1 J ob kept on speaking, and said,

Iov şi-a continuat discursul şi a zis:

2 “ As God lives, Who has taken away my right, and the All-powerful, Who has troubled my soul,

„Viu este Dumnezeu, Care nu-mi dă dreptate, Cel Atotputernic, Care mi-a amărât sufletul,

3 a s long as life is in me, and the breath of God is in my nose,

că atâta vreme cât am suflare, cât am suflarea lui Dumnezeu în nările mele,

4 m y lips will not speak what is not true, and my tongue will not lie.

buzele mele nu vor rosti vreo nedreptate şi limba mea nu va spune nimic înşelător.

5 F ar be it from me to say that you are right. Until I die I will not put away my honor.

Departe de mine gândul să vă dau dreptate; îmi voi apăra integritatea până îmi voi da suflarea!

6 I hold on to what is right and good and will not let it go. My heart does not put me to shame for any of my days.

Îmi voi susţine neclintit dreptatea, inima nu mă va mustra pentru nici una din zilele mele.

7 “ May the one who hates me be as the sinful. And may the one who is against me be as those who are not right and good.

Fie ca duşmanul meu să se poarte ca cel rău şi împotrivitorul meu ca cel nedrept.

8 F or what is the hope of the man without God when he dies, when God takes away his life?

Ce nădejde mai are cel lipsit de evlavie când Dumnezeu îi taie firul vieţii, când Dumnezeu îi ia viaţa?

9 W ill God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him?

Îi va auzi Dumnezeu strigătul când va veni necazul asupra lui?

10 W ill he be glad in the All-powerful? Will he call on God at all times?

Se va desfăta el în Cel Atotputernic? Va chema el pe Dumnezeu în orice vreme?

11 I will teach you about the power of God. I will not hide the ways of the All-powerful.

Vă voi învăţa despre puterea lui Dumnezeu! Nu vă voi ascunde căile Celui Atotputernic.

12 A ll of you have seen it yourselves. Why then do you speak in a foolish way?

Voi înşivă aţi văzut toate acestea. De ce atunci toată vorbirea aceasta fără rost?

13 “ This is what God gives to a sinful man, the gift that a man who makes it hard for others receives from the All-powerful.

Aceasta este partea dată de Dumnezeu celui rău şi moştenirea dată de Cel Atotputernic celui asupritor.

14 I f he has many sons, they will be killed by the sword. And his children will not have enough bread to eat.

Dacă i se înmulţesc copiii, soarta lor este sabia şi urmaşii lui nu vor avea niciodată mâncare de ajuns.

15 T hose who are left to him will be buried because of disease. And the wives who have lost their husbands will not be able to cry.

Ciuma îi va îngropa urmaşii, iar văduvele acestora nu-i vor jeli.

16 H e may gather up silver like dust, and gather so much clothing as if they were clay.

Deşi el adună argintul precum adună ţărâna şi hainele precum grămezile de lut,

17 H e may have it, but those who are right with God will wear it. And those who are without guilt will divide the silver.

lucrurile pe care el le strânge le va îmbrăca cel drept, iar cel nevinovat va împărţi argintul lui.

18 H e builds his house like the home of a spider, or like a tent which a watchman has made.

Casa zidită de el este ca cea a unei molii, ca o colibă făcută de un străjer.

19 H e goes to bed rich, but will never again. When he opens his eyes, his riches are gone.

Când se culcă e bogat, dar nu va mai fi aşa; când îşi deschide ochii toate s-au dus.

20 F ears come over him like a flood. A storm carries him away in the night.

Spaimele îl cuprind ca un şuvoi; o vijelie îl smulge în timpul nopţii.

21 T he east wind carries him away, and he is gone. It carries him away from his place.

Vântul de răsărit îl ia şi îl duce, îl smulge din locul său ca o furtună.

22 I t comes at him without pity. He tries to run from its power as fast as he can.

Vuieşte asupra lui fără milă când el fuge grăbit de puterea lui.

23 M en clap their hands at him, and drive him from his place with sounds of shame.

Îi bate din palme în derâdere şi-l goneşte cu glas şuierător.
