1 ( O cîntare a treptelor. Un psalm al lui David.) De n'ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră, -să spună Israel acum! -

¶ If the LORD had not been for us, now may Israel say,

2 d e n'ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră, cînd s'au ridicat oamenii împotriva noastră,

If the LORD had not been for us, when men rose up against us,

3 n e-ar fi înghiţit de vii, cînd li s'a aprins mînia împotriva noastră;

then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us;

4 n e-ar fi înecat apele, ar fi trecut rîurile peste sufletul nostru;

then the waters would have overwhelmed us; the flood would have gone over our soul;

5 a r fi trecut peste sufletul nostru valurile năpraznice.

then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

6 B inecuvîntat să fie Domnul, care nu ne -a dat pradă dinţilor lor!

¶ Blessed be the LORD, who did not give us as a prey to their teeth.

7 S ufletul ne -a scăpat ca pasărea din laţul păsărarului; laţul s'a rupt, şi noi am scăpat.

Our soul has escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers; the snare has broken, and we are escaped.

8 A jutorul nostru este în Numele Domnului, care a făcut cerurile şi pămîntul.

Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made the heaven and the earth.
