1 R ugăciunea proorocului Habacuc. (De cîntat în felul cîntecelor de jale).

¶ A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, because of all the ignorance.

2 C înd am auzit, Doamne, ce ai vestit, m'am îngrozit. Însufleţeşte-Ţi lucrarea în cursul anilor, Doamne! Fă-Te cunoscut în trecerea anilor! Dar, în mînia Ta, adu-ţi aminte de îndurările Tale!

O LORD, I have heard thy word and was afraid; O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the times; in the midst of the times make it known; in wrath remember mercy.

3 D umnezeu vine din Teman, şi Cel Sfînt vine din muntele Paran... -(Oprire.) -Măreţia Lui acopere cerurile, şi slava Lui umple pămîntul.

¶ God shall come from Teman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was filled with his praise.

4 S trălucirea Lui este ca lumina soarelui, din mîna Lui pornesc raze, şi acolo este ascunsă tăria Lui.

And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand; and there was hidden his strength.

5 Î naintea Lui merge ciuma, şi molima calcă pe urmele lui.

Before his face went mortality, and burning coals went forth from his feet.

6 S e opreşte, şi măsoară pămîntul cu ochiul; priveşte, şi face pe neamuri să tremure; munţii cei vecinici se sfărîmă, dealurile cele vechi se pleacă; El umblă pe cărări vecinice.

He stood and measured the earth; he beheld and drove out the Gentiles; and the ancient mountains crumbled, the ancient hills; the ways of the world bowed unto him.

7 V ăd corturile Etiopiei, pline de groază, şi se cutremură colibele din ţara Madianului.

I saw the tents of Cushan as nothing, and the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.

8 S 'a mîniat oare Domnul pe rîuri? Împotriva rîurilor se aprinde mînia Ta, sau împotriva mării se varsă urgia Ta, de ai încălecat pe caii Tăi, şi Te-ai suit în carul Tău de biruinţă?

Oh LORD, wast thou displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath even against the sea when thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of saving health?

9 A rcul Tău este desvelit; blestemele sînt săgeţile Cuvîntului Tău... -(Oprire.) -Tu despici pămîntul ca să dai drumul rîurilor.

Thy bow was entirely uncovered, and the oaths unto the tribes, eternal word, when thou didst divide the earth with rivers.

10 L a vederea Ta, se cutremură munţii; se năpustesc rîuri de apă; adîncul îşi ridică glasul, şi îşi înalţă valurile în sus.

The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the waters passed by; the abyss uttered its voice; the deep lifted up its hands.

11 S oarele şi luna se opresc în locuinţa lor, de lumina săgeţilor Tale cari pornesc, de strălucirea suliţei Tale care luceşte.

The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went and at the shining of thy glittering spear.

12 T u cutreieri pămîntul în urgia ta, zdrobeşti neamurile în mînia Ta.

Thou didst tread upon the land in wrath; thou didst thresh the Gentiles in anger.

13 I eşi ca să izbăveşti pe poporul Tău, să izbăveşti pe unsul Tău; sfărîmi acoperişul casei celui rău, o nimiceşti din temelii pînă în vîrf. -(Oprire.) -

Thou didst go forth to save thy people, to save with thine anointed; thou didst shatter the head of the house of the wicked by uncovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

14 S trăpungi cu săgeţile Tale capul căpeteniilor lui, cari se năpustesc peste mine ca furtuna, să mă pună pe fugă, scoţînd strigăte de bucurie, ca şi cum ar fi şi mîncat pe cel nenorocit în culcuş.

Thou didst strike through with his staffs the heads of his villages, who as a whirlwind attempted to scatter me; their pride was as to devour the poor secretly.

15 C u caii Tăi mergi pe mare, pe spuma apelor mari.

Thou didst make a way through the sea for thine horses through the heap of great waters.

16 C înd am auzit... lucrul acesta, mi s'a cutremurat trupul; la vestea aceasta, mi se înfioară buzele, îmi intră putrezirea în oase, şi-mi tremură genunchii. Căci aş putea oare aştepta în tăcere ziua necazului, ziua cînd asupritorul va merge împotriva poporului?

¶ When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice; rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my seat, that I might rest in the day of trouble when he comes up unto the people to destroy them.

17 C ăci chiar dacă smochinul nu va înflori, viţa nu va da niciun rod, rodul măslinului va lipsi, şi cîmpiile nu vor da hrană, oile vor pieri din staule, şi nu vor mai fi boi în grajduri,

Because the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be on the vines; the labour of the olive shall lie, and the cultivated fields shall yield no food; the sheep shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

18 e u tot mă voi bucura în Domnul, mă voi bucura în Dumnezeul mîntuirii mele!

yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will joy in the God of my saving health.

19 D omnul Dumnezeul este tăria mea; El îmi face picioarele ca ale cerbilor, şi mă face să merg pe înălţimile mele. -Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. De cîntat cu instrumente cu coarde

The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and upon my high places he will cause me to walk victorious in my instruments of music.
