5 T hey break in pieces Your people, O Lord, And afflict Your heritage.

Вони тиснуть народ Твій, о Господи, а спадок Твій вони мучать...

6 T hey slay the widow and the stranger, And murder the fatherless.

Вдову та чужинця вбивають вони, і мордують сиріт

7 Y et they say, “The Lord does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob understand.”

та й говорять: Не бачить Господь, і не завважить Бог Яковів...

8 U nderstand, you senseless among the people; And you fools, when will you be wise?

Зрозумійте це ви, нерозумні в народі, а ви, убогі на розум, коли наберетеся глузду?

9 H e who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see?

Хіба Той, що ухо щепив, чи Він не почує? Хіба Той, що око створив, чи Він не побачить?

10 H e who instructs the nations, shall He not correct, He who teaches man knowledge?

Хіба Той, що карає народи, чи Він не скартає, Він, що навчає людину знання?

11 T he Lord knows the thoughts of man, That they are futile.

Господь знає всі людські думки, що марнота вони!

12 B lessed is the man whom You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law,

Блаженний той муж, що його Ти караєш, о Господи, і з Закону Свого навчаєш його,

13 T hat You may give him rest from the days of adversity, Until the pit is dug for the wicked.

щоб його заспокоїти від лиходення, аж поки не викопана буде яма безбожному,

14 F or the Lord will not cast off His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance.

бо Господь не опустить народу Свого, а спадку Свого не полишить,

15 B ut judgment will return to righteousness, And all the upright in heart will follow it.

бо до праведности суд повернеться, а за ним всі невинного серця!

16 W ho will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Хто встане зо мною навпроти злостивих, хто встане зо мною навпроти злочинців?

17 U nless the Lord had been my help, My soul would soon have settled in silence.

Коли б не Господь мені в поміч, то душа моя трохи була б не лягла в царство смерти!...

18 I f I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.

Коли я кажу: Похитнулась нога моя, то, Господи, милість Твоя підпирає мене!

19 I n the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul.

Коли мої думки болючі в нутрі моїм множаться, то розради Твої веселять мою душу!

20 S hall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, Have fellowship with You?

Чи престол беззаконня з Тобою з'єднається, той, що гріх учиняє над право?

21 T hey gather together against the life of the righteous, And condemn innocent blood.

Збираються проти душі справедливого, і чисту кров винуватять.

22 B ut the Lord has been my defense, And my God the rock of my refuge.

і Господь став для мене твердинею, і мій Бог став за скелю притулку мого,

23 H e has brought on them their own iniquity, And shall cut them off in their own wickedness; The Lord our God shall cut them off.

і Він їхню силу на них повернув, і злом їхнім їх нищить, їх нищить Господь, Бог наш!
