1 A fter these things Jesus was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.

Después de esto, Jesús andaba por Galilea, pues no deseaba andar por Judea porque los Judíos Lo querían matar.

2 N ow the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was near.

La fiesta de los Judíos, la de los Tabernáculos, estaba cerca.

3 T herefore His brothers said to Him, “Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.

Por eso los hermanos de Jesús Le dijeron: “Sal de aquí, y vete a Judea para que también Tus discípulos vean las obras que Tú haces.

4 F or no one does anything in secret when he himself seeks to be known publicly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.”

Porque nadie hace nada en secreto cuando procura ser conocido en público. Si haces estas cosas, muéstrate al mundo.”

5 F or not even His brothers were believing in Him.

Porque ni aun Sus hermanos creían en El.

6 S o Jesus said to them, “ My time is not yet here, but your time is always opportune.

Entonces Jesús les dijo: “Mi tiempo aún no ha llegado, pero el tiempo de ustedes es siempre oportuno.

7 T he world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I testify of it, that its deeds are evil.

El mundo no puede odiarlos a ustedes, pero Me odia a Mí, porque Yo doy testimonio de él, que sus acciones son malas.

8 G o up to the feast yourselves; I do not go up to this feast because My time has not yet fully come.”

Suban ustedes a la fiesta; Yo no subo a esta fiesta porque Mi tiempo aún no se ha cumplido.”

9 H aving said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.

Y habiéndoles dicho esto, se quedó en Galilea. Jesús Sube a la Fiesta en Secreto

10 B ut when His brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as if, in secret.

Pero cuando Sus hermanos subieron a la fiesta, entonces Jesús también subió; no abiertamente, sino en secreto.

11 S o the Jews were seeking Him at the feast and were saying, “Where is He?”

Por eso los Judíos Lo buscaban en la fiesta y decían: “¿Dónde está Ese?”

12 T here was much grumbling among the crowds concerning Him; some were saying, “He is a good man”; others were saying, “No, on the contrary, He leads the people astray.”

Y había mucha murmuración entre la gente acerca de El. Unos decían: “El es bueno.” Otros decían: “No, al contrario, extravía a la gente.”

13 Y et no one was speaking openly of Him for fear of the Jews.

Sin embargo, nadie hablaba abiertamente de El por miedo a los Judíos. Jesús Enseña Durante la Fiesta

14 B ut when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.

A la mitad de la fiesta, Jesús subió al templo y se puso a enseñar.

15 T he Jews then were astonished, saying, “How has this man become learned, having never been educated?”

Entonces los Judíos se maravillaban, diciendo: “¿Cómo puede Este saber de letras sin haber estudiado?”

16 S o Jesus answered them and said, “ My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me.

Jesús entonces les respondió: “Mi enseñanza no es Mía, sino del que Me envió.

17 I f anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.

Si alguno está dispuesto a hacer la voluntad de Dios, sabrá si Mi enseñanza es de Dios o si hablo de Mí mismo.

18 H e who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

El que habla de sí mismo busca su propia gloria; pero Aquél que busca la gloria del que Lo envió, El es verdadero y no hay injusticia en El.

19 “ Did not Moses give you the Law, and yet none of you carries out the Law? Why do you seek to kill Me?”

“¿No les dio Moisés la Ley, y sin embargo ninguno de ustedes la cumple ? ¿Por qué Me quieren matar ?”

20 T he crowd answered, “ You have a demon! Who seeks to kill You?”

La multitud contestó: “¡Tienes un demonio! ¿Quién Te quiere matar?”

21 J esus answered them, “I did one deed, and you all marvel.

Jesús les respondió: “Una sola obra hice y todos se admiran.

22 F or this reason Moses has given you circumcision (not because it is from Moses, but from the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a man.

Por eso Moisés les ha dado la circuncisión (no porque sea de Moisés, sino de los padres ), y en el día de reposo ustedes circuncidan al hombre.

23 I f a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath so that the Law of Moses will not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?

Y si para no violar la Ley de Moisés un hombre recibe la circuncisión aún en el día de reposo, ¿ por qué están enojados conmigo porque sané por completo a un hombre en el día de reposo?

24 D o not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

No juzguen por la apariencia, sino juzguen con juicio justo.”

25 S o some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Is this not the man whom they are seeking to kill?

Entonces algunos de Jerusalén decían: “¿No es Este al que procuran matar?

26 L ook, He is speaking publicly, and they are saying nothing to Him. The rulers do not really know that this is the Christ, do they?

Y vean, habla en público y no Le dicen nada. ¿No será que en verdad los gobernantes reconocen que Este es el Cristo (el Mesías)?

