1 B eloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Amados, no crean a todo espíritu, sino prueben los espíritus para ver si son de Dios, porque muchos falsos profetas han salido al mundo.

2 B y this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God;

En esto ustedes conocen el Espíritu de Dios: todo espíritu que confiesa que Jesucristo ha venido en carne, es de Dios.

3 a nd every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.

Y todo espíritu que no confiesa a Jesús, no es de Dios, y éste es el espíritu del anticristo, del cual ustedes han oído que viene, y que ahora ya está en el mundo.

4 Y ou are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.

Hijos míos, ustedes son de Dios y han vencido a los falsos profetas, porque mayor es Aquél que está en ustedes que el que está en el mundo.

5 T hey are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.

Ellos son del mundo; por eso hablan de parte del mundo, y el mundo los oye.

6 W e are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. God Is Love

Nosotros somos de Dios. El que conoce a Dios, nos oye; el que no es de Dios, no nos oye. En esto conocemos el espíritu de la verdad y el espíritu del error. Dios es Amor

7 B eloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

Amados, amémonos unos a otros, porque el amor es de Dios, y todo el que ama es nacido de Dios y conoce a Dios.

8 T he one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

El que no ama no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor.

9 B y this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.

En esto se manifestó el amor de Dios en nosotros: en que Dios ha enviado a Su Hijo unigénito (único) al mundo para que vivamos por medio de El.

10 I n this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que El nos amó a nosotros y envió a Su Hijo como propiciación por nuestros pecados.

11 B eloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Amados, si Dios así nos amó, también nosotros debemos amarnos unos a otros.

12 N o one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

A Dios nunca Lo ha visto nadie. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros y Su amor se perfecciona en nosotros.

13 B y this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.

En esto sabemos que permanecemos en El y El en nosotros: en que nos ha dado de Su Espíritu.

14 W e have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.

Y nosotros hemos visto y damos testimonio de que el Padre envió al Hijo para ser el Salvador del mundo.

15 W hoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Todo aquél que confiesa que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece en él y él en Dios.

16 W e have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Y nosotros hemos llegado a conocer y hemos creído el amor que Dios tiene para nosotros. Dios es amor, y el que permanece en amor permanece en Dios y Dios permanece en él.

17 B y this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.

En esto se perfecciona el amor en nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio, pues como El es, así somos también nosotros en este mundo.

18 T here is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor, porque el temor involucra castigo, y el que teme no es hecho perfecto en el amor.

19 W e love, because He first loved us.

Nosotros amamos porque El nos amó primero.

20 I f someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Si alguien dice: “Yo amo a Dios,” pero aborrece a su hermano, es un mentiroso. Porque el que no ama a su hermano, a quien ha visto, no puede amar a Dios a quien no ha visto.

21 A nd this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.

Y este mandamiento tenemos de El: que el que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.
