1 W hen Jesus had finished giving instructions to His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.

Y sucedió que cuando Jesús terminó de dar instrucciones a Sus doce discípulos, se fue de allí a enseñar y predicar en las ciudades de ellos. Jesús y los Discípulos de Juan

2 N ow when John, while imprisoned, heard of the works of Christ, he sent word by his disciples

Al oír Juan en la cárcel de las obras de Cristo (el Mesías), mandó por medio de sus discípulos

3 a nd said to Him, “Are You the Expected One, or shall we look for someone else?”

a decir a Jesús: “¿Eres Tú el que ha de venir, o esperaremos a otro?”

4 J esus answered and said to them, “Go and report to John what you hear and see:

Jesús les respondió: “Vayan y cuenten a Juan lo que oyen y ven:

5 t he blind receive sight and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

los ciegos reciben la vista y los cojos andan, los leprosos quedan limpios, los sordos oyen, los muertos son resucitados y a los pobres se les anuncia el evangelio (las buenas nuevas ).

6 A nd blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.” Jesus’ Tribute to John

Y bienaventurado es el que no se escandaliza de Mí.” Jesús Habla de Juan el Bautista

7 A s these men were going away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

Mientras ellos (los discípulos de Juan) se iban, Jesús comenzó a hablar a las multitudes acerca de Juan: “¿Qué salieron a ver en el desierto ? ¿Una caña sacudida por el viento?

8 B ut what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing ? Those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ palaces!

Pero, ¿qué salieron a ver? ¿Un hombre vestido con ropas finas? Miren, los que usan ropas finas están en los palacios de los reyes.

9 B ut what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet.

Pero, ¿qué salieron a ver? ¿A un profeta ? Sí, les digo, y uno que es más que un profeta.

10 T his is the one about whom it is written, ‘ Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You, Who will prepare Your way before You.’

Este es de quien está escrito: ‘ He aqui, yo envio Mi mensajero delante de Ti, quien preparara Tu camino delante de Ti.’

11 T ruly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

En verdad les digo que entre los nacidos de mujer no se ha levantado nadie mayor que Juan el Bautista; sin embargo, el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos es mayor que él.

12 F rom the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and violent men take it by force.

Desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, el reino de los cielos sufre violencia, y los violentos lo conquistan por la fuerza.

13 F or all the prophets and the Law prophesied until John.

Porque todos los profetas y la Ley profetizaron hasta Juan.

14 A nd if you are willing to accept it, John himself is Elijah who was to come.

Y si quieren aceptar lo, él es Elías, el que había de venir.

15 H e who has ears to hear, let him hear.

El que tiene oídos, que oiga.

16 “ But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places, who call out to the other children,

“Pero, ¿con qué compararé a esta generación? Es semejante a los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas, que dan voces a los otros,

17 a nd say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

y dicen: ‘Les tocamos la flauta, y no bailaron; entonamos endechas (cantos fúnebres), y no se lamentaron.’

18 F or John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘ He has a demon!’

Porque vino Juan que no comía ni bebía, y dicen: ‘Tiene un demonio.’

19 T he Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is vindicated by her deeds.” The Unrepenting Cities

Vino el Hijo del Hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen: ‘Miren, un hombre glotón y bebedor de vino, amigo de recaudadores de impuestos y de pecadores.’ Pero la sabiduría se justifica por sus hechos.” Ayes sobre Ciudades de Galilea

20 T hen He began to denounce the cities in which most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent.

Entonces Jesús comenzó a reprender a las ciudades en las que había hecho la mayoría de Sus milagros, porque no se habían arrepentido:

21 “ Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

“¡ Ay de ti, Corazín! ¡Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si los milagros que se hicieron en ustedes se hubieran hecho en Tiro y en Sidón, hace tiempo que se hubieran arrepentido en cilicio y ceniza.

22 N evertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.

Por eso les digo que en el día del juicio será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y Sidón que para ustedes.

23 A nd you, Capernaum, will not be exalted to heaven, will you? You will descend to Hades; for if the miracles had occurred in Sodom which occurred in you, it would have remained to this day.

Y tú, Capernaúm, ¿acaso serás elevada hasta los cielos? ¡Hasta el Hades (región de los muertos) descenderás! Porque si los milagros que se hicieron en ti se hubieran hecho en Sodoma, ésta hubiera permanecido hasta hoy.

24 N evertheless I say to you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for you.” Come to Me

Sin embargo, les digo que en el día del juicio será más tolerable el castigo para la tierra de Sodoma que para ti.” La Gran Invitación

25 A t that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.

En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo: “Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque ocultaste estas cosas a sabios e inteligentes, y las revelaste a los niños.

26 Y es, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.

Sí, Padre, porque así fue de Tu agrado.

27 A ll things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

Todas las cosas Me han sido entregadas por Mi Padre; y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre, ni nadie conoce al Padre, sino el Hijo, y aquél a quien el Hijo se lo quiera revelar.

28 “ Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

“Vengan a Mí, todos los que están cansados y cargados, y Yo los haré descansar.

29 T ake My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Tomen Mi yugo sobre ustedes y aprendan de Mí, que Yo soy manso y humilde de corazón, y hallaran descanso para sus almas.

30 F or My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Porque Mi yugo es fácil y Mi carga ligera.”
