятись, Його вам лякатись!

14 H e will be as a sanctuary, But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense To both the houses of Israel, As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

І буде Він за святиню, і за камінь спотикання, і за скелю спокуси для двох домів Ізраїля, за сітку й за пастку для мешканця Єрусалиму.

15 A nd many among them shall stumble; They shall fall and be broken, Be snared and taken.”

І спіткнуться об них багатохто, і попадають, і будуть поламані, і заплутаються, і будуть схоплені.

16 B ind up the testimony, Seal the law among my disciples.

Зв'яжи свідоцтво, запечатай Закона між Моїми учнями.

17 A nd I will wait on the Lord, Who hides His face from the house of Jacob; And I will hope in Him.

І я буду чекати Господа, що ховає лице Своє від Якового дому, і буду надіятись на Нього.

18 H ere am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel From the Lord of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion.

Ось я та ті діти, що дав мені Господь, вони на знаки та на чуда в Ізраїлі від Господа Саваота, що пробуває на горі Сіон.

19 A nd when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?

А коли вам скажуть: Запитуйте духів померлих та чародіїв, що цвірінькають та муркають, то відповісте: Чи ж народ не звертається до свого Бога? За живих питатися мертвих?

20 T o the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

До Закону й свідоцтва! Як вони не так кажуть, як це, то немає для них зорі ранньої!

21 T hey will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

І буде блукати утискуваний та голодний. І станеться, коли він зголодніє, то запіниться, і прокляне царя свого та Бога свого, і погляне догори,

22 T hen they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.

і подивиться він на землю, аж ось тут горе та темнота, темрява утиску, і він буде пхнутий у темність...
