1 S fatuiesc pe prezbiterii dintre voi, eu, care sunt un prezbiter ca si ei, un martor al patimilor lui Hristos, si partas al slavei care va fi descoperita:

¶ The elders who are among you I exhort (I am also an elder with them and a witness of the afflictions of the Christ, and also a participant of the glory that shall be revealed).

2 p astoriti turma lui Dumnezeu care este sub paza voastra, nu de sila, ci de buna voie, dupa voia lui Dumnezeu; nu pentru un cistig mirsav, ci cu lepadare de sine.

Feed the flock of God which is among you, caring for her, not by force, but willingly; not for shameful lucre, but with willing desire;

3 N u ca si cum ati stapini peste cei ce v-au cazut la imparteala, ci facindu-va pilde turmei.

and not as having lordship over the heritage of the Lord, but in such a manner as to be examples of the flock.

4 S i cind Se va arata Pastorul cel mare, veti capata cununa, care nu se poate vesteji, a slavei.

And when the great Prince of the pastors shall appear, ye shall receive the incorruptible crown of glory.

5 T ot asa si voi, tinerilor, fiti supusi celor batrini. Si toti, in legaturile voastre, sa fiti impodobiti cu smerenie. Caci "Dumnezeu sta impotriva celor mindri, dar celor smeriti le da har."

¶ Likewise, young people, be subject to the elders in such a manner that you are all subject to one another. Be clothed with humility of will, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

6 S meriti-va dar sub mina tare a lui Dumnezeu, pentru ca, la vremea Lui, El sa va inalte.

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time,

7 S i aruncati asupra Lui toate ingrijorarile voastre, caci El insusi ingrijeste de voi. Pentru ca potrivnicul vostru, diavolul, da tircoale ca un leu care racneste, si cauta pe cine sa inghita.

casting all your cares upon him, for he cares for you.

8 F iti treji, si vegheati!

¶ Be temperate and vigilant because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour,

9 I mpotriviti-va lui tari in credinta, stiind ca si fratii vostri in lume trec prin aceleasi suferinte ca voi.

resist him steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are to be accomplished in the company of your brethren that are in the world.

10 D umnezeul oricarui har, care v-a chemat in Hristos Isus la slava Sa vesnica, dupa ce veti suferi putina vreme, va va desavirsi, va va intari, va va da putere si va va face neclintiti.

¶ But the God of all grace, who has called us unto his eternal glory by Jesus, the Christ, after ye have suffered a little while, he himself perfects, confirms, strengthens, and establishes you.

11 A Lui sa fie slava si puterea in vecii vecilor! Amin.

To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

12 V -am scris aceste putine rinduri prin Silvan, care cred ca este un frate credincios, ca sa va sfatuiesc si sa va adeveresc ca adevaratul har al lui Dumnezeu este harul acesta, de care v-ati alipit.

By Silvanus, a faithful brother; (according to my reckoning), I have written briefly, exhorting, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which ye stand.

13 B iserica aleasa cu voi, care este in Babilon, va trimite sanatate. Tot asa si Marcu, fiul meu.

Those here at Babylon, chosen together with you, salute you and so does Mark, my son.

14 S puneti-va sanatate unii altora cu o sarutare de dragoste. Pacea sa fie cu voi cu toti care sunteti in Hristos Isus! Amin.
