1 N ow the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, so that the Lord gave them into the hands of the Philistines forty years.

Los Israelitas volvieron a hacer lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, y el Señor los entregó en manos de los Filisteos durante cuarenta años.

2 T here was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had borne no children.

Había un hombre de Zora, de la familia de los Danitas, el cual se llamaba Manoa; su mujer era estéril y no había tenido hijos.

3 T hen the angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and give birth to a son.

Entonces el ángel del Señor se le apareció a la mujer, y le dijo: “Tú eres estéril y no has tenido hijos, pero vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo.

4 N ow therefore, be careful not to drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing.

Ahora pues, cuídate de no beber vino ni licor, y de no comer ninguna cosa inmunda.

5 F or behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”

Porque vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo. El no pasará navaja sobre su cabeza, porque el niño será Nazareo para Dios desde el seno materno. Y él comenzará a salvar a Israel de manos de los Filisteos.”

6 T hen the woman came and told her husband, saying, “ A man of God came to me and his appearance was like the appearance of the angel of God, very awesome. And I did not ask him where he came from, nor did he tell me his name.

La mujer fue y se lo dijo a su marido: “Un hombre de Dios vino a mí, y su aspecto era como el aspecto del ángel de Dios, muy imponente. Yo no le pregunté de dónde venía, ni él me hizo saber su nombre.

7 B ut he said to me, ‘Behold, you shall conceive and give birth to a son, and now you shall not drink wine or strong drink nor eat any unclean thing, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.’”

Pero él me dijo: ‘Vas a concebir y a dar a luz un hijo; desde ahora no beberás vino ni licor, ni comerás cosa inmunda, porque el niño será Nazareo para Dios desde el seno materno hasta el día de su muerte.’”

8 T hen Manoah entreated the Lord and said, “O Lord, please let the man of God whom You have sent come to us again that he may teach us what to do for the boy who is to be born.”

Entonces Manoa imploró al Señor, y dijo: “Te ruego Señor, que el hombre de Dios que Tú enviaste venga otra vez a nosotros, para que nos enseñe lo que hemos de hacer con el niño que ha de nacer.”

9 G od listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she was sitting in the field, but Manoah her husband was not with her.

Dios escuchó la voz de Manoa. Y el ángel de Dios vino otra vez a la mujer cuando estaba sentada en el campo; pero Manoa su marido no estaba con ella.

10 S o the woman ran quickly and told her husband, “Behold, the man who came the other day has appeared to me.”

La mujer corrió rápidamente y avisó a su marido, y le dijo: “Ven, se me ha aparecido el hombre que vino el otro día.”

11 T hen Manoah arose and followed his wife, and when he came to the man he said to him, “Are you the man who spoke to the woman?” And he said, “I am.”

Manoa se levantó y siguió a su mujer, y cuando llegó al hombre, le dijo: “¿Eres el hombre que habló a la mujer ?” “Yo soy,” respondió él.

12 M anoah said, “Now when your words come to pass, what shall be the boy’s mode of life and his vocation?”

Y Manoa le preguntó: “Cuando tus palabras se cumplan, ¿cómo debe ser el modo de vivir del muchacho y cuál su vocación?”

13 S o the angel of the Lord said to Manoah, “ Let the woman pay attention to all that I said.

Y el ángel del Señor contestó a Manoa: “Que la mujer atienda a todo lo que le dije.

14 S he should not eat anything that comes from the vine nor drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; let her observe all that I commanded.”

No comerá nada que venga de la vid, no beberá vino ni licor, ni comerá nada inmundo. Ella deberá guardar todo lo que le he ordenado.” Nacimiento de Sansón

15 T hen Manoah said to the angel of the Lord, “Please let us detain you so that we may prepare a young goat for you.”

Entonces Manoa dijo al ángel del Señor: “Permítenos detenerte y prepararte un cabrito.”

16 T he angel of the Lord said to Manoah, “Though you detain me, I will not eat your food, but if you prepare a burnt offering, then offer it to the Lord.” For Manoah did not know that he was the angel of the Lord.

Y el ángel del Señor respondió a Manoa: “Aunque me detengas, no comeré de tu alimento, pero si preparas un holocausto, ofrécelo al Señor.” Y Manoa no sabía que era el ángel del Señor.

17 M anoah said to the angel of the Lord, “ What is your name, so that when your words come to pass, we may honor you?”

Y Manoa dijo al ángel del Señor: “¿Cuál es tu nombre, para que cuando se cumplan tus palabras, te honremos?”

18 B ut the angel of the Lord said to him, “Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?”

El ángel del Señor le respondió: “¿Por qué preguntas mi nombre, viendo que es maravilloso (incomprensible) ?”

19 S o Manoah took the young goat with the grain offering and offered it on the rock to the Lord, and He performed wonders while Manoah and his wife looked on.

Entonces Manoa tomó el cabrito con la ofrenda de cereal y los ofreció sobre una piedra al Señor, y el ángel hizo maravillas mientras que Manoa y su mujer observaban.

20 F or it came about when the flame went up from the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell on their faces to the ground.

Pues sucedió que cuando la llama subía del altar hacia el cielo, el ángel del Señor ascendió en la llama del altar. Al ver esto, Manoa y su mujer cayeron rostro en tierra.

21 N ow the angel of the Lord did not appear to Manoah or his wife again. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the Lord.

El ángel del Señor no se volvió a aparecer a Manoa ni a su mujer. Entonces Manoa supo que era el ángel del Señor.

22 S o Manoah said to his wife, “ We will surely die, for we have seen God.”

Y Manoa dijo a su mujer: “Ciertamente moriremos, porque hemos visto a Dios.”

23 B ut his wife said to him, “If the Lord had desired to kill us, He would not have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from our hands, nor would He have shown us all these things, nor would He have let us hear things like this at this time.”

Pero su mujer le contestó: “Si el Señor hubiera deseado matarnos, no habría aceptado el holocausto ni la ofrenda de cereal de nuestras manos; tampoco nos habría mostrado todas estas cosas, ni nos habría permitido ahora oír cosas como éstas.”

24 T hen the woman gave birth to a son and named him Samson; and the child grew up and the Lord blessed him.

Y la mujer dio a luz un hijo y le puso por nombre Sansón. El niño creció y el Señor lo bendijo.

25 A nd the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

Y el Espíritu del Señor comenzó a manifestarse en él en Majané Dan (el campamento de Dan), entre Zora y Estaol.