27 H owever, we know where this man is from; but whenever the Christ may come, no one knows where He is from.”

Sin embargo, nosotros sabemos de dónde es Este; pero cuando venga el Cristo, nadie sabrá de dónde es.”

28 T hen Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, “ You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know.

Jesús entonces, mientras enseñaba en el templo, exclamó en alta voz: “Ustedes Me conocen y saben de dónde soy. Yo no he venido por decisión propia, pero Aquél que Me envió es verdadero, a quien ustedes no conocen.

29 I know Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”

Yo Lo conozco, porque procedo de El, y El Me envió.”

30 S o they were seeking to seize Him; and no man laid his hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come.

Procuraban, pues, prender a Jesús; pero nadie Le echó mano porque todavía no había llegado Su hora.

31 B ut many of the crowd believed in Him; and they were saying, “ When the Christ comes, He will not perform more signs than those which this man has, will He?”

Pero muchos de la multitud creyeron en El, y decían: “Cuando el Cristo venga, ¿acaso hará más señales (milagros) que las que Este ha hecho?”

32 T he Pharisees heard the crowd muttering these things about Him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to seize Him.

Los Fariseos oyeron a la multitud murmurando estas cosas acerca de El. Entonces los principales sacerdotes y los Fariseos enviaron guardias para que Lo prendieran.

33 T herefore Jesus said, “ For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me.

Pero Jesús dijo: “Por un poco más de tiempo estoy con ustedes; después voy a Aquél que Me envió.

34 Y ou will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come.”

Me buscarán y no Me hallarán; y donde Yo esté, ustedes no pueden ir.”

35 T he Jews then said to one another, “ Where does this man intend to go that we will not find Him? He is not intending to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He?

Decían entonces los Judíos entre sí: “¿Adónde piensa irse Este que no Lo podamos encontrar? ¿Será acaso que quiere irse a la dispersión entre los Griegos y enseñar a los Griegos?

36 W hat is this statement that He said, ‘ You will seek Me, and will not find Me; and where I am, you cannot come’ ?”

¿Qué quiere decir esto que ha dicho: ‘Me buscarán y no Me hallarán; y donde Yo esté, ustedes no podrán ir ’?” La Gran Invitación

37 N ow on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “ If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.

En el último día, el gran día de la fiesta, Jesús puesto en pie, exclamó en alta voz: “Si alguien tiene sed, que venga a Mí y beba.

38 H e who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”

El que cree en Mí, como ha dicho la Escritura: ‘De lo más profundo de su ser brotarán ríos de agua viva.’”

39 B ut this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. Division of People over Jesus

Pero El decía esto del Espíritu, que los que habían creído en El habían de recibir; porque el Espíritu no había sido dado todavía, pues Jesús aún no había sido glorificado.

40 S ome of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, “This certainly is the Prophet.”

Entonces algunos de la multitud, cuando oyeron estas palabras, decían: “Verdaderamente Este es el Profeta.”

41 O thers were saying, “This is the Christ.” Still others were saying, “ Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?

Otros decían: “Este es el Cristo (el Mesías).” Pero otros decían: “¿Acaso el Cristo ha de venir de Galilea ?

42 H as not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?”

¿No ha dicho la Escritura que el Cristo viene de la descendencia de David, y de Belén (Casa del Pan), la aldea de donde era David?”

43 S o a division occurred in the crowd because of Him.

Así que surgió una división entre la multitud por causa de El.

44 S ome of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

Y algunos de ellos querían prender a Jesús, pero nadie Le echó mano. Los Guardias Confundidos

45 T he officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?”

Entonces los guardias vinieron a los principales sacerdotes y Fariseos, y éstos les dijeron: “¿Por qué no Lo trajeron?”

46 T he officers answered, “ Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks.”

Los guardias respondieron: “¡Jamás hombre alguno ha hablado como este hombre habla!”

47 T he Pharisees then answered them, “ You have not also been led astray, have you?

Entonces los Fariseos les contestaron: “¿Es que también ustedes se han dejado engañar ?

48 N o one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he?

¿Acaso ha creído en El alguien de los gobernantes o de los Fariseos?

49 B ut this crowd which does not know the Law is accursed.”

Pero esta multitud que no conoce de la Ley, maldita es.”

50 N icodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) said to them,

Nicodemo, el que había venido a Jesús antes, y que era uno de ellos, les dijo:

51 “ Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?”

“¿Acaso juzga nuestra Ley a un hombre a menos que le oiga primero y sepa lo que hace?”

52 T hey answered him, “ You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.”

Ellos le respondieron: “¿Es que tú también eres de Galilea ? Investiga, y verás que ningún profeta sale de Galilea.”

53 ' > Everyone went to his home.

Y cada uno se fue a su casa.
