1 T hen Pilate took Jesus and had Him beaten.

Atunci Pilat L-a luat pe Isus şi a pus să-L biciuiască.

2 T he soldiers put a crown of thorns on His head. They put a purple coat on Him.

Soldaţii au împletit o coroană de spini, I-au aşezat-o pe cap şi L-au îmbrăcat într-o mantie purpurie.

3 T hen they said, “Hello, King of the Jews!” and hit Him with their hands.

Ei veneau la El şi-I ziceau: „Salutare, Împărate al iudeilor!“ Şi-I dădeau palme.

4 P ilate went out again and said to the people, “See, I bring Him out to you so you will know I do not find Him guilty.”

Pilat a ieşit iarăşi afară şi le-a zis: – Iată, vi-L aduc afară, ca să ştiţi că nu găsesc nici o vină în El!

5 J esus came out. He had on the crown of thorns and a purple coat. Pilate said to the people, “See! This is the Man!” Pilate Tries to Let Jesus Go Free

Isus a ieşit deci afară, purtând cununa de spini şi mantia purpurie. Pilat le-a zis: – Iată Omul!

6 T he religious leaders and the soldiers saw Him. They spoke with loud voices, “Nail Him to a cross! Nail Him to a cross!” Pilate said, “Take Him yourselves and nail Him to a cross. As for me, I do not find Him guilty.”

Când L-au văzut, conducătorii preoţilor şi gărzile au strigat: – Răstigneşte-L! Răstigneşte-L! Pilat le-a zis: – Luaţi-L voi şi răstigniţi-L, pentru că eu nu găsesc nici o vină în El!

7 T he Jews said to Pilate, “We have a Law that says He should die because He has said He is the Son of God.”

Iudeii i-au răspuns: – Noi avem o Lege şi potrivit cu Legea aceasta El trebuie să moară, pentru că S-a făcut pe Sine Fiul lui Dumnezeu.

8 W hen Pilate heard them say this, he was more afraid.

Când Pilat a auzit aceste cuvinte, s-a temut şi mai tare.

9 H e went into the court room again. He said to Jesus, “Where do You come from?” Jesus did not say a word.

A intrat din nou în pretoriu şi L-a întrebat pe Isus: – De unde eşti? Dar Isus nu i-a dat nici un răspuns.

10 P ilate said, “Will You not speak to me? Do You not know that I have the right and the power to nail You to a cross? I have the right and the power to let You go free also.”

Atunci Pilat I-a zis: – Nu vorbeşti cu mine? Nu ştii că am autoritate să Te eliberez şi am autoritate să Te răstignesc?

11 J esus said, “You would not have any right or power over Me if it were not given you from above. For this reason the one who handed Me over to you has the worse sin.”

Isus i-a răspuns: – N-ai avea nici o autoritate asupra Mea dacă nu ţi-ar fi fost dată de sus. De aceea cel ce Mă dă pe mâna ta are un mai mare păcat.

12 W hen Pilate heard this, he wanted to let Jesus go free. But the Jews kept saying, “If you let this Man go free, you are not a friend of Caesar! Whoever makes himself as a king is working against Caesar.”

De atunci Pilat căuta să-L elibereze, însă iudeii strigau: – Dacă-L eliberezi, nu eşti prieten al Cezarului! Oricine se face pe sine împărat este împotriva Cezarului!

13 W hen Pilate heard this, he had Jesus brought in front of him. Pilate sat down at the place where men stand in front of him if they are thought to be guilty. The place is called the Stone Floor.

Când a auzit Pilat aceste cuvinte, L-a dus afară pe Isus şi s-a aşezat pe scaunul de judecată, în locul numit „Pavajul de piatră“, iar în aramaică: „ Gabbatha “.

14 I t was the day to get ready for the special religious gathering to remember how the Jews left Egypt. It was about noon. Pilate said to the Jews, “See, your King!”

Era Ziua Pregătirii Paştelui, cam pe la ceasul al şaselea. Pilat le-a zis iudeilor: – Iată-L pe Împăratul vostru!

