1 T hen God spoke all these words, saying,

Entonces Dios habló todas estas palabras diciendo:

2 “ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

“ Yo soy el Señor tu Dios, que te saqué de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre (de la esclavitud).

3 “ You shall have no other gods before Me.

“No tendrás otros dioses delante de Mí.

4 “ You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

“No te harás ningún ídolo (imagen tallada), ni semejanza alguna de lo que está arriba en el cielo, ni abajo en la tierra, ni en las aguas debajo de la tierra.

5 Y ou shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

No los adorarás (No te inclinarás ante ellos) ni los servirás (ni los honrarás). Porque Yo, el Señor tu Dios, soy Dios celoso, que castigo la iniquidad de los padres sobre los hijos hasta la tercera y cuarta generación de los que Me aborrecen,

6 b ut showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

y muestro misericordia a millares, a los que Me aman y guardan Mis mandamientos.

7 “ You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

“No tomarás el nombre del Señor tu Dios en vano, porque el Señor no tendrá por inocente al que tome Su nombre en vano.

8 “ Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

“Acuérdate del día de reposo para santificarlo.

9 S ix days you shall labor and do all your work,

“Seis días trabajarás y harás toda tu obra,

10 b ut the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.

pero el séptimo día es día de reposo para el Señor tu Dios. No harás en él trabajo alguno, tú, ni tu hijo, ni tu hija, ni tu siervo, ni tu sierva, ni tu ganado, ni el extranjero que está contigo.

11 F or in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

Porque en seis días hizo el Señor los cielos y la tierra, el mar y todo lo que en ellos hay, y reposó en el séptimo día. Por tanto, el Señor bendijo el día de reposo y lo santificó.

12 “ Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the Lord your God gives you.

“Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días sean prolongados en la tierra que el Señor tu Dios te da.

13 “ You shall not murder.

“No matarás (No asesinarás).

14 “ You shall not commit adultery.

“No cometerás adulterio.

15 “ You shall not steal.

“No hurtarás.

16 “ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

“No darás falso testimonio contra tu prójimo.

17 “ You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

“No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo. No codiciarás la mujer de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su sierva, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni nada que sea de tu prójimo.” El Pueblo Teme al Señor

18 A ll the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance.

Todo el pueblo percibía los truenos y relámpagos, el sonido de la trompeta y el monte que humeaba. Cuando el pueblo vio aquello, temblaron, y se mantuvieron a distancia.

19 T hen they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, or we will die.”

Entonces dijeron a Moisés: “Habla tú con nosotros y escucharemos, pero que no hable Dios con nosotros, no sea que muramos.”

20 M oses said to the people, “ Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin.”

Moisés respondió al pueblo: “No teman, porque Dios ha venido para ponerlos a prueba, y para que Su temor permanezca en ustedes, y para que no pequen.”

21 S o the people stood at a distance, while Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.

El pueblo se mantuvo a distancia, mientras Moisés se acercaba a la densa nube donde estaba Dios.

22 T hen the Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.

Entonces el Señor dijo a Moisés: “Así dirás a los Israelitas: ‘Ustedes han visto que les he hablado desde el cielo.

23 Y ou shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves.

No harán junto a Mí dioses de plata ni dioses de oro. No se los harán.

24 Y ou shall make an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.

Harás un altar de tierra para Mí, y sobre él sacrificarás tus holocaustos y tus ofrendas de paz, tus ovejas y tus bueyes. En todo lugar donde Yo haga recordar Mi nombre, vendré a ti y te bendeciré.

25 I f you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build it of cut stones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it.

Si Me haces un altar de piedra, no lo construirás de piedras labradas. Porque si alzas tu cincel sobre él, lo profanarás.

26 A nd you shall not go up by steps to My altar, so that your nakedness will not be exposed on it.’

Y no subirás por gradas a Mi altar, para que tu desnudez no se descubra sobre él.’
