14 “ In those times many will fight against the king of the South. Angry men among your people will also go against the king to do what was shown in the special dream, but they will not win.

În vremurile acelea, mulţi se vor ridica împotriva regelui din sud. Nişte oameni violenţi din poporul tău se vor răscula ca să împlinească viziunea, însă vor cădea.

15 T hen the king of the North will come and build a battle-wall, and take a very strong city. The army of the South will not be able to stand against him, not even their best soldiers. They will not have enough strength.

Când regele din nord va veni, va ridica rampe de asalt şi va cuceri o cetate fortificată. Forţele regelui din sud nu-i vor putea sta împotrivă şi nici chiar trupele cele mai alese nu i se vor putea împotrivi.

16 T he king of the North will do as he pleases. No one will be able to stand against him. He will stay for awhile in the Beautiful Land with the power to destroy it.

În locul lui se va ridica un om dispreţuit, căruia nu i s-a dat măreţie regală. El va veni pe neaşteptate şi va pune mâna pe regat prin uneltiri.

Oştile cele copleşitoare la număr vor fi măturate dinaintea lui şi vor fi zdrobite; la fel se va întâmpla şi cu prinţul legământului.

27 T he hearts of both kings will be sinful. They will lie to each other at the same table. But nothing will come of it, for the end will still come at the chosen time.

Cei doi regi, cu inimile înclinate spre rău, vor sta la aceeaşi masă şi se vor minţi unul pe altul, dar nu vor reuşi, căci sfârşitul va fi la vremea hotărâtă.

28 T hen the king of the North will return to his land with many things of much worth. But his heart will be set against the holy agreement. He will work against it and then return to his own land.

Regele din nord se va întoarce în ţara lui cu mari bogăţii, dar inima lui va fi împotriva legământului sfânt. Va lucra întocmai, iar apoi se va întoarce în ţara lui.

29 “ At the chosen time he will return to the South, but this time it will not be as it was before.

La timpul hotărât va reveni şi va înainta împotriva sudului, dar nu va mai fi ca înainte.

30 F or ships of Kittim will come against him, and he will be afraid and turn back. He will return in anger and go against the holy agreement. He will come back and show favor to those who have turned away from the holy agreement.

Vor veni împotriva lui nişte corăbii din Chitim, care-l vor descuraja. Se va retrage şi îşi va vărsa apoi mânia asupra legământului sfânt. Întorcându-se, îi va favoriza pe cei ce au părăsit legământul sfânt.

31 H is armies will come and make the house of God unclean, and put an end to the burnt gifts. Then they will set up the very sinful manmade god.

Oştile trimise de el vor ocupa şi vor profana Lăcaşul şi fortăreaţa, vor îndepărta jertfa continuă şi vor aşeza urâciunea pustiirii.

32 H e will speak well of those who sin against the agreement. But the people who know their God will show their strength and stand against him.

Îi va corupe prin linguşiri pe cei ce calcă legământul, dar cei din popor, care Îl cunosc pe Dumnezeul lor, vor rămâne tari şi vor rezista.

33 T hose people who are wise will make many understand. But for many days they will be killed by the sword or by fire, or be taken to prison or robbed.

Înţelepţii poporului îi vor învăţa pe mulţi, chiar dacă, pentru o vreme, unii din ei vor cădea prin sabie sau prin foc, în captivitate sau prădaţi.

34 W hen they fall, they will receive a little help. And many will pretend to be their friends.

Când vor cădea, vor primi puţin ajutor şi mulţi li se vor alătura fără a fi sinceri.

35 S ome of the wise people will be hurt, but this is so they will be made pure through punishment until the time of the end. For the end will still come at the chosen time.

Unii dintre înţelepţi vor cădea pentru a fi încercaţi, curăţiţi şi albiţi până la vremea sfârşitului, căci sfârşitul va fi doar la vremea hotărâtă. Regele care se va înălţa pe sine

36 “ Then the king will do as he pleases. He will honor himself more than every god, and will say very bad things against the God of gods. Everything will go well for him until the time of anger is finished. For what has been planned will be done.

Regele va face ce-i va plăcea. Se va mări şi se va înălţa deasupra oricărui zeu şi va rosti lucruri nemaiauzite împotriva Dumnezeului dumnezeilor. El va reuşi până când se va sfârşi perioada mâniei, căci ce este hotărât se va împlini.

37 H e will not care about the gods of his fathers or for the one that women like. He will not care about any other god, for he will honor himself more than any of them.

Nu va ţine seamă nici de zeii strămoşilor lui, nici de cel dorit de femei. El nu va ţine seamă de nici un zeu, ci se va mări pe sine însuşi deasupra tuturor.

38 I nstead he will honor a god of strong cities, a god his fathers did not know. He will honor him with gold, silver, stones of much worth, and riches.

În locul lor va cinsti un zeu al fortăreţelor; pe acest zeu, necunoscut strămoşilor lui, îl va cinsti cu aur şi cu argint, cu pietre preţioase şi cu lucruri de preţ.

39 A nd he will fight against the strongest cities with the help of a strange god. He will give great honor to those who follow him, and will let them rule over many people. And he will divide the land for a price.

Cu ajutorul acestui zeu străin va lupta împotriva cetăţilor fortificate. Celor ce-l vor recunoaşte le va oferi multe onoruri şi pe mulţi dintre aceştia îi va pune să domnească şi le va împărţi pământul drept răsplată.

40 “ At the time of the end the king of the South will go against him. And the king of the North will fight against him with war-wagons, horsemen, and many ships. He will come into countries like a flood and pass through.

La vremea sfârşitului, regele din sud va porni război cu el. Dar regele din nord se va năpusti ca o furtună asupra acestuia cu care de luptă, cu călăreţi şi cu corăbii multe; va invada multe ţări şi le va traversa ca un potop.

41 H e will also come into the Beautiful Land and many countries will be taken. But Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be saved from his power.

Va invada chiar şi ţara cea minunată. Multe ţări vor cădea, iar cei ce vor scăpa din mâna lui vor fi Edomul, Moabul şi conducătorii amoniţilor.

42 T hen he will fight against other countries, and Egypt will be taken.

Îşi va întinde mâna peste multe ţări şi nici chiar ţara Egiptului nu va scăpa.

43 H e will get the hidden riches of gold and silver and all the things of great worth in Egypt. And the people of Libya and Ethiopia will follow behind him.

Va lua în stăpânire comori ascunse de aur şi de argint şi tot felul de lucruri de preţ din Egipt, iar libienii şi cuşiţii îi vor sta la picioare.

44 B ut news from the East and from the North will trouble him, and he will go with much anger to kill and destroy many people.

Când însă nişte veşti din răsărit şi din nord îl vor tulbura, el va porni cu o mare furie ca să nimicească şi să distrugă pe mulţi.

45 H e will set up his tents made for kings between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain. Yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him.

Îşi va întinde corturile regale între mări, la muntele sfânt şi minunat, însă apoi îl va ajunge sfârşitul şi nimeni nu-l va ajuta.