15 T hey spoke with a loud voice, “Take Him away! Nail Him to a cross!” Pilate said to them, “Do you want me to nail your King to a cross?” The head religious leaders said, “We have no king but Caesar!”

Ei au strigat: – Ia-L, ia-L, răstigneşte-L! Pilat i-a întrebat: – Să-L răstignesc pe Împăratul vostru? Conducătorii preoţilor au răspuns: – Noi n-avem alt împărat decât pe Cezar!

16 T hen Pilate handed Him over to be nailed to a cross. They took Jesus and led Him away. Jesus on the Cross

Atunci Pilat L-a dat pe mâna lor ca să fie răstignit. Răstignirea L-au luat deci pe Isus,

17 J esus carried His own cross to a hill called the Place of the Skull.

iar El, ducându-Şi crucea, S-a îndreptat spre locul numit „al Craniului“, care în aramaică se numeşte „Golgota“.

18 T here they nailed Him to the cross. With Him were two others. There was one on each side of Jesus.

L-au răstignit acolo şi cu El au răstignit alţi doi, unul într-o parte şi unul în cealaltă parte, cu Isus la mijloc.

19 T hen Pilate put a writing on the cross which said, JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Pilat a scris o însemnare şi a pus-o pe cruce. Pe ea era scris: „Isus din Nazaret, Împăratul iudeilor“.

20 T his was read by many of the Jews. The place where Jesus was nailed to the cross was near the city. The writing was written in the Hebrew and the Latin and the Greek languages.

Mulţi dintre iudei au citit această inscripţie, pentru că locul unde fusese răstignit Isus era aproape de cetate; era scrisă în aramaică, latină şi greacă.

21 T hen the head religious leaders of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews’! Write, ‘He said, I am the King of the Jews.’”

Atunci conducătorii preoţilor iudeilor i-au zis lui Pilat: – Nu scrie: „Împăratul iudeilor“, ci: „El a zis: «Eu sunt Împăratul iudeilor!»“

22 P ilate said, “What I have written is to stay just as it is!” They Divided His Clothes

Pilat le-a răspuns: – Ce-am scris, am scris!

23 T he soldiers who nailed Jesus to the cross took His clothes and divided them in four parts, each soldier getting one part. But His coat which was not sewed was made in one piece.

Când soldaţii L-au răstignit pe Isus, I-au luat hainele şi le-au împărţit în patru părţi, câte o parte pentru fiecare soldat. De asemenea, I-au luat şi tunica. Tunica era fără nici o cusătură, fiind ţesută dintr-o singură bucată de sus până jos.

24 T hey said to each other, “Let us not cut it up. Let us draw names to see whose it should be.” This happened as the Holy Writings said it would happen, “They divided My clothes among them and they drew names for My coat.”

Atunci şi-au zis unii altora: „Să n-o sfâşiem, ci să tragem la sorţi a cui să fie!“ Aceasta s-a întâmplat ca să se împlinească Scriptura care zice: „Şi-au împărţit veşmintele Mele între ei şi au tras la sorţi pentru cămaşa Mea.“ Soldaţii sunt deci cei ce au făcut aceste lucruri.

25 T his is what the soldiers did. The Women at the Cross The mother of Jesus and her sister Mary, the wife of Cleophas, were standing near the cross. Mary Magdalene was there also.

Lângă crucea lui Isus stăteau mama Lui, sora mamei Lui, Maria – soţia lui Clopa – şi Maria Magdalena.

26 J esus saw His mother and the follower whom He loved standing near. He said to His mother, “Woman, look at your son.”

Când Isus a văzut-o pe mama Lui şi, lângă ea, pe ucenicul pe care-l iubea, i-a zis mamei Sale: „Femeie, iată-l pe fiul tău!“.

27 T hen Jesus said to the follower, “Look at your mother.” From that time the follower took her to his own house. The Death of Jesus

Apoi i-a zis ucenicului: „Iat-o pe mama ta!“ Şi din ceasul acela ucenicul a luat-o acasă la el. Moartea lui Isus

28 J esus knew that everything was now finished. Everything happened as the Holy Writings said it would happen. He said, “I am thirsty.”

După aceea, Isus, Care ştia că acum totul s-a sfârşit, ca să se împlinească Scriptura, a zis: „Mi-e sete!“

29 T here was a jar full of sour wine near. They filled a sponge and put it on a stick and put it to His mouth.

30 J esus took the sour wine and said, “It is finished.” He put His head down and gave up His spirit and died. His Bones Were Not Broken

31 T his was the day before the special religious gathering to remember how the Jews left Egypt. The next day was the Day of Rest and the great day of the religious gathering. The Jews went to Pilate and asked to have the legs of the men broken. They wanted their bodies taken away so they would not be hanging on the crosses on the Day of Rest.

Pentru că era Ziua Pregătirii, iudeii, ca să nu rămână trupurile pe cruce în timpul Sabatului, pentru că acel Sabat era o zi mare, i-au cerut lui Pilat să fie zdrobite picioarele celor răstigniţi şi să fie luaţi de pe cruce.

32 T hen the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man and of the other one who had been nailed to crosses beside Jesus.

Soldaţii au venit deci şi i-au zdrobit picioarele primului, apoi şi ale celuilalt care fusese răstignit împreună cu El.

33 T hey came to Jesus. They saw He was already dead so they did not break His legs.

Însă, când au venit la Isus, au văzut că deja murise şi nu I-au mai zdrobit picioarele,

34 B ut one of the soldiers pushed a spear into His side. Blood and water ran out.

ci unul dintre soldaţi I-a străpuns coasta cu suliţa; şi imediat a ieşit sânge şi apă.

35 T he one who saw it is writing this and what he says is true. He knows he is telling the truth so you may believe.

Cel ce a văzut lucrul acesta a depus mărturie şi mărturia lui este adevărată. Şi el ştie că spune adevărul, pentru ca şi voi să credeţi.

36 T hese things happened as the Holy Writings said they would happen, “Not one of His bones will be broken.”

Căci aceste lucruri s-au întâmplat ca să se împlinească Scriptura care zice: „Nici unul din oasele Lui nu va fi rupt.“

37 A nd in another place the Holy Writings say, “They will look at Him Whose side they cut.” The Grave of Jesus

Şi în altă parte, Scriptura mai zice: „Vor privi la Cel pe Care L-au străpuns.“

38 J oseph was from the town of Arimathea. He was a follower of Jesus but was afraid of the Jews. So he worshiped without anyone knowing it. He asked Pilate if he could take away the body of Jesus. Pilate said he could. Then Joseph came and took it away.

După aceea, Iosif din Arimateea, care era ucenic al lui Isus, dar în secret, de frica iudeilor, i-a cerut lui Pilat să-l lase să ia trupul lui Isus. Pilat i-a dat voie. Prin urmare, el a venit şi a luat trupul lui Isus.

39 N icodemus came also. The first time he had come to Jesus had been at night. He brought with him a large box of spices.

A venit şi Nicodim, cel care la început se dusese la Isus noaptea, şi a adus un amestec de aproape o sută de litre de smirnă şi aloe.

40 T hen they took the body of Jesus with the spices and put it in linen cloths. This was the way the Jews made a body ready for the grave.

Au luat trupul lui Isus şi L-au înfăşurat în fâşii de pânză de in, cu miresme, aşa cum este obiceiul de înmormântare la iudei.

41 T here was a garden near the place where He had been nailed to the cross. In the garden there was a new grave in the side of the hill. No one had ever been laid there.

În locul unde fusese răstignit era o grădină, iar în grădină era un mormânt nou, în care nu mai fusese pus nimeni.

42 T his place was near by. Because it was the day the Jews got ready for the special religious gathering, they laid Jesus in it.

Pentru că era Ziua Pregătirii Iudeilor şi pentru că mormântul era aproape, L-au pus pe Isus acolo.
